The Whimper(Part 4)

"What is it, Mr. Lucas?" The student finally spokes after making sure that is friend has been out of the room.

"You're not being really honest to me earlier, Norman." He still keeps his tone calm.

"What are you talking about? I've already told you everything I've known about Kate!"

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I…"

"Are you FREAKING sure?!?!?" Finally the man loses his temper with the student's attitude. Norman sit still with a shock expression on his face; he never though the teacher will be THIS mad at him.

"Of… course… why…why should I be lying to you?"

"Then, get up and follow me." Instead of waiting for his students to voluntarily follow him; Lucas drags the young man by force with him as he walks to the back of the music room.

"Huh? Where are we going?"

"Just follow my lead."

"Explain this then…" The man finally releases his grip on Norman's hand leading him to the door of the back room.

"This… it's the door to the back room.."

"Get in."

"No! I.."

"I Said Get IN!"

"Mr. Lucas!!! Open Up, please! Why are you doing this?"

"Look carefully in there… and tell me what you've left out about your story."

"What? I don't understand; please! Let me out! It stinks in here! Mr. Lucas, I beg you!" the students sounds scared and was about to cry.

"Look around carefully and tell me what you didn't tell me earlier." Panic and freaking out; Norman turns around with hesitate and looks around the room carefully; his eyes stopped at the sight of a half-opened cupboard behind at the back of the room. He came approach it slowly as he tries to keep talking to his teacher.

"Mr. Lucas? Are you still there? "

"Depends on what you're about to say…."

"I swear I didn't… WHAAA!!!!" He stepped back and fall back to the ground as he saw what was inside the old cupboard; A corpse of a female student that was started to get rotten with both her eyes and mouth open; with a foul smell.

"Mr. Lucas!! Open up the door! Please! Open up!" He immediately gets on his feet to the door and knock on the door with a force to open it.

"You need to tell me the truth."

"Just let me out of here! I'll tell you anything you wanted me to; get me away from that thing!"

"That 'thing' is Kate."

"What? I swear I have nothing to do with this, I swear!"

"Then, I'll just have to let you stay here for the night then; sweet dreams."

"No! Please! Ok! I'll tell you everything. Just don't leave me."

"I'm all ears…"

"It happens right after Uncle Bie done with his night patrol that day. We both promised to meet here that night. Actually…"

"What?"

"She was hesitates at first; but I insist. And we ended up did." Norman finally turns with his back leaning against the door; slowly dragging his gaze towards the lifeless Kate. He looks more sad than guilty.

"What happen?"

"I knew she wasn't into me right from the start and I was the one who keep pushing myself to her. Come to think of it, it does make sense if I say it was my fault."

"It surprises me that you would admit to your wrong doing this quick." Lucas sighs as he turns to face the door; ready to open it for his student.

"I'm not… but I did said; If." Norman's words stopped the man's intentions.

"Wh… What?" His voice is shaking with anger.

"I was never at fault, Mr. Lucas. Yes, I admitted that I DO push her into liking me; but she never respond to it. So I just give up…"

'No you didn't…' Lucas played a monolog in his head while leaning back against the door.

"You didn't finish your story yet… what actually happen when you two met up?" He tried to ignore the fact that Norman sounds like a jerk; earlier.

"We both meet up in front of the music room; then I left after I told her I was going to give up on chasing her. That's it."

"LIES!!!!" a cold voice echoed inside the dark room; both of the guys were terrified by the sudden incident.

"Wh… What was that?"

"I've told you to be honest earlier."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Even when Lucas can't see him, he still can hear a panic tone in his shaky voice.

"Be honest; Norman! What happen that night?"

"I've told you! Nothing!"

"ARGGHHH!!" In a very dim light that shine through the tiny window above the cupboard, he can merely see a figure started moving from inside the metal cupboard.

"Norman? Answer me, Norman!"

"Mr. Lucas, help me! Something just moves!!"

"What? Just tell me what happen that night!"

"Please just open this door!" He turns towards the locked door in panic and starts to pull hard trying to open it.

"I'm trying; but I can't!" seems like his teacher was already trying the same thing since he shouted for help earlier.

"Try harder! Please! I can hear it's getting nearer!"

"Then start telling the truth! I'll find a way to open this door at the same time." He speaks in a panic tone; even though he despises Norman for his wrongdoing towards Kate, he was still one of his students.

"Norman!"

"We meet that night; outside of the music room. I told her I gave up on her… but… Argh!!" His sudden scream made Lucas shook his head.

"Norman, what's happening?"

"She got my feet…" The 'thing' he saw earlier somehow has been crawling towards him and now got a grip on one of his legs.

"Just start with your story already!"

"What's that have anything to do with this!"

"Just do it!"

"Let me go! I'm telling!" His voice was shaking as he spoke in a panic tone.

"Norman!"

"I told you, we meet earlier… then, then… Argh!!" He screams again as he felt a sudden pain trough his feet.

"Norman?!?" Lucas turns into panic mode when there was no respond from Norman.

"…."

"Norman, answer me!"

In the meantime; the student that was being caught by the 'thing' he saw earlier, it was what Norman thought earlier.

'Kate?' the student tried to speak but failed as his mouth has already being covered by 'Kate's hands; he gives her a shock and confusion look.

"You lied… Why did you lie? I though you like me?" A shiver runs down his spine as she whispers with a hoarse voice near his ears.

"It's that really you; Kate? What happen? I didn't remember leaving you here that night…" instead of continued being panic, he slowly removes her hand that has been covering his mouth and speaks in a rather calm tone.

"Y…You're not scared of… me?" Her tone was different than before; the hoarse in her voice has disappeared and spoke in her own voice.

"No, why should I be? Tell me what happen…" Norman holds her hands in his as he spokes.

"But… you…" slowly her face turns into her old self; her near-rotten skin became clear again, even the smells suddenly fades as she slowly lowers her head.

"Yes, I admit that I did wronged you that very night; but it didn't mean that I would actually leave you alone, or even let anything happen to you."

"…I though… you lock me inside, Norm."

"How could I do that?"

"But you try to rape me!" Her voice turns hoarse in anger again as her eyes were teary as if she was about to cry. Norman just let her hand grips his tightly even though he was already in pain.

"That was because I can't accept the fact that you reject me earlier. I admit I was wrong; I'm really sorry… but I swear I didn't have anything to do with this."

"So… It was all just a misunderstanding?"

"Even so, I'm still at fault as I lied about us; about what I've done to you earlier. I'm really sorry… I will stay if that's what you want me to do."

"No… this is not right…" Kate suddenly gets away from him while shaking her head until she leans on the cupboard's door.

"Kate? What happen; where are you going? What do you mean by that?" Norman gets up and approaches her slowly without any sign of being scared as he was earlier.

"… He told me it was you; and I have to take you if I want to get out of here…. And I will have to take you in by force; that you won't admitted to your wrong doing." She shut both of her ears with her hands as murmuring nonstop.

"Kate? Kate! Listen to me! What are you talking about? He? Who was it? It can't be our teacher is it?" Norman grabs both of Kate's pale arms as she was still in confusion.

"No… it's not… but he was aiming for him. He was aiming for my brother; Lucas! He uses me as a bait to lure him out!" a sudden rose in her tone shook his head as Kate push him to get on his feet again.

"What?"

"Norman, go get Lucas now! Something's off with this whole thing! His target was Lucas all along."

"What? What about you, then?"

"Just go… I promise I'll be here when you get back." She was smiling as the door was slowly opened.

As Kate suspected, their teacher has been gone since his conversation with Kate earlier. Norman gets his phone and starts to dial Lucas's cell phone number but he was out of reach. Without any clues; he headed back to the room to get help from Kate.

"Kate? I can't reach him. What I'm…? Kate; where are you?" There was no respond since he entered the back room. It was still all messy and fills with a stench smell; Norman can finally see the corpse clearly inside the metal cupboard. He approaches the lifeless Kate before falls on his knees with tears in his eyes.

"Kate… I'm sorry… it was all my fault; I shouldn't do that to you. If it's not because of me, you wouldn't be trying to run away from me in the first place and ended up here."

As he was trying to take out Kate's body out of the cupboard; he found an old doll inside the cupboard as well.

"Huh?"

'He did it…' a sudden voice approach him making him shook his head and drop the doll.

"I see…" He inhales as figured something out and took the doll from the ground together with Kate's body out from the back room.

He headed out from the music room with the doll in his hands after putting Kate's body on the table of the music room earlier.

'Yes… you have to kill him… he was the one who make you do these things. Who makes you suffer and loose Kate, the one you love most.' He stopped behind the school building as staring at the doll; he still hears the voice that keep pestering him since earlier.

He lights up the doll with a lighter he got earlier before throwing it to the ground.

'Human!! What are you doing? You're supposed to kill him, kill Lucas! Not me! WARRRGGHHHH KILL LUCAS!!!' the voice becomes louder and louder as the fire was burning the doll before it fades and finally became silent. Stench smell started to fill the air.

"You're not being honest, Mr. Lucas. You should have told me everything before." Norman speaks casually as his teacher approaches him from behind.

"You know I can't do that… she will eventually get to me if I do." Seems like they have already figure things out before Lucas approaches Norman for the second time.

It's true that Norman try to rape Kate; he was being obsess with her and disappointed as being reject by her continuously. Kate was trying to get away from him that night and ended up coming to the music room. In panic she came across the back room; accidently being locked in that day.

Norman has already doing a search on her and assume that she was already gone home as he didn't find her anywhere near the school area. So he leaves the school area not long after that; without knowing she was still inside the back room.

That night ended up quietly as both man was staring at the still burning doll; even now the smell stills lingering in the air. In the dim light coming from the fire; Norman was still looking sad at what he did earlier as the guilt feeling feels his expressions. On the other hand, Lucas cast a sinister smile at the view. Seems like he got something from the incident that just happen to both of them; but no one knew what it was.

The next morning the whole school was shock at the news of a corpse being discovered in the school ground. An investigation did took place and the prime suspect was Lucas and the school guard; but Norman surrender as he still felt guilty for what happen to Kate and told the authorities that it has nothing to do with either their music teacher nor the school guard.

As for Lucas, he proceed to take home his sister's corpse for a family funeral and continues with his job until the end of the month; like how the principle have agreed earlier before he leaves to his mother's house to and live with both his mother and grandmother for good.
