Prologue

The ice glistened in like the chimes of a xylophone. Winter was a harsh season for all wildlife, humans, and all living beings alike, infinitely penetrating into the life force of the planet. What seemed to have been a transient snowy storm never ceased to exist. The world was dyed in a coat of white, spreading its ever glowing shine as the sunlight bounced back on the ground.

The 'Neverwinter' had lasted for the past century ever since the end of the red plague. Humanity one day was infected by an unknown virus called the red plague. which spread globally in a matter of months during its first appearance in the year 2020. At the early sparks between the two largest superpowers, the United Federation and the Acian Empire, the number of infections had reached a peak where 50% of their population was infested with red plague and the number of resources was dwindling at a frightening pace. The cause of such catastrophic spread of virus was the fact citizens of the United Federation refused to wear masks. The red plague was highly infectious when air particles were airborne and exposed bare between people. Once the resources were running low, the two superpowers started a world war, which were at odds over the remaining resources that each power possessed.

One day, during the midst of the end of a battle, people that were bedridden in the hospital from the red plague started emitting a strange response. A soldier onsite was concerned after hearing a strange noise.

"I wonder what's going on over there?"

Bloodshot eyes peeked out from their lifeless bodies. Their skins started turning a light grey shade, and suddenly they were full of vitality. What seemed to be a war that was already consuming a large lifeline of each superpower's remaining resources became a living nightmare suddenly overnight. One by one, all the infected had turned into such a state, and they rampantly attacked the normal healthy people as if they were livestock.

"On the double, let's retreat for now!" yelled the soldier.

The situation was completely out of control. The number of newly evolved infectors had woken up and started gnawing away at the normal people inside the hospital.

"HELP ME!!!" screamed a nurse trying to get away.

Once the soldier had given out the order, all the positioned troops had quickly left the hospital. They knew what they were up against, and such demonic looking beings could not be seen as human beings anymore. At the time, the virus was not yet named as the red plague yet, but after seeing such crimson red eyes, and light grey skin that seemed to belong to a being in the hellish realm, the name red plague became the official name of the virus.

The nurse was reduced to a rotten piece of meat and bones. Skin and muscles were bitten away as if a million ants had come and devoured their oversized prey. All was left was remaining scraps of meat on the bones, almost so clean that it was eerie.

The same scene happened everywhere, and soon the world was engulfed into an never ending hell. The terrible war that seemed to break the footholds of the two superpowers had amounted to nothing compared to the billions of infectors reigning over the normal humans. In the matter of months, 90% of the remaining human population had been decimated by the infectors. The remaining 10% were living a guerilla life, devoid of any government, laws, and morality. It was normal for humans to kill each other for the smallest matters such as a bowl of porridge for supper. There seemed to be no end to the gloomy situation, as the days only persisted upon combating the infectors and killing fellow human beings to survive.

When the end seemed to be nearing, one starry black night, an blueish flame was piercing through the dark night as if it was a foreign alien ship visiting from afar. Then in an instant, the blue light exploded and the whole planet was wrapped in an endless boom that lasted for days and nights without end.
