A reason to see her again

"Who ca…"

Someone stopped mid-sentence upon taking in his appearance. He saw a very old looking woman sitting beside a fire stove who had just the same reaction to the woman he met at the door.

What is up with these reactions? He thought to himself. Wait, is it that they know who I am? He slightly panicked inside. He couldn't read any one of their minds. Who are these strange people? He thought to himself again, surprised that he couldn't reach their minds.

"He is lost and hungry." The woman behind him finally said and he noticed there was a slight sarcastic tinge to her tone. He couldn't help but look back at her and found her staring at him already. There definitely was something in her eyes he was failing to understand.

"Lost indeed." The old woman remarked in her shaggy voice.

"Hmm?" He raised an eyebrow and the woman behind him coughed.

He was purely confused if anything at the moment.

"Mama?"
