Chapter 52

Silence filled the cave as the two looked at one another, both Ai and Wang were unsure of what to say. It was known that the only ones able to achieve the ability to become a Pill Master were Human Cultivators. Spirit Beasts had no ability to become one, nor anything else that normal Cultivators could awaken. It was unheard of.

With this fact clearly known between the two, they had no idea on what to do next. Ai himself felt lost as he sorted through the new information in his head. It seemed that the reason for Spirit Beasts to be unable to be Pill Masters or anything of the sort, was because they lacked the ability to awaken their aptitudes for it. Or rather, their makeup was one without such aptitudes.

In order to be a Pill Maker, you not only needed to have the ability to process both Fire and Wold Elements, but they had to have a special 'pearl' within their Spiritual Sea. Without this 'pearl' You would never be able to grow as a Pill Maker. Spirit Beasts had never had this 'pearl'.

It was the same for any cultivator interested in refining artifacts or creating arrays. They all needed the corresponding 'pearl' in the spiritual sea. Spirit beast didn't have this, it was long understood.

Ai was at a loss, what was this to mean about himself? Did this mean that he was unique in a way even his own kind was unaware of? There were no memories of his ancestors having this ability. Nor did they have any of the other 'pearls' to do anything similar in the professions other than cultivation.

Wang knew that this must be one of the 'Glitches' Due to Ai having been born in their world as a human, his soul was human. But now he was in the body of a spirit beast, so maybe it created this unique requirement that caused Ai to be different? He wasn't sure if this was good or bad. Though one thing was for sure, he surely couldn't expose this new found ability to others easily.

Not only would it upset the balance in this world, it would cause many other cultivators to want to possess this rare being that was different from any before. Cultivators aside, he wasn't even sure how other spirit beasts would react. They had always wanted to surpass the limits of their own creation, and now Ai was proof that it could happen, that the barrier that held them from transforming into something stronger than their current selves, had now appeared.

Biting his lip, Ai looked up at Wang with a pitiful expression. He was completely at a loss. His own instincts told him that this was illogical and couldn't happen, yet he was secretly delighted that he found a way to get stronger!

"We'll just take it slowly, okay?" Wang finally said. "Though...because of this I think we should change how you cultivate. It would no longer help you to do it the same as before. " Wang said, this seemed to help him come up with a reason to adjust Ai's cultivation method in order to correct it for the better. He just didn't know how it would change Ai's future in cultivation.

Ai nodded as he finally put the paper down. His mood was in a mess and he really didn't know what to do, so it was best to just follow Wang's plans and maybe everything would end up okay?

Ignoring the issues at hand, Ai went to busy himself with searching through the other scrolls. Wondering if there was another hidden treasure within them. Though they were just other things pertaining to being a Pill Master. As before, the information was absorbed into his own spiritual sea, integrating with his own self rather than remaining words. Thankfully it didn't disrupt the spiritual energy around them again.

Now the only matter left was for him to sort through the information he'd gathered, and begin his new path of following the manuals now integrated into him, in becoming a Pill Master. He did understand one thing, he needed to reach the stages of mortal Flesh and Qi Gathering before he could truly start his cultivation in being a Pill Master.
