Beginning of Wrath

South road, Tengzu, Cheena, Earth

"Get to the car. Fast!" Dreygo screamed at both Elaine and Officer Sho.

They saw Dreygo's eyes widen in fear. Dreygo had known about this kind of demon, they forced themselves to take over hosts and turned into mindless monsters in the process.

Kragus may have orchestrated these possessions to create a larger army. Summoning these demons would give a heavy toll to the Hell God, considering the portal restrictions, a particular spell should be used.

But these were different than the demons. Monster as they were, they growled with hunger, salivated at the first sight of their prey, and had no full control of their souls. They were designed to wreak havoc in whatever place they are deployed.

The undead demons started to sprint toward them like a pack of wolves.

"Don't look back!" Dreygo shouted to them as they were nearing their vehicle.

Dreygo was behind them and the demons ran faster. One caught Dreygo's back, a deep scratch had torn his shirt. Without hesitation, the Harbinger turned his back and buried his weapon in the demon's chest. The undead demon squealed sharply before the ether escaped its host.

Their claws were razor-sharp, and shredded Dreygo's back. He felt the sting lurking under the wounded parts. Three undead demons caught up to him and the purge blade, light and fast, delivered to their instant deaths.

The Harbinger felt different as the ethers simultaneously swam to his body. The raging energy was searing to an increased rate. He recalled the number of absorbed demons.

A thousand souls still far.

The two hurried inside the car and Dreygo followed suit. A large thump depressed the roof as the demons jumped on their vehicle.

Officer Sho, in the driver seat, was agitated as he turned the ignition. As the car engine hummed, he immediately pressed the acceleration pedal hard causing the car to jolt to acceleration.

The undead demons on top of the roof kept on pounding their fists and one even managed to create a crack on their windshield. The car swerved snappishly and other demons fell off and rolled to the ground. With any hint of pain, they get back up quickly and continued their pursuit.

Elaine was breathing fast. Her hands had obvious jitters.

"Grenades!" Officer Sho screamed.

The car was swerving left to right, hardly on a straight path. The rocky road contributed to the difficulty. Dreygo, in the back seat, took out three hand grenades and throw them through the window toward the pursuing demons.

For three seconds, the grenades blew. Shreds of human flesh flew everywhere, blood splats on their rear window. It somehow managed to discourage the undead demons.

"Stop the car!" Dreygo said.

Sho halted into a full stop but kept the engine running.

"It seemed nobody was following us any longer," The harbinger assessed while peeking at the rear window of their car.

The grenades decimated their numbers. The harbinger was not sure if the grenades managed to kill all. But he doubted it.

As the debris and the swarm of dust settled, faint growls grew again. Faint thuds of footfalls were increasing and nearing. Six or seven demons undead sprinted towards them. Dreygo went out of the car with his purge blade.

"Dreygo!" He heard Elaine calling his name.

"I must kill them and absorb their ethers," Dreygo responded.

He measured that he could take on a handful of these demons. They were mindless demons, after all. Their choice of attack was only head-on with their claws and bites. They do not evade with no strategy at all.

Dreygo had to relive his Death harbinger abilities to kill. In Hell, demons simply ran off away from him from being slaughtered. This time was different. They were the ones attacking. They could smell weakness and fear not the harbinger but the two human beings.

Dreygo lunged forward at the mob without hesitation. His speed increased and added with the dark environment concealed his movements.

Dreygo managed to catch one Demon to its neck. Grasped it hard and its tongue flew out as his windpipe was crushed. Dreygo avoided the demon's claws and buried his Ferrum minus to its gut. Then he veered to his right and rolled to evade the second demon's attack.

He swung his weapon and lacerated the neck right after he hauled himself from his back. The attack almost decapitated the head and a shower of blood sprayed the ground. The third demon was jumping towards him. With quick evasion, the harbinger delivered his blade to the demon's nape.

Side by side, the fourth and fifth demons darted toward him wildly. He delivered a frontal kick to the one attacking at the right, and with a swift turn, he delivered a straight stab to the demon's neck. His motions were fluid almost at the same time.

The knocked-down demon regained his stance and caught Dreygo's back right before he sidestepped for supposedly an evasion. Its sharp claws scratched deep into the Harbinger's thighs. But adrenalin masked the pain. Dreygo managed to slip from the demon's grasp his blade lodged into the Demon's forehead.

The skirmish and the harbinger's winning streak continued. Demon ethers flowed into his body like a flood of black water as his attacks and stabs never ceased. Ten undead demons were killed in instant with only five heartbeats.

Another twenty right after with an increased speed and strength. The harbinger could feel his punches and kicks were more devasting than the previous one as ethers continued to flow out from their hosts and into his.

His hunger for a kill was gratified with every flesh and gut his blade lodged in. It was a blood bath. His mind flashed in the hopeless face of the dead humanoid demons during his daily hunt. The never-ending cries and screams at the first sight of the Harbinger had fueled his purpose as a Death Harbinger.

It was an advantage though, his experience as a warrior, and the practice of killing demons had been useful so far, especially to the fifty undead demons that mobbed him.

Lights from their mouths and eyes flickered simultaneously like Christmas lights.

Other few undead demons, about the remaining ten, attacked the car.

"Elaine!" The Harbinger cursed. He heard gunshots that came from inside.

He jumped, higher this time, and landed near the ten mobbing demons surrounding the car. Two even broke the car windows. Luckily, the harbinger's blade was hungry for a kill, as all drove to an instant kill. Neck, chest, nape, forehead, and one was in the mouth. Nobody was hurt and the silence of the rural environment invaded again.

The growls had ceased and so was the undead demons. The ones who survived, with their limbs separated from the blast, had crawled in random directions. Dreygo had killed them one by one mercilessly. He smiled until the last ether shrieked forcibly entering his body.

"You are tricked, Officer!" Dreygo screamed at him as he pointed a finger. "You put Elaine in danger!"

The officer did not answer back.

"You almost cost our lives!" Dreygo continued with his rant.

"I am sorry, ok!" The Officer pleaded, "I did not know. He told me about a hundred slaves being shipped here but…" He ceased talking.

"Knock it off, Dreygo!" Elaine interjected. "It's not his fault. It only means that the Triad is looking for ways to find us."

"We are not safe here," Dreygo said. "The Triad could be near."

"What are those, Dreygo? They are different from before." Elaine asked. Dreygo entered the car.

"Undead Demons," Dreygo replied, "they do not care about anything. They are tasked to kill and create chaos, no strategies, no remorse, only to kill."

"Do you think there are others?" Elaine asked.

"Yes, I know there are others. This could only mean that another Demon Lord is here on earth. The Demon Lord of Wrath," Dreygo said.

"He can summon these kinds of demons, this is his specialty. Now three known demon Lords walked amongst Earth. The closest so far could be Belrag – Demon Lord of Envy, the leader of Zi Lok Triad, and the Demon Lord of Lust. Kragus do not like to travel far without her whore."

"Then, what are we going to do next?" Sho asked.

"We are going to find Viriel. Let him know that another Demon Lord had crossed the portal. This could pose a great threat to the people in this country. We must act fast!"
