Distress Call

Adam meets his old university crush in a high-end restaurant and discovers her doing something unimaginable; trying to jump off the building. He manages to take her home and tie her down, in case she tries to do it again. However, when she wakes up, he discovers she was much different than the person she was while they were in university. Filled with renewed hope, he pursues her again and this time, he won't take no for an answer. Enter a serial killer into the equation, you know there's going to be drama. Warning; lots of angst and psychological elements but is still a refreshing read. There are also elements of capture so if you're sensitive to that, don't read too much meaning into it. Hope you enjoy it

Chapter 10

"I told you about his obsession last time. He…..tied me to the bed this morning after kidnapping me from my home"

"He did WHAT?!!!"

"Relax, everything's fine now. He's on antimanics"

"You didn't call the police but took him to a hospital instead? Can you clearly see what is wrong with that?"

"What I did was merely fast forwarding the process. He still would've ended up in an institution either way. It was partially my fault so I brought him here. Actually, it wasn't my fault to begin with. It was his delusions that brought us here"

"Giselle....."

"I'm okay. I might be missing from frequently from work so I'm warning you in advance"

"Oh don't you dare…."

"Hanging up now, talk to you later. Bye, muah~~"

Matthew was outraged when Giselle dropped the call. He really wondered who the delusional one was between her and Adam. He was still ultimately concerned.

Giselle's unruffled state of mind was one of the reasons why she was a good doctor but that same state acquired the ire of many because they genuinely thought she was ignoring them. Well, she mostly was but there was no need to make it obvious. He didn't call back, very clear on Giselle's stubbornness.

Giselle had something important to do so she worked on her phone while Adam did his session. When he came out, she was only halfway through. He sat beside her, looking more haggard then when he walked in.

"Do you want to tell me or should I wait?"

"He said we should keep some distance from each other"

"Well that outcome was obvious. Anything else?"

"He also said that rather than me being a threat to you, it is you who is a threat to me. I didn't understand it"

"For now, you don't need to. Wait here for a while, I'm going in"

Adam nodded and relaxed on his chair, his long legs stretching out before him. Giselle passed over them before walking into the consultation room.

Dr. Monroe was drinking a bottle of water when she came in. He gently set it down and waited for her to speak.

"What did you tell him?"

"Stop using such an accusatory tone with me. I thought you were fine with me telling him since you brought him here. You haven't brought anyone here ever and I thought you at least liked him"

"He was sick and needed help"

"Most of the time, you'd ignore people like him except they came to you themselves. Why is he an exception?"

"Did he not tell you anything? I had to bring him here. Taking him to Matthew wouldn't have helped"

"Are you here to argue with me?"

"I'm here with a request. Don't rouse his curiosity too much. He doesn't need to know the specifics of my illness"

"But you're finally getting better! Not many people even know you are ill and you tell this complete stranger….."

"He's not a stranger. He knew me from uni"

"Well, do you remember him?"

"No....."

Dr. Monroe sighed in frustration. Giselle was honestly a difficult patient. It was worsened with the fact that they worked the same path.

"Your appointment is tomorrow. Come back then and let's talk"

"Then have a good day, Dr. Monroe"

Giselle walked back into the lobby and went back to the front desk to settle some paperwork. She returned to see Adam dozing off on the chair. The image was discordant with his almost 2 meters tall height.

She lightly tapped him and told him it was time to return. He yawned and followed her to the car. He noticed there was a white plastic bag in her hand with the clinic's logo on it. She noticed his stare and explained.

"It's yours. A few antimanics and more prescriptions. Some of them are for emergencies only and the rest, you just need to take them at night"

"Oh okay. Send me your bank details so I can pay the bill"

"I don't even know what the bill is. It has been charged to my tab. I normally clear it every month so don't worry about it"

"Okay

After setting the GPS, she revved the engine and drove out of the parking lot, putting them on their way back to Adam's house. He was dozing in his seat so she decided to just let him sleep.

The sight of a sleepy Adam should be cute~~ >~<
