Chapter 52
“Can I?” he asked.
The pet was afraid Gideon would say no. He didn’t need to feel the slight quiver in his muscles to know that much was true. It was actually a little endearing, and for a moment, memory didn’t make a difference. He leaned closer and brushed his mouth over Jesse’s, sweeping his tongue along as well so that he tasted the man’s heat, too.
“I still expect some explanations, though,” he said when he pulled back. “Don’t think I’ve just forgotten everything that’s happened tonight.”
Jesse nodded. “I can explain a few things now. I made it out of the house because John has been working on the spell. I stopped you from feeding because of Michelle. I just…didn’t want her to try to hurt you. The last thing we need is a fight during all of this shit.”
Gideon snorted. “I’m not afraid of a Guardian. All they do is play with their books all day.”
