From the beautiful scenery of the Nebula in the Andromeda Galaxy to the thick smoke of the millennia-long war in Centaurus, from the glorious years of Asgard's conquest of the cosmos to the diminishing wars of the Nine Major Kingdoms.
Though Sif had not witnessed the times when Odin commanded the gods and won a territory for Asgard, she had accompanied Asgard's mighty fleet, passing every corner of the cosmos and witnessing countless splendid civilizations.
As part of a race that could easily live for thousands of years, their knowledge and experience are beyond compare to those short-lived species that only live for several decades. In the past, Sif could proudly say that she had seen all sorts of grand scenarios.
But she had never seen a situation like today.
She knew well that humans were adept at creating bombs, this civilization's mind filled with bombs, more bombs, and even bigger bombs.
They even built their industrial base on bombs and kept excelling in creating ever bigger bombs. They successfully built super bombs that could annihilate their own race dozens of times.
But the current situation still surprised Sif. She never expected that humans would not only create super bombs that could destroy their current selves dozens of times over but also create bombs that could obliterate their future selves thousands of times over.
Sif could understand that in the early stage of space civilization, incapable of dealing with excess space debris, they would have to throw them away in the distance and deal with them when they had the means. Asgard started the same way.
Their ships weren't always this powerful. The first type of battleships, not only were they less powerful, they were even more troublesome to construct. The Dwarf Race wasted countless materials every day, some of which could be recycled in the giant furnace. If there was really no way, they could only dispose of them in a deserted area.
In the beginning, Asgardians thought, since the cosmos is so vast, what harm would a pile of garbage do? Even if I build a spaceship, how could it collide with debris?
But the reality proved that once spaceship technology matured, and the obstacles to faster-than-light travel were gone, you would find that the cosmos was not that vast. It could even be considered very crowded. A tiny mistake in flight planning could easily result in a collision with celestial bodies.
It wasn't much of a problem for Asgardians to encounter a space traffic accident. After all, they would choose close-quarters combat in interstellar warfare, directly grappling onto the opponent's spaceship shield, charging against the cannon's firepower.
The initial space debris also caused quite a bother to their fleet. Sif heard from her uncle that most of the initial fleet's traffic accidents were due to the early diaspora of space debris by Asgard.
But in fact, the loss of personnel wasn't heavy. Even if there was an accident, at most, they'd need to stay home for a few days.
Humans are different, with their fragile small bodies. Never mind this dense space debris, the early spaceships could even be fatally damaged by a small piece of meteor.
Once their spaceship is destroyed, they are not like Asgardians who could rely on their physical fitness, endure with injuries, and still manage to fly hundreds of light-years home.
Sif stood there, shocked for a long moment, then she yelled, "Humans!!!!!! Have you gone mad?!!!!!!"
"Quick, quickly connect me to S.H.I.E.L.D..." Sif began to breathe in and out wildly, her chest heaving, clearly very angry.
The crew immediately comforted her, "Lady Sif, calm down, don't get angry. We are not unfamiliar with human madness, I'll call their official organization now..."
The crew member took out a communicator to make a call. After trying for a while, he also said angrily, "What's the matter? Why is no one answering any of the numbers in my contact list? Where have they all gone?"
"Call The Sanctum!!!" Sif yelled angrily: "When they were calling us with their sales pitches, they were very diligent! Are we not able to find them now when we need them?!"
The crew member picked up the communicator again. After a while, he spoke into it, "Hello? Is this the Supreme Magician? We're members of the Asgardian patrol fleet, working with Lady Sif to maintain security in the Nine Major Kingdoms. Oh, and the cleanliness of Nine Major Kingdoms..."
"We have discovered too much space debris in the Solar System. What on earth is going on?... A sudden surge in space technology? But you shouldn't... Oh, Lady Sif, Lady Sif!"
Sif grabbed the phone and spoke into it, "Strange! Have you all gone suicidal?! You've launched so much garbage into space, have you ever considered how you would later plan flight paths???"
"...Yes, I understand. When space technology is on the rise, production is most important. In a sense, developing space flight technology is like the Exhaustion Method, as long as you throw enough out there, you'll eventually find the right answer. But you should also think about the future…"
"What? If you don't get to Mercury this year, there's no future?? What is the rush? Your lifespan may be short, but it wouldn't matter if you don't get to Mercury in a year, would it???"
"So, what are you planning to do? The degree of the space debris is so severe, that I am afraid it might affect the revolution trajectory of your neighboring planets, and yet you all think it's Ok?? You group of madmen!"
Hearing what they have to say on the other end, Sif sighed and said, "Alright, I understand your situation. You got a late start, facing numerous problems. The conditions on Earth are unique; plenty of beings must be watching this place, so you must accelerate your progress…"
Sif pinched her brow and continued, "I'm currently in the Solar System. I have two escort ships here, and we can send over an additional three. We could assist in cleaning up, but you should know, you can't keep doing this..."
"Forget it, even if I told His Majesty the God King, he would probably think the same, after all, aren't you the citizens of the Nine Major Kingdoms?... Yes, he values your potential... Alright, let's not discuss about human feelings or anything of that sort, we Asgardians are not as sentimental as you humans..."
"By the way, to prevent damaging any of your important equipment while we're cleaning up the debris, it would be best for you to evacuate all your devices. What? They have all descended to the planet's surface? All the ones floating in the air are to be discarded?... Okay, I got it, goodbye."
After hanging up the phone, Sif turned to the captain of the escort ship and ordered, "Bring in three more escort ships, let's clean this place up together."
With a helpless shake of her head, she said, "When humans have technological breakthroughs, they just focus on launching their devices into space. By the time they realize there's too much debris, it's already late. It's probably they are waiting for us to clean up their mess."
"Who can blame them? They are the most promising race among the Nine Major Kingdoms. Come on, destroy all the floating debris in the sky, but be careful not to hit any equipment on the planet's surface."
On board the S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Sky Carrier, Nick Fury watched the brilliant display in space through his special telescope.
He watched the escort ships perform agile turns as they aimed their cannons and fired dazzling lasers. A large ball of space debris shattered upon impact, disappearing within the light."
Nick clicked his tongue and remarked, "Say what you will, but Asgard's weapons are indeed handy. Are you sure you don't want to go into the arms business?"
Loki, sitting on the couch, swirling his wine glass, replied, "Even if we gave you Asgard's weapons, you wouldn't be able to use them. It's all about the energy source."
"Can't the Ark Reactor's function be useful?" Nick asked while observing.
Loki sighed and said, "Although I'm not too familiar with this matter, simply having one or two parts that are technologically advanced isn't useful when it comes to manufacturing ships."
"For instance, battleships are designed for warfare. If you were to use the energy from the Ark Reactor and transfer it to Asgard's cannon, firstly, you would need to have sufficient measures to protect the Ark Reactor. You can't expect your cannons to have perfect accuracy and eliminate every enemy who wants to destroy your energy source. What would you do in case of an error?"
"Secondly, you need the technological ability to conceal the energy transfer channels to prevent them from being detected by enemy scanning devices. Otherwise, if your 'wires' get cut by the enemy, your battleship would be a total waste."
"At the same time, your ship needs to be agile, as no one would make themselves an easy target for you during interstellar warfare. Even in civilizations using chemically fuelled spacecraft, it's crucial to outmaneuver your opponent."
"Lastly, you need compatible scanning and surveillance technology. Sometimes, the main ship's scanning capabilities are not broad enough, necessitating a companion reconnaissance ship, which then needs a reconnaissance robot, with the robot needing an anti-trap device..."
Nick held his head and said, "Enough, you're giving me a headache."
Loki shrugged and added, "Actually, for humans, it's already been simplified. One could even say that you've been overly lucky."
"Your homeworld is extremely habitable, requiring almost no resources to transform, at most maintaining the stability of the Earth's core to extend its life span, and that would only be necessary billions of years from now."
"The speed of rotation and revolution is suitable, building a planet's shield could be done with ease, your solar system is abundant with all sorts of resources, and the distances between them are quite near, with the sun as the natural energy source."
"Even crazier, you have produced the Iron Demon God. On the path to universal technological advancement, you have the Iron Demon God for high-end technology and the Supreme Magician for masterful magic. With Asgard's external protection, and internal stimulation from the Iron Curtain, no other civilization would dare dream like this."
Loki stood up, patted Nick's shoulder and stood beside him, and then said, "You may believe that mutants are already a big problem, but in fact, in other civilizations, such incidents might not even make the city's headlines."
"I've seen a civilization that was on the verge of leaving their galaxy when the star group that housed a large portion of their population suddenly plunged into extreme cold. For the next thousand years, all the headline news was about where another heating furnace had exploded, or which city lost half of its population again. Everyone just took it in stride..."
"Some civilizations have experienced industrial accidents, polluting the atmosphere. Other civilizations have had their planet's lifespan drastically reduced, forcing relocation. Some have had stars extinguished, planets crashed into each other, sudden limb mutations, or unexplained epidemics that affected an entire race. Most civilizations are struggling like this."
"Humans are like flowers in a greenhouse, only those who have never worried about food and drink could have so many disputes, and the philosophical thinking that arises from them."
"If survival were difficult, and you were struggling to stay afloat, you wouldn't have time to endlessly debate something as trivial as the X-gene."
Nick laughed, then said, "The disasters you're talking about remind me of a race..."
He exchanged a glance with Loki, and simultaneously, they shared an understanding smile and said in unison:
"Sulfur Dwarfs."
