Chapter 4: Awakening
Meanwhile, amidst the joyous celebration of the birth of their newborn twins, Liang and Fang, the atmosphere in the lavish chambers of the Shi Clan's castle shifted as the infants opened their eyes for the first time in their new lives.
Their tiny, curious gazes swept across the ornate surroundings of the chamber, filled with opulent furnishings and shimmering tapestries. However, their innocent wonderment quickly turned to shock and confusion as a sudden and intense pain surged through their tiny bodies, causing them to cry out in distress.
The cries of the newborns echoed off the walls of the chamber, a poignant reminder of their recent entry into the world. As the pain intensified with each passing moment, memories from their past lives flooded their consciousness, adding to their disorientation.
Liang and Fang found themselves overwhelmed by conflicting emotions—bewilderment at their new surroundings, discomfort from the intense pain, and a profound sense of déjà vu as their previous life memories resurfaced
Liang's POV:
As I opened my eyes to the new world, a rush of sensations overwhelmed me—the warmth of the room, the soft touch of the couple's hands, and the piercing cry of my newborn brother beside me. But amidst the cacophony of my senses, there was something else, something stirring deep within my soul.
A sharp pang pierced through me, a sudden jolt of agony that seemed to emanate from the very core of my being. It was as if every fiber of my being was being torn apart and stitched back together again, a relentless onslaught of pain that threatened to consume me whole.
With each passing moment, the pain intensified, wrapping around me like a suffocating shroud. It felt as though my mind was being stretched and twisted, memories clawing their way to the surface with agonizing force. Images flashed before my eyes in a dizzying whirlwind—faces I once knew, places I once called home, and emotions I once felt with every fiber of my being.
But alongside the memories came a sense of profound disorientation, as if I were being pulled in a thousand different directions at once. The lines between past and present blurred, reality shifting and bending in ways I could scarcely comprehend.
Through gritted teeth, I clenched my fists, willing myself to endure the onslaught. I knew that this was the price of remembering, the inevitable consequence of reclaiming a past that had been lost to the sands of time.
And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the pain began to recede, leaving behind a lingering ache that pulsed with each beat of my heart. As I blinked away the tears that blurred my vision, I met the gaze of the couple before me, my breath coming in ragged gasps.
In the midst of the chaos, a voice echoed in the recesses of my mind, whispering words of confusion and uncertainty. "What is this place? Who am I? Where do I belong?" I grappled with the questions, feeling adrift in a sea of uncertainty.
Fang's POV:
As Fang opened his eyes to the world, confusion and bewilderment engulfed him. "Where am I? What in the hell is this place?" he thought, his mind racing with questions. Memories flooded back to him—a desperate act, darkness, and then... this. Was this heaven or hell? For a moment, his thoughts faltered as he beheld the sight of his mother in this new life—a woman of unparalleled beauty. "Surely, this must be heaven," he mused, awestruck by her radiance. "And even if it's hell, it's worth it."
Suddenly, a searing pain jolted him awake, memories surging to the forefront of his mind. Was this the legendary reincarnation spoken of in novels and anime? Had he truly been reborn from Earth? Countless questions swirled in his head, but there were no answers to be found. Instead, he was met with the sight of a baby—his sibling in this new existence.
"Hmm, so they're my parents," Fang observed, taking in the features of the couple before him. "Well, since I'm their child, I'll surely be handsome," he chuckled to himself, already envisioning a future filled with admirers. "Perhaps I can even have a harem," he mused, his thoughts drifting to fantasies of power and adoration.
But amidst his aspirations, there was a nagging uncertainty—was he to be a hero or a villain in this new life? "Who cares," Fang shrugged, dismissing the question with a wave of his hand. "I'll just seize whatever opportunities come my way." After all, he was alive, and that was all that mattered.
As he pondered his newfound existence, Fang couldn't help but wonder about the mysterious "golden finger" he had heard of in tales of reincarnation. "Where is my golden finger thingy?" he muttered, searching for any sign of the fantastical power he had imagined. "Hello? System? Anyone there?" he called out, hoping for a response.
And then, unexpectedly, a mechanical voice echoed in his mind, cold and detached. "Condition fulfilled," it intoned, sending a shiver down Fang's spine. "Host found to be perfectly suitable." With a sense of foreboding, Fang braced himself for what was to come. "System initializing," the voice continued, its words ominous in their implications. "Binding to host." And with a final warning, Fang braced himself for the inevitable. "Warning: process may be painful."
