Chapter 5

Alanna had chosen a restaurant not too ostentatious, but good enough for them to eat well and have privacy. He got there a few minutes before she did. And when she got out of the car, he was dazzled.

"Miss Doyle." He said, offering his hand for her to take. She looked at his hand and, just to avoid looking stupid, she placed her hand in his.

"Mister Quinn." The same feeling as before took them both. This time, he was much more gallant, and less goofy. She noticed him trying to show off like the Alpha he was. Despite not being a wolf, she smelled his pheromones affect her even though she tried to resist. 'This bastard is really handsome!' She thought bitterly. His scent was alluring. He was mouthwatering, but she didn't want to bite him, well, not to hurt, at least. She wanted other things. When she realized what was happening to her, she tried to think of other things, since she knew he would feel her arousal.

"Thank you so much for accepting my invitation." He offered her his arm, with a smirk. He was feeling how affected she was by him. She could even try to deny it, but she couldn't disguise that she was attracted to him.

They were shown a table at the back of the room, in a conspicuous spot, so that no one could overhear what they were talking about.

"Now you can start talking." She said, bossy.

He smiled before saying anything. He was trying to keep his cool, but the sight of that woman was out of this world. She had gone to her house to shower and change clothes, he could smell it on her skin. Now, she wore a simple, green dress that perfectly matched her skin tone and hair. Beige heels, hardly any makeup except for the blood red lipstick. On most women, it might look too flamboyant, orange-red hair, with a green dress and a more than flashy lipstick. But on her, it was perfect. Everything about her was perfect.

As they walked over to the table, he noticed all of the present men's eyes on her—some of them wanting her for themselves, and others wanting to be like her. In any case, they admired her, and Faolán led her proudly.

"Right. May I call you Alanna?" he asked, when they got to their table. She nodded. He gently pulled back a chair for her, and she sat down. He pulled another chair for himself and sat down, as well. "Do you believe in love at first sight, Alanna?"

"Sure, why not?" She answered. She loved a man madly, years ago, and it was love at first sight. However, he was ripped from her life.

"Would you believe me if I said I'm in love with a woman, having only met her once?" he kept eye contact with her.

"Hmm." was her answer.

The waiter stopped by their table, introducing himself and asking for orders. Alanna ordered a dry martini, while Faolán preferred a chocolate liquor. She looked at him questioningly.

Around 2 minutes later, the waiter was back with their drinks.

"I love this liquor." He stated, and she thought it was cute, but then she went back to her serious expression. She couldn't have such thoughts about the enemy. "I'm not saying this to influence you to give me your territory, but I'm really interested in you."

"I highly doubt it." She said, after taking a sip from her martini glass.

"I mean it. The other day when you showed up at the cafe, I was completely fascinated, and I didn't even know who you were." He spoke in a seductive tone, which made her burst out laughing.

"You didn't know who I was?! I can't accept that a man who's the head of a company goes to talk business with someone, without even checking if it was the right person. If it were in the old days, I wouldn't be surprised; but these days, with the internet available? Inconceivable!" She said, leaning back in her chair and looking at him.

Faolán did admit having made a mistake in this regard.

"Yeah, I was careless. My head has been a little out of it, these days. But I assure you that I am not lying. And, from what I can tell, with all due respect, you are not indifferent to me." He said, smirking.

"I'm not a hypocrite. So, yes, I admit you are very handsome, charming, the type of man most women wouldn't even try to resist. However, I, Mr. Quinn, am not part of that select group of ladies."

"And that's what I like about you the most. You're not just beautiful; you're also smart and you've got a strong personality, everything a Lun—" He stopped, cleared his throat, as if he'd been choking, and took a sip of the water the waiter had served them as a courtesy, "…a born leader must have."

Alanna realized what he was about to say. Luna. This confirmed her suspicions. He had recognized her as his mate. It was tempting to use that to destroy him for good, but she knew things could go wrong. If she was his mate, that meant her attraction to him was reciprocal, and she couldn't deny that for too long. After so many centuries of experience, Alanna wasn't going to take such a risk.

"You sweet-talking me won't make me give up on the lands. Now, if that's what you wanted to tell me, we can end this meeting right now." She said, drinking what was left in her glass in a single gulp and pulling out her wallet to pay her share. Rafe, who had been just watching the entire time, began to fidget. She took a hundred-dollar bill from her purse, placed it on the table, stood up and headed to the door.

"Wait! Don't go!" Faolán called out to her, standing up. She didn't wait, so he went after her, caught up with her, held her by the arm and turned her to him. She tried to pull herself back, but he pulled her closer to himself.

"Let me go!" She commanded, between her teeth. The last thing she wanted was to attract other people's attention.

He didn't say anything, just cupped his hands around her face and lowered his lips towards hers, taking her by surprise. Alanna was unable to resist it, for, as she feared, they had a very strong bond. With every second their lips touched, the bond grew stronger and stronger, until her mind began to blank out to focus exclusively on him.

"These young people have no respect at all. They could at least go to their houses to do that!" An old lady walked past them and remarked loudly, for them to hear, which woke Alanna from her 'trance,' and she pushed him away.

"Enough. I don't like to do this in public." She said, but Faolán did not give up.

"Okay, so let's go to my hotel." He said , without giving her time to refuse him. He dragged her into the car and drove to the hotel. Alanna was tempted to flee, by opening the car's door and jumping off, but she didn't want him to know about her abilities. Yet.
