America, Colorado State, Denver, Florence ADX Supermax Prison, 7:20 p.m.
A massive black and white box truck stopped on a special concrete road, leaving a black mark on the road surface due to its heavy inertia when the brakes were applied.
Behind the truck, there were four convoy vehicles of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After the truck stopped, the lead vehicle continued to move forward and took a turn to block the front of the truck.
After the small vehicle stopped, the four doors opened synchronously, and four armed policemen stepped out, standing on both sides of the truck.
The last escort vehicle stopped at the end of the truck, and this time, two agents dressed in the field uniforms of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a scholar in a suit, and Davis in a civilian uniform exited from the vehicle.
After getting out of the car, Davis first put on his sunglasses. Even though it was nighttime, the gathering of so many vehicles made the headlights a bit dazzling. William, dressed in a suit and leather shoes, came forward and shook hands with him. Davis glanced at him but didn't say a word.
Davis picked up the walkie-talkie on his waist and started commanding the armed police and agents at the scene for the final step of the escort - to transport the prisoner to the prison.
After the commander and armed personnel entered, a specialized driver moved the other smaller vehicles away from the scene to prevent anyone from meddling with the convoy beforehand.
The venue in front of the prison gate was left with just one truck and the blast barriers erected by the armed police. All armed personnel hid behind the barriers in groups of three, aiming their weapons at the truck's doors.
The command personnel withdrew 200 meters away. Behind them, a fully armed policeman and a supervising agent came in front of Davis. Davis put down his walkie-talkie, took off his sunglasses, and watched the agent inspect the equipment on the policeman.
After the inspection, a female agent with a form approached. Davis glanced at the contents of the form, picked up the pen next to it, and signed his name. The female agent then took the form to the armed policeman and supervisor for confirmation.
After everyone had confirmed, the armed police and agents went to the truck door. Suddenly, the sound of gun bolts being operated resounded, and all light sources were directed at the door, illuminating it as if it was daylight.
Under the intense white light, the door slowly opened. However, it was not a prisoner inside, but a sealed square metal box. Judging from the equipment attached to the exterior of the metal box, it was completely airtight, even the air exchange was accomplished through a machine and oxygen delivery system.
The armed policeman adjusted the firearm hanging on his chest, grabbed the handle at the edge of the door and climbed in, unfastened the lock holding the box in place and pulled the lever on the right. The rail on the top of the truck slowly descended.
The agent still standing outside the door grabbed the front of the rail and pulled it down, but also let out a ladder. After securing the tail of the ladder to the ground, they too stepped into the truck. Together, the two of them pushed the metal box out along the rail.
After the box slid to the ground, the six nearest armed police divided into two teams on either side, with fully loaded weapons, all aiming at the metal box's door.
Davis walked up and entered the password manually on the password lock. After he stepped back, another agent stepped forward to input the secondary password, followed by the tertiary password. After all the passwords were entered, the door opened.
Suddenly, the intense light made it impossible to clearly see any faces or silhouettes inside. The purpose was to temporarily blind the prisoner and prevent violent behavior.
But in actuality, the prisoner inside the box wasn't capable of hurting anyone. He was wearing a restraint suit, a metal mask, and shackles on his feet. In addition to this, he was locked in a cage, the bars of which were thicker than fists.
Again, using the same method, the iron cage was pushed out of the box. This time there was no need to open the cage door as the cage had casters attached to its base. The agents and armed police pushed the cage towards the prison gate.
All the armed policemen lined up on either side, with Davis trailing behind. He looked at Shiller's silhouette inside the cage and squinted his eyes slowly.
In just a fleeting glimpse earlier, he saw Shiller's desolate gray eyes.
They certainly didn't look like the elegant and gentle scholar he had met in the hall. However, his poise was indeed worthy of such intense surveillance.
The convoy moved slowly in the darkness, first crossing an open square, then up a slope into a building.
This wasn't the main entrance of the prison, which was reserved for visitors and journalists. The entrance for prisoner transport was special. All exposed outdoor paths had high walls and electric nets while all indoor paths had both monitoring and weaponry.
Once around the back of the building, there was a small door. Only two people at a time could push the prisoner's cage through, while everyone else had to follow behind. After entering, Davis went through a different door on the side of the building. After the cage was put into the elevator, he also boarded it.
In the elevator were only two escorts, Shiller in the cage, and Davis.
