The Seer

Brighver, Derunia mountains, Earth

***

Fog settled about a hectare of land in Derunia's Mountain. The fog was unnaturally present, only covering a small portion of the vast growth of rainforest. Crows frequently flew within the fog's reach as it gave enough shade to darken the place.

Tree trunks were high enough like sycamore and leaves were thick and the branches wide, that sunrays hardly penetrated its reach to the ground.

This place was always quiet and gloomy, only the sound of crickets and the sound of rustling leaves as the breeze danced in between the gaps of tree trunks stood out beyond the quietness. The fog was the witch's magic, an aura to provide obscurity.

It held the power to weaken normal human beings if they linger even for a few minutes. At the center of this thick fog was a large wooden house, its flooring elevated from the ground by large wooden foundations. It was like a large haunted cabin in the woods surrounded by some sort of mist that hazed the background.

The house held the Seer and was protected by a handful of demon goons, with submachine guns, and some warlocks and witches. The witches maintained the foggy environment just to fend off mountain trekkers.

One witch would mix rare leaves of different kinds and place them in a pot then heated with fire. As it created smoke, the cooked leaves were then placed in an incense container, a metal round container with holes and a metal string connected on top of it.

The leaves were placed inside and the smoke seeped out through the holes. The witches would walk around the territory carrying these incense containers while continuously murmuring ancient language, a spell that gave magic to the smoke and the smoke created the fog.

The Seer had given instructions to these witches to increase the frequency of this ritual from once in seven days, to almost every day. They were solidifying their defenses in preparation for Dreygo Mondus' arrival.

The Demon goons now doubled and heavily armed. They wore black modern clothing and they roam around the house strategically. Some of them were old, others were young, men or women. They were willing human vessels that were possessed by the Demons as they entered Earth together with Kragus.

The witches were normal human beings that practiced black magic. They leveraged their power from the Seer and nature. They were not typical witches that had flying sticks and wands.

The powers they possessed were mostly Telekinesis, voodoo dolls, and mind hallucinations and some of them achieved control over some Demon world elements; fire and ice.

Their magics could vary depending on the level the witch practiced. Sometimes, the older they were, the more power they had.

The Seer already anticipated Dreygo's attack, he had seen the visions but she was not sure of the exact time, but she knew that the Harbinger had already landed on Earth. The Seer sat on a wooden flooring at the center of the house and she was surrounded by four witches and warlocks dressed in black clothing that covered their whole bodies up to their shins, exposing only their faces, hands, and feet.

The Seer was an old lady, about early seventies-looking, but she was older, she wore dirty white clothing, also covered her whole body, with tribal tattoos on her arms. Her facial features were saggy and her hair was long, wavy, and disorganized and her scalp almost revealing.

She had been living on the face of the earth for decades, for one purpose only, to prepare for the coming of Kragus. She prepared Kragus with everything that he needs to know on how to attack humans, subtly.

She has foreseen significant events on earth, the weaknesses of humanity, and its destruction. This information provided Kragus an advantage to take over Earth and cripple the human race.

She had a basin with burning leaves in front of her and her eyes were closed. Her lips fluttered, whispered indistinctive chatter and her hands rest on her bended knees. She was praying to Kragus, inviting him to appear before them.

Her witches were also doing the same. Together, they made a strong bond with Kragus, whenever he may be situated, on earth or in some other dimension.

The chants grew louder and louder every minute passed, and now their whispers turned to audible words saying, "Veniet deus fructum infernos, veniet deus fructum infernos, veniet…." These words were spoken like they were singing in unison.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Veniet deus fructim infernos – come forth Hell God.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Suddenly, the atmosphere grew heavy, the air less humid, the temperature increased and an intimidating aura engulfed the room. The crows ceased from cawing, seemed to have flown away. 'Kragus was coming.' The Seer thought and the chants grew louder and louder until a large cracking sound appeared from nowhere.

In front of them, between their encircled space, a reddish light appeared in thin air as it seemed to break through from another portal. The space cracked and it grew wider and wider until smoke and red light crept out from that crack.

It was a portal and the Hell God walked out from it and it closed behind him like vacuum sucked into nothingness. The cracking sound vanished and the smoke dispersed from the air.

Kragus wore a black suit with slight blistered torn on its garments. It was the same outfit from the crashed Medeyin airlines. The chants ceased as Kragus revealed before their eyes. Then they all stood up from their position and the Seer greeted the Hell God, "My Lord, thank you for coming."

"Is it urgent?" Kragus asked calmly.

"Yes my Lord, I have sensed that Dreygo is coming for me. He was escorted by a prophetess." The Seer bowed her head, she can't dare to look at her god.

"His mortality is his curse. Coming here will be futile. He will be dead in no time."

"Probably my Lord. But an Angel helped him to regain his Demon powers as a harbinger. The angel gave him a weapon that could absorb other demon powers, that would make him stronger for each demon killed by that blade. They call it the Ferrum Minus. A purge blade, dagger in form."

"I know that weapon. It was smuggled from Heaven world. It seemed that Angel had violated the 5th degree of their Heavenly Laws." Kragus laughed. "Do not worry too much, Seer. My men will handle him."

"I don't think they can, my Lord. But they can surely slow him down. My witches are my best bet."

"Have you seen your death by the hands of Dreygo?" Kragus asked.

"No, my Lord." The Seer replied.

"Then, let him come. Tell him what he needs to know."

"Yes, my Lord." The Seer continued, "As per your request, I have seen a large oil rig near the shores of Meropas Sea. Thousands of families lived near that sea and depended on fish as their source of trade and food. Destruction of Meropas Sea would starve these people for weeks."

"That seemed to have little impact, don't you think. I think you have lost your touch Seer."

"No, my Lord. The one thing that give a tremendous impact is the destruction of the oil rig. It supplied 40% of the petroleum supply. It will surely give suffering to various parts of this world. Not to mention, the market shares of that oil company. It will trickle their stock markets." The seer chuckled.

Kragus gave a faint devilish laugh and said, "You never ceased to impress me, Seer."

"I am always at your service, my Lord." The Seer smiled then she asked. "What about Dreygo?"

"Kill him if you will have the chance, but if you can't, then tell him to go to Meropas Sea. We have a lot to discuss."

Kragus turned his back from the Seer and he gently swept his right hand to the air. The cracking sound appeared again and that light came forth again from the space. It opened and Kragus stepped inside. Smoke engulfed the area and he vanished into thin air. The atmosphere went back to normal and the temperature decreased and cooled the area.

The witches suddenly gasped for air. It seemed that their physical strengths cannot almost fathom the intimidating aura that overwhelmed the environment as Kragus entered the scene.

The vintage corolla swerved through traffic even though the road was narrow. Elaine seemed excited to have driven fast and made Dreygo buckled his seatbelt. But he was smiling, enjoying the ride. Her gear shifts were flawless and her driving skills were topnotch even had the disadvantage to have driven a vintage.

The Derunia city residential establishments and some public structures gradually diminished as they drove past the City's reach towards the mountain of Derunia. They headed to a narrow road outside the highway and towards a vast tree line.

The vintage corolla rattled as it drove against the rocky road. The sun was still high, it was mid-afternoon. As they entered the treeline, the area grew darker and minimal sunrays weaved through the heavy forestation. They decelerated and stopped until there were no more roads for their vehicle.

They disembarked the corolla and Elain asked, "Are you ready Dreygo?"

Dreygo answered, "I am not sure. This place gives me the creeps."
