Desperate To Live

*Maybe my soulmate died. Idk. Or maybe I don’t have a soul* - Iamnotshane. Jayden lives by only two rules. Rule 1: Never fall in love. Rule 2: Always remember rule one. He has always followed this principle after learning that he has stage four cancer and has only a few months to live. Jayden chose not to hurt any women as long as they did not fall in love with him because he was a cold handsome playboy who carries a deadly aura, but adored by all. His gray eyes were ravishing, and he had exquisite flawless skin. He was adored by everyone until he met a girl named Freda. Freda was a twenty-nine-year-old autistic patient, and Jayden was twenty-seven years old cancer patient. On their first encounter, Jayden, who enjoys being around women, sees Freda as a red flag due to her disability and her choice of clothing. He had sworn to himself that he would never run into Freda again, but fate couldn’t be more cooperative as they continued to bump into each other. Due to an unexpected situation, Freda has no other option but to start working in Jayden’s mansion. Freda pledged that she would fix the playboy’s heart so that he would fall in love with someone because she sees no reason why he avoids being in a relationship, but little did she know that she would fall for him instead. “But what if she discovers she is in love with a cancer patient? Will she suppress her emotions or work to make Jayden’s life as happy as possible before he dies?” “Will love save the day when death calls?” This book evokes a wide range of emotions.

Quit her new job.

Jayden sighed and rolled his eyes. "I made you to be my maid?" He inquired, and Freda promptly nodded.

She was tempted to show him the contract that they both signed, but she must be cautious since Jayden may end up doing something that she would later regret. "I would love to show you the contract, but I can't right now. I haven't photocopied the contract, so if I have to show you and you shred it, the contract is null and void." She elaborated.

He rolled his eyes one more before exhaling. "No, I didn't…"

Jayden came to a standstill on the spot as something occurred to him. It was the contract incident, and he recalled telling Freda that if she didn't answer his question last night, he wouldn't sign the contract.

Jayden remembered distinctly asking her to answer a question about whether she had just seen the doctor since his heart had been stolen.

Jayden felt humiliated as he remembered all that had happened. He felt embarrassed for himself and had no idea what to say.

He has to make her quit!

"It appears that you have now recalled everything that happened the prior night, therefore as I already stated, I'd prefer it if you treat me nicely." She said, Her voice was firm, and she didn't want Jayden to take her remarks lightly.

Jayden's shoulder sank, his eyes were locked on the ground, and he briefly clenched his hand. He breathed out. "Do you know how to cook a meal? I'm starving?" He stated as he stared at the ground, rather than staring at her.

Freda already predicts his intentions, but she needs to get back to her residence to take a bath. She still needs to prepare herself so that she can return to her secretary profession. Beside, she has two occupations that she adores.

As she stated, her gaze was serene. "A maid is a single girl or lady. A maidservant is typically a lady or girl hired to undertake domestic tasks. Housemaids should not be permitted to cook in households. They are maids, and their duties should be limited to housework. They are responsible for cleaning, organizing, sweeping, dishwashing, and a variety of other tasks."

Jayden was taken aback by her audacious statement. She had a unique way with words, and he despised the fact that she always had something to say.

Whenever he speaks to her, she always knows the definition of his remark, and she enjoys behaving smart.

"But I'm hungry; do you want your employer to get terribly hungry?"

Freda paused for a moment, unsure what to say. She doesn't want to be rude to him because he was her boss.

She shifted her gaze to the puzzle box and peered at it intently. "While driving you to your mansion last night, I believe I noticed a restaurant that's nearby. You can eat your breakfast there."

Jayden was completely taken aback. She always had a word to use as a comeback, just as he had considered.

He returned to the dining room and took a seat on the chair. "You are a maid, and because my house is dirty, I want you to resume your duty right away." Jayden's abrupt declaration had taken her by surprise.

Freda had to lift her brows as she averted her gaze away from the puzzle box. "Won't you be heading to the company, sir?"

Jayden grinned.

He expected her to deny his offer to resume work right away, but she continues to surprise him.

"I'll head to the company. What's your purpose for inquiring?"

His eyes were fixed on Freda, and he was still smirking. He found it amusing to see what she had to do.

Judging from her petite figure he believes that she can't even do proper house chores.

Freda sighed as she pushed her circular goggles backwards. "I'll have to officially resume tomorrow. If you are so desperate to get your house cleaned up then I'm going to come back at night time so that I can do the needful."

Jayden smirked. This childlike lady was very unique. She spoke to him with so much confidence.

He wondered why she hadn't fallen for his enticing phrases the night before. Any woman to whom he said a few sentences would drool on their body and willingly submit to him.

Some females will fall for him even before he uses some sexy lines on them, while others will fall for him without even being spoken to.

Jayden has had numerous experiences in which his sight alone draws women to him.

He was a playboy for a reason, right?

"What if I say I need you to take care of my house right away? I'm absolutely going to pay you for it, so all you have to do is obey your employer." Jayden enquired. His voice was chilly, and he wanted her to be afraid of deviating from his word.

She looked at her puzzle box and began playing with it. Her eyes were filled with many unspoken words.

It seemed she was holding herself from saying something.

Jayden patiently waited for her to speak up, but the longer he waited, the more he became disappointed.

He would gladly do whatever it takes to force Freda to quit her new job.

Jayden despised bumping into Freda and he thought it was best if they avoided one another because she wasn't the perfect maid for him.

"Are you scared of giving me a reply?"

He expected her to say something after his statement, but he was mistaken.

Freda continued staring at her puzzle box.

Jayden frowned and sighed.

Why does she keep her gaze fixed on that puzzle?

He closed the gap between them and, because he was taller than Freda, he stared down at her. "Won't you respond to me?" He inquired once more.

Freda's attention was still drawn to the puzzle box. She does not want to respond to him, and as an autistic patient, she cannot lie. She would prefer to ignore the person in order to avoid lying.

She turned around and sat on the couch.

Jayden scowls. No lady had ever ignored him like Freda was doing right now.

Women would fight among themselves to speak to him, but Freda ignored him as if he were garbage.

He walked over to the couch and sat besides Freda, watching her play with her puzzle box.

He took the puzzle box from her grasp when she least expected it.

"Hey. Give it back!" Freda yelled as she turned around to get off the couch.

Jayden was still seated, so he raised his hands in the air, and Freda struggled to reach his hands as he moved from one position to another.

She was still struggling to grab a grip of the puzzle box when Jayden drew the hand that he was holding the puzzle box, and he drew it close to his face.

Freda, who was struggling, came to a halt because she had unexpectedly lowered her face towards his, and their faces were just a few inches apart, almost as if they were ready to kiss.

Her heart began to beat as she stared at Jayden, admiring his facial features.
