chapter 42: Ice vs Fire

James was pushing himself to the limits, no matter how much he tried it wasn't enough to defeat her, James never faced D ranked hero in his lifetime, or not at least a life-and-death circumstance.

He was using everything in his Arsenal in this battle that he learned from his father who was an A-ranked hero and a powerful Fire mage

Usually, Mages only trained their magic to fight in battles but his father trained him in both physical and Magic so in the future, if there was any situation occurred when his mana would've depleted completely then he wouldn't be useless so his father decided to train him since he was a kid before he awakes his powers.

James trained his agility to avoid spells, Stamina, and a little bit of strength, he didn't like his father's thinking a bit as he was thinking why Fire mage have to train in agility, stamina, and other stuff it was completely unnecessary, his thinking changed since he becomes fire mage but now his perception changed when he was facing another Same ranked mage in the battle, he was grateful that at least he has had some skills to rely on other than his Fire element...

It was getting harder and harder to hit Wendy with fire as she always made an ice wall to protect herself from his attacks. James was avoiding her attacks by rolling and jumping every time but still, he didn't forget to attack her

Various ice spikes come in the direction of James, James puts his hands on the ground and in instant made a firewall in front of him, Ice spikes dissolved rapidly after they coming contact with Firewall

James mana was on the verge of depleting by his defensive spell, however, wendy was kept making spikes to attack him.

The fire was an Offensive element, unlike ice that could be able to use both offensive and defensive, both elements have their advantages and disadvantages. there were only a few clans could able to use Fire as a defense and one of the clans that knew how to manipulate fire was the Tiger clan...

Every move made by James, detected by wendy and before he could do anything, she was managing to counter-attacks. James tried few other things to come close enough to attack her but he failed miserably.

James wanted to use his fire breath on wendy but for that spell, he has to gather mana and then attack her, like the last time when he killed that guy using fire breath. previously he had gathered mana and then used that attack in hope of even somehow that guy managed to stay alive he could able to kill him with ease but this situation was different James was not sure even his last spell could able to kill her.

James trows a small fireball at her and she quickly made a small ice wall, as that fireball hit that wall the explosion emerged and because of that James got an idea. James summoned fireballs in his hands as he started heading for wendy

"It... no use flame boy " Wendy made ice wall using her both palms but unexpected to Wendy James started attacking the surface.

One after another James shot his fireballs in front of him as he was running ahead, that fireballs were making a thick cloud of dust, and James using them as his cover.

Wendy's eyes widen as she realized what was James was planning to do, ice wall vanished in the air as Wendy put her hands on the ground

" Not ... going to happen "

James was only a few feet away from her but suddenly his both legs froze with ice, her attack stooped him abruptly " Shit "

James started using his magic so he could move again but when his gaze falls on wendy his eyes widen in fear.

Wendy began collecting mana as if she wanted to attack James with frostbite, James realized that he was in grave danger, if he had to stop her then he has to do something before she does, James finally managed to free himself and move away for a safe distance and began to gather mana.

Wendy gathered lots of mana within herself for a powerful attack as her eyes turn entirely snowy, She used her full power in this attack. unfortunately, James didn't get enough time to gather all mana but as he saw her attacks headed for him he also used fire breath

James' weak Attack clashed with wendys powerful attack, James realized that her attack was on another level if by any chance he were too slightly weaker than her, he already had turned into an ice statue.

The ground shook as their attacks clashed with the sound of the winds, dirt, and chunks of the stones shot up the sky... big And giant Ball of ice and fire created between them but unlike last time, big crater began to shape in the ground in a matter of seconds, big explosion formed making both of them flew back distances away

Don snatched the Rounded metal shield from a girl's hands with kicking her and when he prepared to attack again a huge wave of the wind rushed past him forced him to put his shield in front of his face, That girl who was fighting with Don dropped on the ground because of the intense atmosphere created by those two.

Fortunately, Don and That girl were fighting at the distance from them so they didn't come in a wide range of that explosion but still That wave formed by an explosion was strong enough to make Don step back few steps and then he drooped that shield on the ground

James stood up as the blood comes from his mouth, he realized his Mana has depleted almost 80% " I can't lose...she ... is ... monster" he said as coughing mouth full of blood between the words

Wendy also got injured but still, her eyes didn't change to normal, nor there were any signs of her mana depleted. Wendy created a big Sword from the ice above her head as she started laughing hypothetically " This is ... your...end"

" He is not going to make it " Don saw the condition of James and again glance at wendy.

Another girl who was previously fighting with Don Stood on the ground picking up the sword and walked behind Don after seeing him distracted.

when she makes sure that she was close enough to attack she swung her sword in a horizontal direction towards his Back

A big wound came out after that hit on Dons back making him stumbled forward in pain

Don averted his gaze at her in anger, but when he saw she was moving forward to attack again he minimized the distance between them and grabbed her neck with his both hands

" you should have gone for the head ... like me ..."

Don Twisted her neck opposite direction with using his strength,

Few massages popped up in front of his screen, His injuries healed, Only blood traces were left on his previous wounds

Don rushed towards James and wendy along with the rounded metal shield in his hands
