Dinosaur Attack

The phone in the makeshift command post jangled. Commissioner Gordon's heart clenched. He pushed the table away and stood up, his boots clattering across the floor as he reached for the receiver. "Gordon here."

A sense of dread settled over him, and it only grew as he listened. "What?! You're launching an all out assault? Are you insane?" Sweat beaded on Gordon's brow. "Sending twenty thousand men into that chaos is a death sentence! It's pointless!"

He slammed his fist on the table. "Mayor Hill and I made a decision. Whose orders are you following?"

"Apologies, Commissioner. These are the orders I received." The voice on the other end was polite but firm. "And, Commissioner, you've been relieved of duty. The troops are mobilizing now, sir."

"Damn it! I'm going to see Hill! Did the Joker get into his head? I won't allow this idiotic slaughter." The door burst open, two armed soldiers barging in, assault rifles slung over their shoulders. Their sudden appearance put everyone on edge, hands hovering near holstered weapons. The voice in Gordon's ear continued, "...and I apologize, Commissioner, but to prevent any rash actions, we must..."

The soldiers cut him off, "...we must escort you to a holding cell. Sorry, Commissioner. Please." Gordon removed his glasses, his face lined with age and stress. The muscle that had filled out his uniform in his younger days had given way to the weariness of time. "Don't stop me." Gordon leveled a hard stare at the soldiers. "Hill told me..."

"This is Mayor Hill's order," one soldier interrupted, his tone firm but polite. "And the mayor has given orders not to see you. We're just following orders, sir." They unslung their rifles, holding them at the ready. Gordon took a deep breath.

"Keep an eye on Bane's men," he ordered his officers. As Gordon followed the soldiers out of the command post, he saw the grim scene unfolding in the fading sunlight. Soldiers marched under the orders of their superiors, tanks and APCs rumbled, a seemingly endless wave of troops preparing to advance down the long streets.

"That's right, no matter how strong he is, he's just one man!"

"1! 2! 3!"

"Capture Bane alive!"

"Third column, move out!"

"Don't worry, men! We're a legion. With so many of us, even if we spit at him, we can drown Bane!" Gordon had second thoughts. Mayor Hill's decision was clearly irrational. If he hadn't urged Batman to avoid the National Guard earlier, if Batman were here now...

He looked at the endless tide of soldiers with worry. Could they really defeat Bane? "We have tanks," a nearby soldier said, sensing his worry. "Twenty thousand men, countless APCs, and twenty tanks. I hear this Bane guy's a metahuman, right?"

"How many divisions can one meta beat?" another soldier chimed in. "If two thousand couldn't take him down, what makes you think twenty thousand can?"

What could Gordon say? He sighed again. "I hope so."

......

"Batman, are you going to make a move?" Robin gulped. In the distance, Ms. October was ensnared by vines, her samurai swords useless against the aerial assault. She was yanked into the sky with a shriek. Dogwelder charged, clutching a dead dog he'd seemingly produced from thin air. The next moment, he was swatted away by a giant plant fist. He rolled dozens of times on the ground, his limbs twisted, but the next second he got up as if nothing had happened and continued to rush up.

Robin whispered to Adam, "Don't think I don't know, um..." He'd been about to say "Don't think I don't know you can turn into a dinosaur and a car now," but then he remembered this wasn't the Bruce Wayne he knew, the master strategist, but a completely different personality.

So he changed the subject. "Planning on doing this yourself?" Across the battlefield, the plant master took another bite of the swamp monster's tuber. Countless trees and herbs were frantically gathering around his body and then becoming part of his body. His body, which was originally nearly two meters long, was gradually expanding and becoming more and more inhuman.

Adam thought for a split second, then replied firmly, "I dislike fighting."

"Help me, Batman!!! I'm gonna die if you don't help me!!! I'll haunt you from hell!!!" Cat, aided by Count Vertigo and Deadshot, was struggling against Plant master. Seeing Batman and Robin standing idly by, chatting, adjusting their ears, and occasionally laughing like school children on a field trip, she'd had enough.

"I'm on strike!" she yelled. "I'm a cat, not a pack mule! If you don't help me, I'll lead this overgrown freak straight to you!"

Finally, October severed the vines entangling her legs. She collapsed, panting, no longer the picture of aristocratic composure. "Yeah!" she agreed vehemently. "We need help!"

She stabbed her sword into the ground, leaning against a tree for support, gasping. "I'm done. I

feel dizzy. I hate roller coasters! Ugh, I think I'm going to—"

She promptly threw up at the base of the tree, shattering any illusions about the elegance of beautiful women.

Wait. Tree?

As Ms. october was hoisted into the air again, Adam sighed and stepped forward. His presence was so commanding, his demeanor so calm, that Plant master couldn't ignore him. He paused, leaving cat to pant in relief, and focused on the man before him.

"Must I do everything myself?" Adam sighed. He took a step! Instantly, silvery particles swirled around him, his body growing in size.

Another step!

Sharp claws and teeth replaced his hands and feet, the silver particles receding to form golden gauntlets.

The third step!

A massive green dinosaur, clad in a bat-suit, stood where Adam had been, roaring at the sky! This transformation, reminiscent of a Power Ranger morph, stunned Plant master into inaction.

"The Red?"
