"If you can't afford it, you're just causing trouble!"
The salesperson watched as Su Wen and her two companions got out of the car to look at another one, and with a look of disdain, he snorted and pulled out a cloth to wipe down the seats they had been in.
Bai Kemeng was walking behind them, but she heard what the salesperson said.
"Hey, what did you say? Who can't afford a car?"
Seeing this, the salesperson also got irritated. She had been at the car show for two days without making any sales, and her enthusiasm had all but worn off.
"I'm talking about you three. A guy brings two girls to look at cars, all dressed in plain and shabby clothes. I just greeted you out of boredom—I didn't really think you were VIPs."
Bai Kemeng couldn't stand to be insulted like that. She turned her head and called out to Su Wen not too far away, "Su Wen, this guy is saying we can't afford the car!"
Su Wen had heard the exchange between the two as well.
