Chapter 40 — Ning Chen Wants To Cook!

Ning Chen would usually wake up at new dawn while still feeling refreshed and full of vigor.

He like this time because it was the sign of a new beginning, a new day, and a fresh start.

Ning Chen would always start his training at this time. It was his extreme focus and perseverance that made him strong.

He also have a very stubborn character and once he decided to do something; nothing else can affect him.

Ning Chen looked around after waking up and saw he was currently inside an unfamiliar bedroom.

The room was spacious; filled with many expensive decorations and ornaments. His bed was large and comfortable.

There was also a private bathroom he can use freely.

Ning Chen then remembered that he was now a student of the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy and a member of the Emperor Team.

He was residing temporary inside the imperial palace.

Ning Chen stood up from his bed and did some light stretching. He then decided to cultivate his spirit power as usual.

He left his room and saw the hallways still dark and guessed the others were still sleeping.

Ning Chen made his way toward the courtyard and sat next to a clear pond filled with beautiful fishes.

He remembered that he had also used to trained at Yu Qian's courtyard.

Ning Chen spent a whole hour cultivating his spirit power and then another two hours refining his control over It.

He then started practicing on swinging his sword for thousands of repetitions at the air.

This was his morning normal training routine and he would only do the body tempering cultivation at night.

The sun was already starting to rise and slowly illuminated the whole world.

Yu Feng woke up much earlier than his friends as usual and went toward the living room.

While he was heading there, Yu Feng heard a faint whistling sound coming from the courtyard.

Feeling curious about the noise, he went toward there and quickly saw Ning Chen swinging his sword without stopping for a single second.

Yu Feng couldn't help but unconsciously stare at Ning Chen's body for a long time.

Ning Chen's upper was currently not covered, revealing his strong firm muscles and perfectly sculpted body.

Sweats trickled down his firm muscles seductively and steam were rising from his tanned skin.

Yu Feng gulped down his saliva with his eyes not leaving from Ning Chen's body as his cheeks turned redder.

He didn't knew how can such an amazing physique exist in this world. It was flawless and was covered thickly with the aura of sword...

Yu Feng then quickly realized he was staring fixedly at Ning Chen's body and also having lewd thoughts.

His face was completed red and he quickly turned around.

"Evil thoughts begone!" He silently chanted repeatedly under his breath.

Yu Feng was so concentrated on chanting that he didn't noticed that sound of the sword stopping.

Ning Chen approached Yu Feng after seeing him while wiping his forehead with a towel.

"Oh, you're awake now? Is it the same with the others?" Ning Chen asked and tapped on Yu Feng's shoulder.

It was delicate and smaller compared to Ning Chen's broad shoulders.

Yu Feng flinched in surprised after Ning Chen suddenly tapped his shoulder, but quickly calmed down.

He turned to face Ning Chen, but his heart soon skipped a beat, seeing his bare upper body closely.

There were still some warm steam rising from Ning Chen's skin and some light sweats as well.

Yu Feng slowly stepped back and felt his heart beating rapidly.

"I think they're still sleeping," He quickly replied.

"Oh okay, they sure sleep for too long," Ning Chen was confused at Yu Feng's weird reaction.

"Sorry, do I smell horrendous right now?" Ning Chen apologized after thinking it might be because of him sweating heavily after training.

"No, it's not that..." Yu Feng quickly waved his hand in denial.

In truth, he managed to smell Ning Chen earlier and he smelled good! It was so good that Yu Feng wanted to keep smelling Ning Chen's scent forever, but that would be too perverted.

He could only feel shameful for thinking so indecent about Ning Chen.

The reason for Ning Chen smelling extremely good was because of the natural energy and his vigor.

It changed his body down to it's bloodline and cellular level to make him evolve to become stronger, but it was a slow and steady process.

Ning Chen smelling sweet and good was just one of effects of him cultivating natural energy.

"Hmmm, okay, but I'll still need to take a shower. I'll see you later at the cafeteria!" Ning Chen waved his hand and quickly went toward his room.

"Sure, see you soon!" Yu Feng also waved his hand back at him.

Ning Chen went inside his room and quickly took a shower to clean himself. He then changed into a blue and white clothes and went toward the cafeteria.

Ning Chen arrived at the cafeteria which was located inside the imperial palace. He quickly spotted Yu Feng since he was the only sitting at the cafeteria.

"The others are still not up?" Ning Chen asked while sitting in front of Yu Feng.

"Yeah, but I'm sure they will wake up soon."

Ning Chen nodded and then started to look at the menu. There were nothing that caught his interest in the menu.

Yu Feng saw Ning Chen's uninterested expression and questioned confusedly.

"You don't like the foods on the menu? It's made from the best chefs here, though."

Ning Chen felt slightly interested hearing his words and then decided to order an omelette and a simple tea.

Yu Feng also ordered an omelette and hot coffee.

The omelette was immediately served at Ning Chen's table by the chef.

The appearance was okay, but the taste was still unknown.

Ning Chen took a spoon and started eating the omelette. He managed to finish it completely, but there was no change on his expression.

The omelette didn't tasted delicious at all, but he finished it at least.

It was bad to waste food — his mother taught him that at a young age and it stuck to him even now.

"It doesn't taste good at all," Ning Chen said while sighing.

"Hmm? But It taste good for me," Yu Feng said while slowly eating his own omelette.

Ning Chen then wondered why it doesn't taste good to him.

Maybe it was because he had gotten used on eating his mother and Yu Liena's cooking.

His mother was a good cook and he find the things she cooked very delicious.

As for Yu Liena, it was simply addicting and he missed tasting it severely.

Ning Chen then felt his stomach growling loudly and felt hungry.

Left with no other choices, Ning Chen decided it was time to take matters into his hand.

He abruptly stood up from his seat and grabbed Yu Feng's hand.

"Hey, what—?" Yu Feng was quickly startled, but couldn't speak another word as he was forcefully dragged into the kitchen.

"Help me cook."

That was only Ning Chen words before they both charged at the kitchen.

Ning Chen had learned how to cook from Yu Liena and his father.

The reason was to be able to cook his own foods while hunting inside the forest, but he had gradually refined his cooking skills as time passed.

He was now very confident at his own cooking skills which he guessed to have reached the master grade.

However, he was still far from reaching Yu Liena's height.

After entering the kitchen, Ning Chen straightly told them they suck at cooking and he would make his own food today.

The chefs were quickly angry and decided to let Night Chen cook in the kitchen.

They were gonna teach this guy that the art of cooking skills wasn't easy to master.

Under the many judging and mocking eyes of the chefs, Ning Chen started to cook inside their sacred land.

His control over the kitchen knife was superb as it was no different from wielding his sword.

His hand was also very precise and delicately handled every ingredients.

Yu Feng on the other hand, was extremely anxious the whole time while feeling the gaze of the chefs.

For all he knows, this was extremely rude to them!

Furthermore, he didn't know how to cook and could only slightly help Ning Chen.

At this moment, Yu Feng wanted the others to wake up already and save him from this kitchen nightmare!

"Impossible...!"

"How is he much more skilled than us!?"

"Those looks like it was made from heaven!"

The chefs cried out in surprised and astonishment as they examined the dishes made by Ning Chen.

The sparkling and perfectly cooked tender steak covered in a bright red sauce that looked like a wine.

Several bowls which contained the egg fried rice. It was golden in colour with each and every pieces of rice appearing like crystals.

There was also the ramen that was made flawlessly from it's noodles, broth and other things.

(A/N: I dunno, just added things that popped from my head.)

Yu Feng was also amazed and didn't expected Ning Chen to be a good cook.

He was talented, handsome, hard-working, have a calm yet bright personality, and skilled at cooking.

Ning Chen was like the perfect man, however, there was no perfect people in this world.

He was a masochist.

Ning Chen wiped the sweats on his forehead and felt cooking was difficult.

However, he found difficult things much more enjoyable and thrilling.

Ning Chen then heard some noises outside the kitchen and guessed the others had already arrived.

It was also the perfect time since he had also cooked their own portions aside from him and Yu Feng.

And eating them while still warm was gonna be the best experience.

"The others have already arrived. Quickly serve the dishes and also with the drinks," Ning Chen said while taking off his equipment for cooking cleanly.

"Yes Chef!" The chefs shouted loudly and did exactly what Ning Chen commanded.

They now respected Ning Chen because of his skills and him cooking also expanded their horizons about cooking.

The chefs started to place down the dishes at the table of the Emperor Team.

Yu Tianheng and the others were confused since they still haven't ordered anything and thought it was mistake.

Fortunately, Yu Feng quickly explained things to them.

They were surprised after hearing it was Ning Chen who cooked those dishes and was excited to taste it.

Yu Feng was also feeling the same.

Ning Chen left the kitchen and sat with whole Emperor Team at the table.

"I hope you guys find my cooking delicious," Ning Chen said with a smile before starting to eat.

The others stared at the sparkling and steamy foods before them and gulped down their saliva.

Everything smelled good and the smell stimulated their appetite.

They all picked their spoons at the same time and started eating at their own pace.

"Delicious..." Dugu Yan said with a smile and closed her eyes tenderly to appreciate the taste.

She started to flirt and act lovely with Yu Tianheng and started to feed him with her own spoon.

This earned them a silent glare from Ning Chen and Yu Feng.

Their glare seemed to say for the two of them to mind their actions, however, Dugu Yan simply ignored them. She instead got closer to Yu Tianheng who grew awkward.

Xie Lingling's emotionless face also changed after eating. Her face became brighter and a bit red as a small smile formed on her face.

It was extremely delicious, appealing to her own taste buds.

She looked toward Ning Chen and hoped he continued to cook for them.

Xie Lingling was conquered through cooking.

The Shi Brothers and Osler were also complimenting Ning Chen and he thanked them for it.

It after all feels good to be praised by others and even more so from your loved ones.

However, for some reason, he kept getting distracted by Dugu Yan and Yu Tianheng flirting with each others.

It was even worse when they currently sit next to him.

Ning Chen even started on considering taking their foods away, but he wasn't that vicious and petty

He just felt himself slowly remembering Yu Liena today under an unknown force even though he had unconsciously tried to forget things.

Ning Chen looked toward the distant sky and slowly wondered how she was doing.

Was she still pursuing her dreams right now?

And there was about his master who was growing older as time passed.

Ning Chen sincerely hoped they were both okay.

Yu Feng looked toward Ning Chen and saw him dazedly looking at the sky.

He then wondered what kind of thoughts was he thinking so deeply.

How was this chapter? I find it hard to write their interactions.

I've also already messed up with the timeline and there's no turning back.

I will now make Ning Rongrong one year younger than Ning Chen instead of two. I hope you guys understand this ;-;

However, don't worry too much. Nothing much will change. I only have to rewrite few words detailing their age in chapter 1 and 2.

Just think of it as a translation error ;)
