Chapter 21

I paused at his words, my voice skeptical, "I'm sorry, what do you mean by the embodiment of death?"

Aydin studied my face, a look of surprise crossing his features. "I thought you knew. The man you met is Death. He takes the form of others when he walks the earth. I was one of many dalliances he allowed himself while he was here. That's how I ended up here as a caretaker of the dead. It helps me feel close to the only being who ever truly understood me. Isn't he amazing?"

Okay, this guy is a little cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Death in human form? The alien theory is more likely; it seems more plausible than this nonsense.

"So, what you're telling me is that you met Death in the flesh,, he appeared as different people each time, he seduced you, and now you're a cemetery caregiver so you can feel close to him?" I questioned, glancing at the graveyard ahead.
