Hunting Down For a Witness

Orion was many things, but never once in his lifetime did Dean ever think that the information about the current whereabouts of one of Mick's servants would come from him. Dean was both pleasantly surprised and questioning Orion's method of gathering information.

"Dude, I meant, seriously?" Dean looked at the logbook that Orion gave to him. Out of all things that he considered as information gathering, never once did this weird method ever crosses his mind.

The logbook was literally a list of women. He didn't know how Orion got them, he didn't want to know either. It included their phone numbers, their social media, their address, and a little small note that whoever this author put on the far left side of the note.

The note presented Dean with a woman, probably in her 30's and working for a man named Mick Harsen. At first, when Orion presented the name, Dean wasn't sure that Mick Harsen was the same Mick that he was looking for. The asshole was too insignificant to be remembered by his last name.

"Yeah, this is a treasure I found when I was walking in the Almara Central park, want a copy?" Orion asked.

"I don't know? I don't want to contact any of these women, they might be married or something. I didn't want to take the risk. Besides, what kind of stalker wrote this book?" Dean wondered. The logbook really looked more like a guest list than anything.

"I don't know. Heck, don't even ask me. Still, I'll keep it," Orion answered.

"You dingus… Back to the topic, you sure this is the right address?" Dean asked.

"Perhaps? And dude, what's up with the threads?" Orion asked on the way how Dean dressed.

Dean was wearing black cargo pants alongside with black parka jacket in front of his gray t-shirt and a ballistic vest. Inside of his parka jacket was one lockpicking kit alongside his Glock 18 and three magazines filled with 9x19 mm non-lethal bullets. Not only that, but he also put a black neck gaiter in his neck that could act as face concealment. His boots were the usual combat boots that the academy gave to him.

"I'm about to do something some people consider as crime, so, yeah," Dean answered.

"Damn, good luck man, for a first date, you are not that convincing," Orion joked.

"Hahaha, who wants to date a widow?" Dean asked back.

Dean left his dormitory behind as the clock exactly hit 24:00. He was exhausted since it only had been two hours or so after his patrol session with Adams. Andre was pretty much beat. The moment he entered the dorm, he immediately ended up in bed. It was just Dean and his own guts.

Of course, there was Myra as well, but her assistance was practically questionable at this moment. She was only a ghost as far as Dean considered. Still, if she had any advice, he would appreciate it.

'Running your own op, Dean?' Myra suddenly appeared in the exact same thread that Dean was wearing. She was also wearing the black parka alongside black cargo pants.

'Yeah, any advice before I commit a crime?' Dean asked Myra.

'Try not to get caught? I guess?' Myra gave Dean a piece of oblivious advice.

'Thank you for your advice, very useful,' Dean replied to Myra with a dissatisfied tone.

The target, no, the witness was located on the north side of Almara Island. Her name was Hannah Larsen, according to Orion's somehow sketchy log book. With a fast Google search, Dean was able to find her face online. He would be lying if he didn't say the woman was not beautiful. She looked like in her twenties.

The parked Tahoe on the parking lot really enticed Dean, but he didn't have the key. If that was the case, he needed to take the public transport aka the bus to get to the other side. Dean sighed, it looked like tonight would be a very long night. Dean pulled up on the bus in front of the dormitory and headed for Hannah's house.

Dean took a very far back seat on the bus and started drawing his plan. His plan was to gain access to the house first, either by using force or by using any other means. However, Dean was hoping that the other means was available.

The first plan was to climb the wall of the house and entered it through the back. It was a little bit risky, but it was easy. He then could pick the lock of the house and entered it. He then would have a little bit of 'conversation' with Hannah.

The other method was getting Hannah to let Dean enter her house. It was kinda possible since Hannah only went back home at 02:00 A.M. and go back to Mick's apartment at 12:00 P.M according to Orion. Dean would only need one hour or less to arrive at Almara Island's north side.

The night was cold, very cold, perhaps because winter was approaching and the fact that man-made island was located in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. Dean waited in front of Hannah's house with his gaiter covering half of his face.

Her house was located in a suburban area where one house was probably half a kilometer away from each other. The size of the house was quite average, not too big, but would only probably contain two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. He wondered when Hannah would arrive at her home.

The lights inside of the house were turned off, she was probably not at her home yet. Still, even for a piece of unreliable information, if Dean could get it, he would fight for it without any doubt.

The clock showed it was 01:45 A.M. Hannah should be here at any minute. Dean observed the area, there wasn't any CCTV in the area. It should make the job easier. And by the way, it looked like a car was heading in his direction.

Hannah seemed to be the driver of the car. She looked tired and it seemed that the only thing that she wanted was a sleep. Too bad though, Dean wouldn't let her sleep until she answered his question regarding his assassination. He walked towards the front gate as the woman walked towards the gate to open it.

It might be impolite, but Dean needed to be quick in approaching him, or plan B would be the only option. It was time for a little bit of trickery and oddity. Dean approached Hannah and politely asked.

"Mrs. Larsen?"

"Yes, and who are you, if I may ask?" Hannah asked.

"I'm one of Mick's friends, and I want to ask you some questions about Mick's whereabouts around three days ago," Dean asked Hannah.

"Not again," Hannah sighed, "But please, come in."

Well, that was easier than Dean expected. Dean entered the home while helping Hannah to open the gate of the house and close it once her car was inside of the house. Dean entered the house alongside the tired maid.

"So what? I'm kinda beat, you know," Hannah said as she sat down on the chair of her living room and poured a glass of alcohol into a shot glass in the middle of the table.

Dean politely sat down right across of her. "I just want your statement about the whereabouts of your master, ma'am." Dean quietly turned on the recorder on his phone, just for safety purpose.

"I have told what I need to tell and you can ask the police officer or the military police for it, I have nothing to say," Hannah said as she sipped on her alcohol.

"Ma'am, but an unknown source confirmed that Mick wasn't in his apartment at that time, what's your statement on that?" Dean further pressed the woman to spurt out the information to him.

"Again, people are spreading misinformation to discredit the young Mick. You, people, need to grow up, to be honest, and stop messing around with people's lives," Hannah sipped again on the alcohol.

Dean felt that his blood was boiling. This woman was straight lying right under his nose. "Ma'am, this unknown source is one of the witnesses that testified that Mick was outside that night, are you sure?"

"Again, and again, keep repeating that and I want you to leave my house," Hannah had enough of it, and so did Dean.

Dean knew it wouldn't be easy to get a statement from the woman. Mick must have been paid to keep her silence, or else, someone might have intimidated her for her silence. Well, there was only one thing left to do, and that was using shock value to the woman.

Dean pulled his pistol out of his pocket, "Alright, I don't want to play nice anymore, would you kindly tell me the truth?"
