Chapter 66

"Next, Silas come forward," Lumian called him forward excitedly.

On the other hand, Silas threw hesitant glance at Kaden who's was standing in the corner and stepped forward. He picked the heavy iron sword from the ground and stood in attack position. But his eyes still remained in the corner where the pink haired warrior stood.

His crush was standing just three feet away and he wanted to impress him. But.....he did not even have a mount and was not talented in sword art as well. 'i am going to embarrass myself in front of him,' he though with a pout.

"You see that," Lumina pointed to a huge world tree far away from the huge black slab.

Silas nodded. This tree was peculiar because unlike the world trees around them, it was curved and slanting, Just like their training tree used to look.

"i want you to hit the birds nest," Lumian said.

Silas frowned deeply. How could he expect him to hit something so far with a sword. It was not possible. He said these words in his heart but externally he shuffled his feet and hesitantly watched his master for some clues.

Lumian too gazed at him without blinking. "Well go on then,"

"Master.....i—i cant hit things that far with a sword," Silas mumbled, Dropping his head.

"Who said anything about a sword," his master whispered with a sceptical glance. He motioned to a curved broken branch in front of him. "Use this instead,"

Silas was even more confused. "How....could a branch hit that far? Am i supposed to toss it?"

"Figure it out," Lumian calmly said and sat on the hose front stairs. He calmly glanced at the tree students in front of him without any movement.

Silas was put in the spotlight. He kept throwing pleading glanced at Eru and pitiful glances at his mater. In hopes that he would help at least tell him what to do.

Eru standing in the corner also frowned. 'How do you hit something that far? If he tosses it, it should probably reach only half way, yet it won't reach that height,' he too lanced at his master hoping for the answer to the puzzle.

Lumian raised his eyes brows and smirked. "Fine, use this and that stick," he tossed a small dagger to Silas.

Silas picked it up and tried tying it to the end of the stick but the stick was too curved and it won't gather enough momentum if thrown. 'What else..... should i do with it,'

Along the side-lines, Eru was even more puzzled. 'Stick and a dagger. Should he make a slingshot? No but master did not provide any stretchable material....then what?' suddenly some other tool crossed his mind. "a boomerang!" he exclaimed.

"Wonderful!" Lumian shouted and stood up. He walked over to Silas and told him to carve a boomerang.

Silas cheerfully nodded and carved one. With adept hands he was able to carve the most exquisite looking boomerang that was curved like a half moon. He held one end of it with his finger tip to check the balance. When it comes to carving a boomerang, it should have a perfect sense of balance o r else it might not return to the thrower.

After making the final adjustments, he glanced at kaden with a proud look and tossed it over to the tree.

The boomerang swished through the air but it did not reach its target. It went close to the tree and returned back to silas's outstretched hands. His face flushed in embarrassment. Again, he launched it into the sky, this time he put all of his body's momentum into his hands and tossed it.

The boomerang swirled and hit the tree. But after doing so it dropped down never to return to his hands.

Silas dropped his head. "i am sorry master i failed." He whispered as tears filled his eyes.

Lumian slowly walked up to him and patted his shoulders. "You hit the target why are upset about huh?"

"But the boomerang did not return....."

"i told you to hit the target and you did. That's all i asked for," Lumian shrugged. He then walked around and picked up the dagger that was tossed on the ground. "Silas, i heard you were very adept in using a bow and arrow, but do you what its weakness is?"

"its a long range weapon. In short range i would be in a huge disadvantage," Silas said with his body rigid.

Lumian glanced at him with appreciation and continued, "yes, so i wanted to train in you in a weapon that you can use short range and long range. Boomerang. If its curves are sharpened, it can act as a curved sword and it can also be tossed far to slice targets in the distance,"

Everyone listened to this with an astonished expression, but yet Eru was not convinced by this theory. "If it's to be sharpened then it should be made of metal. But how can a metal fly so weightlessly though?" he whispered with his hands on his chin.

Lumian walked up to him and glanced down at him. "Is iron the only thing that can be sharpened?"
