Nightmare

On the left side of a classroom, a boy of about 11 years old could be seen looking out of the window. Water drops were streaming down the window as he gazed at the distant landscape.

Thick gray clouds, buildings, small houses, and a huge mountain formed the view. As he was looking, he drifted away into his thoughts...

He had just turned 9 when he entered his new school. Like most kids his age, he was thinking about what powers he could develop when he turned 15. He was excited to meet his new classmates, imagining himself hunting beasts with his friends and having adventures together. He was an innocent and naive boy.

As if it were a curse of life, everything started out fine when he arrived at his new classroom, but he doesn't know when everything changed. He was a boy of weak constitution, nothing made him stand out, but apparently, this characteristic made them not take him seriously.

"Brandon, why did you hit your classmate?" The teacher in the classroom asked.

"But he hit me first, teacher," Brandon replied with teary eyes as he spoke.

"That's a lie teacher, you can ask Tomas, I didn't hit him." Sam, the boy whom Brandon had just hit, retorted.

"That's true teacher, Sam didn't do anything," Tony defended Sam.

"But I didn't..." before he could finish speaking, the teacher took Brandon to a corner of the classroom and left him standing there for the whole class as punishment.

Tears were streaming down his face. He wondered why this was happening. He never did anything to them, yet they took him as if he was not worth the same as them and despised him.

"Give back the money you took," said James, another classmate of Brandon's. He was muscular and seemed to be quite strong.

"But I won the money. We bet, and I won it fairly," grabbing the money he had won from Amanda. He had made a bet with the girl, but after losing, she wanted Brandon to return the money, so she went to seek James's help.

A strong blow hit him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, and the money he had dropped from his hand. James punched Brandon in the face, making him stumble and fall backward.

All he could do was cry. He was weak and fearful, believing in heroes, so he always thought that these people would one day get what they deserve, but he was also gradually getting tired of what was happening.

"Brandon, pass me the ball!" James shouted. It had been 3 months since the incident, but he still held his head high.

"But I'm closer, I can do it," he continued running forward, passing the opponents of the team, but suddenly a strong blow made him fall to the ground and lose the ball.

"If I tell you to pass me the ball, you pass it to me," James had tackled him.

Looking out of the window lost in his thoughts, Brandon heard a noise in the classroom that snapped him out of his daze.

"Crack - Crash"

A window in the classroom was broken due to the dispute between two classmates. One had thrown a chair to hit the other person.

The other boy crouched down, allowing the chair to continue its path toward the windowpane.

About 5 minutes later, the counselor arrived in the classroom with some teachers. "Who did it?" was the only question she asked as she looked at everyone inside the classroom.

Silence...

"It was Brandon!" shouted a classmate.

"Yes, it was Brandon."

"Exactly, Brandon did it."

...

The two people who were previously fighting also joined the others in accusing Brandon. From the "most innocent" person to the most despicable person in the room pointed at Brandon.

"Brandon, follow me to the principal's office." The counselor went over to him and took him by the forearm.

"I didn't do it!" Filled with impotence, Brandon shouted with all his might.

"Then who did?" The counselor was waiting for his answer.

Brandon wasn't the type of person to accuse others, but since the same culprits had pointed at him, he had no reason to cover for them.

"It was James and Adams." He pointed to where they were almost tearfully.

"That's a lie, they didn't do anything..." Everyone started protecting the real culprits.

"Everyone says it was you, so why are you saying otherwise?"

"I didn't do it..." Before continuing to speak, Brandon started crying. He felt helpless, he felt finished.

"What had he done to deserve this?" He was just a kid who wanted to have friends, to have a life like anyone else, but it didn't happen.

"Let's go, we will contact your parents and you will be banned from coming to school for 3 days." Following the counselor, Brandon could see the smile of those people as he left.

Even the teacher who was in the classroom at that time didn't do anything, she just looked down with her head bowed.

As he was going home, his mother didn't say anything, she just looked at him and sighed. Upon arriving home, Brandon got out of the car and went straight to his room without coming out for the next 3 days.

He only came out to eat and take a shower and then locked himself back in. Brandon had never told his mother about his situation, he didn't want to worry her.

It was time to go back to school. Brandon went down the stairs and left his house without even saying goodbye. He was on his way to school, but today he didn't take the bus, he simply decided to walk.

There was a slightly different look in Brandon, he no longer looked so innocent, rather he looked finished, but determination could also be seen.

He cried the first day without rest. On the second day, he began to reflect, questioning his beliefs and saying for the first time that he believed in himself.

"There are no heroes, there are no gods that will come to save me, there is only me."

He arrived at school and, under the gaze of everyone, he went to the reception to request several forms. His mood could be seen as subdued but also resolute.

He decided to enroll in summer courses and learn different areas. He no longer hung out or spoke to his classmates. Although they didn't seek problems with him anymore since cameras were installed in the different classrooms after the last incident.

As the years went by, he learned many things, archery, martial arts, sword use, spears, firearms, beast investigation, combat psychology, among other areas.

He had changed, now he was a bit cold but also playful. Although he didn't know it, he unconsciously began to use this personality to mask his suffering. He was indifferent and didn't make friends, but his world overflowed again when he couldn't awaken an ability at the age of 15 or 16.

As he ran through the streets, drops of water began to fall and soak him.

However, this didn't make him stop, he kept running even though he was drenched in water. When he reached a point on the mountain, he could only scream at the sky while crying with so much anger that he passed out from depression.

...

Brandon opened his tearful eyes. He was back at the military school.

"Damn nightmare. Still, I thought I was going to die. After all, they say that your life flashes before your eyes when you're about to die."
