BEING KIND

------------------~[ROSE'S POV]~---------------------

The warmth of the early morning sun scorches against my skin and I slowly open my eyes. I sigh deeply and roll over the bed staring at the ceiling. This previous night has been the worst night ever for me. I had spent nearly the entire night weeping at my plight in life. Handsome and heavenly Christian really did a great job of reminding me that.

Speaking of Christian. He's the second reason I didn't really have a good sleep. I found it really really hard to take the magnificent fellow off my mind. Thoughts of his beautiful face and assuring eyes had me formulating another sort of fantasy in my head about him almost through the night. I found it hard to sleep till 4am in the morning when I couldn't hold it any longer.

I sigh and stretch my neck. Well. It's a new day. And Christian is definitely out of my life. I have to focus on the future and what will be waiting for me by the time I get to physics class this morning. The thought of that had me groaning. I try to force myself not to ask why I had to be born by such overbearing parents. It feels...well... I guess it's better to brush the thought aside. I don't want another round of early morning weeping.

I blow out a deep breath and look around me. I pick up my phone to see about thirty missed calls from Brittany. What the……. How the…….

Is she under an emergency? I immediately dial her number and she picks up Immediately.

“Hello Rose. Are you okay? Where the hell are you? Did you get to your hostel safely?“

I can't help but to chuckle. There she goes acting like my mom again. “I'm good, Brittany. Why worry?"

She sighs. " I was looking for you everywhere at the club yesterday. I was so terrified when I didn't see you “

I slap my palm against my face. That's right. Christian had me in a tulmolt I totally forgot my best friend.

I bite my lip. “I'm Sorry I left you like that Britt."

" Why? You sound like something happened. Did anything happen?“

I chuckle to myself. There is no way in hell I will tell her I had a one on one conversation with Christian Jake. She's so gonna go nuts.

I smile. “Nothing happened Britt. I was just tired.“

She sighs. " You sure?“

I nod as though she can see me through the phone. “I'm good. I promise you."

She sighs. “Alright. Don't forget the deal. I must not get to physics class before you.“ She says and ends the call. I chuckle. We both have a routine of racing to the class. Anyone who fails will buy the other's lunch.

Well. I have enough money to do that. But it just feels fun having to rush every morning to class just to beat my best friend to it.

I sigh and drop my phone rushing to the shower to get prepared.

Minutes later, I find myself walking briskly through the stonewalk that leads to the enormous building where my class is located. My books aren't at all arranged properly in my arms so I struggle with them as I speed along. The sun feels a bit hotter than normal today. I am glad I didn't put on much makeup. If not, I would have to deal with it because I sweat a lot. I mean, excessively.

Getting a few steps to the building, someone suddenly calls my name sharply and that took me off balance because I wasn't really focusing. I jerk and all my books fall to the floor. Shit.

“Oops. I'm so sorry. It's my fault." The fellow says and bends to help. I look up to see Mike and sigh.

“It's fine. It's nothing. It's my fault. I wasn't focusing.“

He chuckles and drops the remaining of my books in my arms. I smile.

“Thanks."

He chuckles. “That's a lot of books to carry for a class. Mind if I help you?“

I swallow. Hell no. What would Brittany think if she saw me walking up to our class side by side with her boyfriend? Isshh. I can't bear to think about it. “No. Never mind. I'm good. Don't bother." I say. Aside that, Brittany might probably be at the door right now ready to taunt me about being a latecomer.

He examines me. " You sure?“

I nod briskly. " Yeah. I'm sure. I uhhh…….I have to go. See you some other time."

“Hey wait….." He stop me and I snort.

“What?“

He smiles. " I'm sorry. I wanted to give you this." He said and hands me a bottle of tropical fruit smoothie. I glance at it and look up at him. What the hell is he up to? The tropical fruit smoothie is actually my favorite drink and well, he obviously knows that because we've dated before. But why is he giving this to me now?

I smile and beam at him. “Thanks for the unexpected morning gift but, I'm sorry. I'm late for class.“ I say and turned to go. He holds my hand.

I look at him. What the hell is up with him? “Mike, will you let me go?"

He immediately let's go of me. " I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I just……" He rubs his hair backwards as if frustrated. I squint my eyes at him trying to read him.

“What's up with you, Mike?" I ask. " Is anything the problem?“

He sighs and rubs his face. “Nothing. I'm good." He says with a smile. “I completely understand why you can't take this and it's fine. I just felt the need to be…….you know……. kind?“

I lift an eyebrow staring at him. “Kind? To me?"

He chuckles and scratches his head, obviously nervous. " You know what? Forget it. I have to head to class. I'll see you some other time.“ He says and walks away.

I watch him leave and chuckle softly to myself. What is up with him this morning? I shake my head and turn to my class. Brittany might as well be there waiting to taunt me. I know she will definitely be there before me.

Oh shit..

All thanks to her confused boyfriend who decided to take the toll on me this morning. I hurry to class and get to the door to see that she isn't there. What the..

The door is open anyway meaning someone is there. I walk in to see Brittany seated at the far end of the class at our usual spot scribbling absentmindedly into a notebook. And she didn't really look pleased.

“Britt." I call her and she looks up at me with a forlorn look. I frown.....

What the hell happened?
