27. An Important Announcement

Other than Layla and Clara who were a 'little' uncomfortable with Seekvaira, there were no other issues. Most of the discomfort came from the fact that she was from the 'Agares' pillar which is way more powerful than all of our pillars combined. 

"Devils of the underworld, I Zoeticus Gremory would like to express my gratitude for your presence in tonight's event. Tonight, my little grandson Millicas is turning 3 years old. As a gift for my beloved grandson, one-third of the entire Gremory property will belong to him." This got a lot of shocked expressions from the devil public. "But that is not the only announcement that I have to make tonight. I would love to announce that my dear daughter 'Rias Gremory' is being engaged to 'Riser Phenex' of the Phenex pillar."

The crowd burst out into cheers as the engagement of Sirzechs's sister was a huge event. Some were happy while the others looked jealous. For most of them, the little sister of Sirzechs was nothing more than a gravy train while for the rest, she was like a trophy of status. 

I don't think she will have any say in this situation… poor her.

Heh. Who am I kidding? I don't care what happens to any of them.

"So, it's the casanova of the phenex." Seekvaira mumbled while furrowing her eyebrows a little.

"Casanova?" Now it was my turn to raise an eyebrow.

"He is said to have slept with over a hundred women. And to him, they are nothing more than toys." Surprisingly it was Layla who answered with Clara agreeing with her. 

"I see." 

Being a playboy is not a big deal. But letting the whole underworld know about it is quite foolish.

We are devils. We do not follow the rules laid out by God or humans. But that doesn't mean we don't have honor. If anything, for us honor is as important as our lives. 

I don't think Riser Phenex is a bad guy. I cannot judge him before I meet the guy in person. Having a harem is not uncommon within the underworld. But some people still don't like it.

In all honesty, humans are no different. Despite having a wife many men have affairs with other women… and the same can be said for the women as well. This is actually worse than devils because unlike devils who openly show the fact that they have more lovers, humans don't. They hide it, and when their lover finds out… it destroys them. 

That's why I can't judge Riser. Because if he hasn't raped any women… he isn't a bad guy. 

But the women didn't seem like they felt the same. Most of the females had a wrinkled nose when Riser's name was announced. Especially Rias, who looked downright spooked. The color was drained from her face when Zoeticus announced her finacé's name.

"I am surprised that you didn't know about the Phenex's youngest son." Seekvaira said with a playful smile. 

"I know about Ruval Phenex. And I did know that Lord of the Phenex had two more sons and a daughter… but I never bothered to learn their name." I said honestly. 

None of his other children were worth my time. I know about Ruval because of the fact that he had been within the Top 10 Rankers of the Rating Games. And he is also the heir of the Phenex pillar.

"Understandable. Lord Ruval is very famous and is always under the spotlight. Thus the other children of the Phenex are often overlooked." Said Clara.

"Hn."

"Now, everyone. I have a final announcement to make." 

Another one?

"This year's Devil Kids Tournament will be sponsored by the Gremory and the Phenex pillar." He said which made everyone shout in joy.

'Devil Kids Tournament' is a championship where devils from the age of 10 to 13 compete against each other to see who is the 'Strongest Devil Kid.' 

The title is similar to the 'Strongest Youth' title. The reason for hosting this competition is to see how much a devil can improve. That is to check whether the possessor of the 'Strongest Devil Kid' title can also obtain the 'Strongest Devil' title or not. 

This also brings in a lot of money for the hosts… how? 

Simple, Gambling. Every devil can bet on who they think will win. And this brings in a lot of money

"What do you think will be the prize for this year's event?" Layla whispered.

Yes, the champion of this tournament is rewarded similarly to the champion of any other tournament. But every year the prize is different. Last year it was a custom gadget developed by Ajuka, and before that was a role in Serafall's show... Which I hope is not the prize for this year.

"This year's prize is quite simple but also the best."

Hoo~ Now I am curious.

"The winner will get to work under one of the Devil Kings of their choice, for a total of three months." This made the audience explode in cheers.

Most of the children had stars in their eyes. Working under the Devil Kings is like a dream come true. Many devils have to wait for months just to talk to them… despite the Devil Kings being free most of the time. 

This was the biggest prize a child could wish for, working under their idols for three months.

While for me… it meant something totally different. It meant 'opportunities' and a lot of them.

It didn't even take me a second to decide which Devil King I wanted to work under.

"So… who are you going to choose?" Seekvair asked Clara.

"Hm. I don't know yet" she looked towards me. "What about you Shisui?"

"Well… It's a surprise." I said with a playful smirk.

"Heh. You think you are going to win." Seekvaira asked with a smirk.

"Maybe~" I countered with a smirk of my own.

"He might win! He is actually pretty strong. He def- *Ouch!*" 

Nice save Layla! If not for Layla pinching Clara. She would have blurted out about the entire 'Honor Duel' incident. Even though it was held within school hours, other than our homeroom teacher and Arfon, no one else knows about it. It was held within the training arena, which was underground, so not many know about it.

And those who knew were forced to keep their mouth shut by the higher pillars.

"He what?" Seekvaira.

"Nothing… I just defeated her. So she thinks I am strong." I said rolling my eyes.

"That might also mean that he is not strong but you are weak." She said playfully which made Clara stomp her feet.

"So everyone, I hope you all are ready… Because next week will be the start of the tournament!" 

This is bound to be interesting.

[A/N: I know that the quality has dropped significantly since the previous 2 chapters including this one. But I am/was kind of rushing for this mini-tournament arc. I will rewrite these 3 chapters Later. I will try to improve the quality from the next chapter onwards. (hopefully, it improves.)

And I was kind of busy with my new projects (Marvel one and the Fairy tail/Shazam one.)

The next chapter will begin a new arc... Which should be kind of interesting.
