DESCRIPTION: A one-time use book that will allow the user to unlock the spearman class (trainee) which will be recognised by the Doomsday advent world. Relevant knowledge will be directly transmitted to the brain and the body will be adapted accordingly.

SYSTEM REMARK: By using this book it will allow for a stable foundation in the art of using spears. Hosts own experiences or a beginner experience book will allow for the class to increase in grading. Perfect for increasing hosts survival chances initially while having growth potential.

RARITY: White (Common)

NOTE: To use this book a spear must be held in one hand while focusing upon the book being held in the other.

< UNCOMMON SPEAR >

DESCRIPTION: The shaft is made from an ironwood tree branch while the spearhead is made from iron, sharpened to a razor-like point. The left side of the spearhead is toothed for causing maximum damage to enemies. The spear is 150cm long, and the spearhead is 12 cm long for a combined total of 1.62m long and a weight of 15kg.

SYSTEM REMARK: The best spear that the host could get for 24 points. It is a very good spear and the trainee experience book will allow for the host to increase survival odds greatly. The spear is heavier than what the host is used to so further training will be needed.

RARITY: Uncommon (Green)

< SPEARMAN SKILL: PHANTOM LUNGE >

DESCRIPTION: Upon using the skill whoever does so will get access to Phantom Lunge. Using 5 mana points will give the illusion of the spear being thrust out numerous times while allowing for the use of the illusion as cover to strike the opponent.

SYSTEM REMARK: There are two reasons this was chosen for the host. Firstly, it complements the other two items very well, and further training will allow for the host to be a deadly opponent. But most importantly this skill will allow the host to unlock the use of Mana Points.

RARITY: Psuedo-Rare (Green/Blue)

NOTE: The effect of the skill depends on the spear rarity. The skill effect shows the maximum effect with a rare weapon.

Caught off guard by the sudden change Deryn called for the system but got no response. He tried once more but after waiting a few minutes there was still no response. The thing which surprised him the most was he could access everything still besides the character sheet, inventory and of course, the sassy system.

Looking at the time it was 10:44 PM, the system would be back up and running at 6:40 AM in the morning.

His head felt emptier without the systems slight sass.

Getting more bored he yawned, deciding that now was a good a time as any to get some sleep. It was an hour earlier than he planned originally, but he decided the extra hour could be a reward for his first day surviving in this new world.

"It's only been one day since I've been here" he muttered aloud just realising how nuts that sounded. He has done more adventuring in this one day than he had ever done in his 19 years of life on earth.

With not enough water to shower, he merely used the toilet before removing his clothes and jumping in bed. Deryn read bits and pieces of the chat before his eyes started to close.

A few minutes later snores could be heard echoing around the empty walls of his bedroom. A small smile was on his face as he slept.

7.30 AM

Deryn awoke groggily.

"That was such a strange dream... Or was it a nightmare".

His eyes instantly lost the sleepiness that clouded them.

Deryn just recently woken up was dumbfounded at the influx of information. Just 10 minutes ago he woke up thinking it was a dream and now was bombarded with so many notifications that it covered up his vision making him feel faint.

He took a breath before making sure to read everything twice to understand it fully. The system update is straightforward, as is the character sheet.

"But why is the world first rewards and world rankings available only now on the second day?" he asked out loud, genuinely confused.

Deryn understood now thanks to the explanation of the system. The most important part of that the system is constantly evolving. This meant the potential for the system to gain new features were not low which made him look forward to the future.

Deryn was lost in thought.

Still in the midst of pondering he woke up out of his reverie. He decided to go to the training area where he would use the items he purchased last night and to claim the rare chest from his 4th place reward.

Spear in hand and the spearman experience book in another Deryn focused upon the book. After a few moments motes of light, which he now realised was mana, were released from his hands gathering into the book. With a flash of white, the book vanished but in its place, a system notification went off.

Deryn felt his mind filled with knowledge relating to the use of spears. From how to properly hold the spear, to how to properly handle and hold it and how to attack with the spear using lunge, piercing, thrusting and sweeping attacks.

In an instant, he had gained a year's worth of rigorous systemised training in the way of the spear. Right when the knowledge settled his body uncontrollably got up and started performing what he learnt. There was a burning feeling across his entire body with wisps of mana from the surroundings gathering before moving towards his mouth where it got inhaled and distributed evenly to his body.

10 minutes went by like this before he regained control of his body. This was the book adapting his body accordingly.

The skill appeared in the format of a tightly bound scroll covered in motes of green and blue light. By focusing upon it like the spearman book, the skill scroll disappeared before he went into a state of comprehension.

This time he could control his body but his thoughts ran rampant, revolving entirely around the skill, comprehending it at a rapid pace. While he was in this state of enlightenment he controlled his body subconsciously to carry out the phantom lunge.

Striking out with his spear rapidly leading spear phantoms piercing into the wood stacked in front of him.

"Mixing the real with the illusionary, what a profound scroll..." Deryn uttered in sheer amazement.

Deryn relished in the comfortable feeling throughout his body. His body was now improved in all aspects and his stats were now all higher than an average human, with his intelligence even being 1.4x so.

The most noticeable difference he could feel as he moved around was how fast and light he felt. Moving now required less effort due to his increased strength but also was a lot faster due to the increase in agility.

The difference in his intelligence and vitality was harder to see, the only noticeable thing he could find at this moment about those two stats were his mind and body felt like they had been refreshed.

Although he knew one thing for sure, and that was at this moment his survival chances were better than they had ever been before.

Sending his mind back into his < INVENTORY > Deryn focused upon the silver chest.

"aiy... as expected of a silver chest, the rewards whilst not increasing my strength directly still increased my survival chances" Deryn exclaimed.

The map and crystal especially shocked Deryn as he didn't know such things even existed before now. Learning that there are elemental crystals in addition to plain mana crystals made him realise there was still much to discover on the theory of mana let alone throughout the entire doomsday world.

Pulling the map out of his inventory he opted to use one right away. The once blank map was now being rapidly being covered with numerous images. It started from the shelter, which was drawn as an outline of a house, before swiftly drawing the surroundings in a 10km x 10 km radius.

There was the forest that took over around 40% of the 10km x 10km map, which was the direction his shelter was facing. The remaining 60% of the map was the hilly plains where he situated his shelter.

Further dotted around the map were little tents shown in bundles. After focusing upon one of them and zooming in it appeared to be a kobold camp.

Deryn was dumbfounded. He knew what a kobold was but only in terms of reading them in novels during his time on earth, shocked that they were not only real but they were also within a few km of where he put his shelter.

The nearest one to his base was a little under 2km away, and upon zooming in there were three tents shown. Depending on how many kobolds lived in a tent, Deryn could find himself facing a minimum of three enemies. Enemies who knew how to use tools, which made them a lot more dangerous than the boars he had killed before.

Realising this Deryn knew he had to go over and see the camp. He needed to find out not only how many kobolds were living close by to him, but also what they looked like and what tools they used.

Looking over the map Deryn counted 4 such encampments in the plains, with the furthest being directly on the edge of the map around 6km away from him towards the mountains and had 6 tents shown but more could be there due to the map not showing beyond that area.

The two others were dotted towards the left side of the map around 4km away and each had 6 tents. Weirdly those two encampments were only a few hundred metres away from each other.

Deryn was unsure if they belonged to the same tribe or if they were fighting each other but more information gathering would have to be carried out either way.

"The silver chest really does take the users situation into account". Deryn muttered.

"So, chests of higher tiers have a higher chance of catering towards my needs. Does that mean higher rarity chests are aimed at my immediate needs or potential future needs?"

"Thank you system". This cleared up a few doubts Deryn had about chests of higher rarity.

After a quick breakfast from the daily rations, it was now 10 am. Deryn restocked the water collector of fuel before emptying the 2.5litres of water into the water storage tank. After organising his items he decided that now was the best time to head out, as the quicker he can gather information the quicker he can come up with potential countermeasures.

Pinning the Kobold settlement on the map, a dotted line appeared directing Deryn. He walked out of the shelter with the map in hand, beginning his journey to gather more information.
