He thought he would at least have a few drinks to clear his head off. He met Jessie in Vegas and recognized she was the woman his grandfather forced him to get married to. The man did everything he could to escape Jessie's eyes. He would lose a significant sum of money if he freed her. In that case, how would he feed? He wasn't taught to be kind.
