At Shrek Academy's administration office, there was a rare sight today—every teacher, including Deputy Headmaster Zhao Wuji, was present. The other faculty members were also in attendance, along with most of the students. This gathering included nearly the entire academy.
Everyone present wore solemn expressions, and the mood was heavy.
In the middle of the room, Dai Mubai knelt on the ground with his hands tied behind his back, his mouth stuffed with a large cloth to prevent him from speaking. Around him, the other students stood in a half-circle, watching with serious faces.
The reason for such a rare and solemn gathering was the impending decision on Dai Mubai's fate—his punishment for his grievous actions.
Dai Mubai's hands were bound, and the cloth stuffed in his mouth had been placed there by Zhao Wuji himself to prevent him from spewing more reckless accusations or making any attempt to retaliate. Zhao Wuji knew Dai Mubai too well—after what had happened, there was no need for further words from him.
Zhao Wuji had initially hoped to resolve this issue quietly. He thought that perhaps Dai Mubai could be given a severe punishment, then sent away from the academy for a while until the situation cooled down. When Zhu Zhuqing and the others had calmed, he might have been able to bring Dai Mubai back. But now, Zhao Wuji had no such plans. Dai Mubai's constant refusal to take responsibility and his insistence on blaming others, particularly Zhao Ming, had pushed Zhao Wuji to his limit.
If it came down to a choice between keeping Dai Mubai or keeping Zhao Ming and the other new students, the decision was clear. He wasn't about to let a talent like Zhao Ming slip away because of Dai Mubai's actions.
Zhao Wuji knew that even Ning Rongrong, with her exceptional Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, was far more valuable than Dai Mubai, whose White Tiger Martial Soul couldn't even rank in the top five among offensive martial souls. The gap in potential was too great to ignore.
---
"Dai Mubai, do you understand your wrongs?" The speaker was Shao Xin, a food system Spirit Saint and the second-highest-ranking figure at Shrek Academy, just below Flender and Zhao Wuji.
Food-type spirit masters were notoriously difficult to cultivate, and a food system Spirit Saint's status was on par with an ordinary Spirit Douluo. In terms of influence within Shrek Academy, Shao Xin held significant weight, though his strength wasn't in combat.
Hearing Shao Xin's question, Dai Mubai made muffled noises, unable to speak due to the cloth in his mouth.
Shao Xin pulled the cloth from Dai Mubai's mouth, still hoping to give the student one last chance to explain himself.
"Teacher Shao, I was wrong, but I swear, it's all because Zhao Ming provoked me! He's the one who—"
Before Dai Mubai could finish, a white blur flashed across the room—Zhao Wuji's palm.
He smacked Dai Mubai hard, sending him flying before quickly stuffing the cloth back into his mouth.
"Old Shao, I told you! Dai Mubai is beyond saving. Anything he says now is just excuses," Zhao Wuji said with exasperation.
Shao Xin shook his head in disappointment. He had watched Dai Mubai indulge in a life of luxury and debauchery ever since arriving at the academy, often spending his time with Ma Hongjun in the pleasure houses. There had been no female students at Shrek Academy before, so Dai Mubai hadn't had many opportunities to cause trouble. But now that there were girls at the academy, his true nature had been exposed.
Shao Xin realized that Dai Mubai, in his current state, would never change. If he wasn't stopped, it would only be a matter of time before he crossed another line, perhaps even targeting Ning Rongrong next. And if that happened, how could Shrek Academy survive the wrath of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan?
Looking into Dai Mubai's furious eyes, Shao Xin asked, "Old Li, according to academy rules, how should we deal with him?"
According to the academy's regulations, Dai Mubai's actions fell under the category of severe misconduct—specifically, endangering the lives of fellow students and committing grave offenses. The punishment for such crimes was outlined in Rule 37 and Rule 49, which stated that the offender would be stripped of their spirit power and expelled from the academy.
Li Yusong, the teacher who had led the new students through the admissions process, replied without hesitation, "According to Shrek Academy's regulations, under Rule 37 and Rule 49, for crimes of misconduct and intent to harm a fellow student, the punishment is the removal of spirit power and immediate expulsion."
Hearing the sentence, both the teachers and students present wore somber expressions. This was the most severe punishment ever handed down in Shrek Academy's history.
Dai Mubai, hearing this, struggled fiercely, his martial soul flaring as he broke free from his bindings.
"Zhao Wuji, you can't do this! You can't strip me of my spirit power!" Dai Mubai screamed, knowing that losing his powers would make him a worthless cripple.
"Dai Mubai, what do you think you're doing?" Zhao Wuji stood, prepared to act, but Shao Xin stopped him.
"I see you for who you truly are now, Zhao Wuji. It's all because Zhao Ming's talent is better than mine, isn't it? Before he arrived, you all treated me like a treasure! But now…"
"You, you insolent brat!" This time it was Li Yusong who shouted, his fury boiling over.
Summoning his martial soul, a long, cold iron staff materialized in his hands—it was his Dragon Pattern Staff.
"An ancient saying goes, 'When a student fails, it is the teacher's fault.' Your actions reflect our failure to discipline you properly. But now, I will teach you one last lesson before you leave Shrek Academy, so you won't cause trouble elsewhere in the future!" With that, Li Yusong raised his staff and brought it crashing down on Dai Mubai.
"Ahhh!"
Dai Mubai screamed in agony as the staff struck him, tearing his skin and leaving him writhing in pain.
But Li Yusong wasn't done. He swung his staff again, delivering another heavy blow to Dai Mubai's body.
"Ahhh!"
By now, Dai Mubai was completely broken, both physically and mentally. He lay on the ground, humiliated, as the students and teachers gathered around, watching his pitiful state.
His pride and self-respect had been utterly destroyed.
To Dai Mubai, this was worse than death.
With the final strike, Dai Mubai lost consciousness, his body collapsing to the ground.
In the end, the teachers decided not to strip him of his spirit power, knowing that Dai Mubai was still a prince of the Star Luo Empire.
But he was officially expelled from Shrek Academy.
That same day, Zhao Wuji threw Dai Mubai, unconscious and disgraced, out of the academy gates.
