Hidden Quest

"Hello! I am here to take on a quest." Said Daniel to the lady sitting on a wooden chair in front of him. She was an elf with stunning looks. Her sharp blue eyes scanned Daniel, making him feel uneasy.

"Hmm… What kind of quest do you want?" The elf put a chart on the table in front of her. Different kinds of tasks and quests were written on the chart along with the rewards for completing them.

Daniel closely observed the chart, trying to find a good quest for himself. 2 minutes passed and he still kept staring at the chart. "Are there any other quests?" He finally spoke to the elf.

"Yes…" the elf nodded and took out a whole bundle of charts. She opened the bundle, showing every single chart to Daniel. To her disbelief, Daniel was interested in none. He didn't want such lousy quests and wanted a quest that rewarded him generously.

"Sir, these are the only quests available at your current level, please try to understand." Said the elf, slightly annoyed by Daniel. She thought that Daniel was trying to waste her time, so she decided not to pay attention to him.

While this was happening, Lumi was watching from the sidelines. She went mad when she saw the elf acting rudely in front of Daniel. She cast a buff of charm and luck on Daniel, greatly raising his affinity with the elf.

A smile formed on the elf's face. She said, "Ah, mighty player of the outer world, would you like to take on the special quest to save the young high elf?" She tried to sound as polite as possible.

'Huh?!' Daniel frowned upon seeing the sudden change in her tone. Just a moment ago, she was not even paying attention to him and now, she was flattering him. More importantly, the 'Special quest' caught his interest. He was sure that this was what the players call a 'Hidden quest!'

He was screaming inside his mind. His luck knows no bounds, that's what he thought. Suddenly, he realized that it was Lumi's buff. He got 2 notifications, stating that Lumi had cast the buff of Luck and Charm on him, increasing his affinity with the elf by 100%.

'Wai-! Isn't this a cheat skill then? I can easily get hidden quests with these buffs!' He exclaimed inside his mind, staring blankly at Lumi for a few moments before shifting his gaze back to the elf lady.

"Sure, it's my pleasure to help you!" He politely replied and nodded. He saw the elf taking out a piece of high-quality paper with something written on it. The picture of a young, beautiful girl was attached to it.

"Thank you very much for accepting this quest, adventurer! I- No… the elven alliance will be forever indebted to you if you can finish this quest!"

The elf said with tears gushing out of her eyes. She wiped them off using her sleeves and smiled awkwardly at Daniel. "Sorry, I got a bit emotional… I wish you luck, kind adventurer." The elf lady took out a compass and put it on Daniel's hands.

"This compass will guide you to your destination… please be safe." The lady went back to her seat, waving at Daniel.

Daniel nodded before heading out of the quest alliance building. He felt like helping the elves could bring him unimaginable fortunes. For this reason, he had to complete this quest as fast as possible.

He quickly took the compass out of his inventory, looking in the direction where the little needle was pointing. "To the west!" He remembered that the elf forest was located on the western side of the city. He quickly rushed to the western city gate.

Upon arriving outside of the city, he didn't forget to save the city in the teleportation book. (Reminder: The player will be teleported to their room or house whenever he selects the city as the teleport location. If he doesn't have a house, he will be teleported to the place where he saved the location.)

After the location was saved, he rushed to the elven forest. Because of his high agility stat, he arrived there in just 15 minutes. "Investing in the agility stat paid off…" he thought to himself, remembering how a player was crying on the forums, saying how far the forest location was. For players with normal agility, it would usually take around 45 minutes, but for Daniel, it was only a 15-minute journey.

He entered the forest upon arriving. Lumi was sitting silently on his shoulder, not bothering to look at the scenery. "Gosh, you're getting lazier, Lumi." Daniel chuckled and patted her head.

He kept walking in the direction the compass needle was pointing. He didn't have any clue of where he was going and what awaited him ahead, but he had to believe in the compass. Quest items can't lie to the player, if something wrong happens, it is either the player's mistake or a part of the quest.

He slowed down upon hearing some humans talking to each other. He remembered that not many players were found in this area of the forest. He sneakily hid behind a tall bush and peeked at the humans. It was a whole camp set by a group. There were 6 tents, a campfire, and 14 humans on the site.

Daniel was just observing the surroundings when his eyes suddenly fell on a sturdy little iron cage. He looked at the compass, its needle was pointing at the cage. Daniel went closer to the campsite, taking the risk to get a good view of what was inside the cage.

As he got close enough, he peeked at the small cage, only to be stunned. What he saw inside the cage was horrifying for even a monster like him. "Ugh… What the hell?!" He screamed inside his mind. He couldn't even look at the cage now. He felt enraged, how could humans commit such vicious crimes? His thoughts were running wild.

"S-save me…" Suddenly, a soft but painful voice left the cage.
