Chapter 82

Alanna looked at the lady and at the door. The woman raised an eyebrow at her.

"Oh, right." She replied awkwardly. Taking a deep breath, Alanna took a step forward and the door opened. She took one last look at the woman and walked into the room.

The place had poor lighting. Alanna didn't see much ahead of her. She knew it had a table further away, as the computer lighting indicated that. But she couldn't see who was there. Her sense of smell, as a human, wasn't very good.

The scraping of a chair meant that whoever was sitting there, was getting up.

"What is your name?" the male voice, grave, asked. Alanna smiled, slightly. It was him!

"Alanna. Alanna O'Connor." She replied, her breath coming fast.

"Alanna..." He repeated. "Alanna, you seem too young for this job. I very much doubt that you have the necessary experience."
