The first thing Diamant felt was the unsteady rocking of wherever it was that she was in and the jamming headache that had seized her.
She could hear the distant running of water from somewhere far away.
She opened her eyes painfully, the images she saw at first were quite blurry. She blinked a couple of times and it got clearer.
"My Lady!" Lewis ran to Diamant's bedside. "Oh My Lady! I'm so glad you are alright."
Diamant eased herself up on one elbow and immediately felt him trying to help her up. "Lord Lewis." She called out weakly, her throat aching. He got a glass of water and she drank it all in one gulp.
Why was she so thirsty? What had happened? Where was this?
"I was so scared. If anything had happened to you...I don't know what I would have done. The king would know everything... he..." Lewis spoke quickly, his words stumbling over one another and fading away while Diamant was trying to remember what had happened.
The fire! Diamant's eyes lit with remembrance.
