Chapter 6

Rome and Cassandra walked down the snowy Street to Grandma's store after they alighted from their ride.Rome kicked the little snow on the walkway with his boot,he looked like he was enjoying it as he kept smiling. Cassandra looked at him smiling while holding his hand."Mommy,he called as his blue eyes looked up to her. Sandra looked down at him smiling,"yes sweetie."I want to make a snowball,he said pulling her arm down."Ok, darling,but not here okay,how about when we get back home? She said as she rewrapped the wool scarf that was getting loose on Rome's neck.

"Okay,he said excited. He kept playing with the snow on the pathway. They both entered Grandma's store together. Grandma was putting some boxes on her shelves, probably preparing for Christmas."That's Grandma, Cassandra said pointing at Grandma's direction."Oh, you're here, Grandma said excited. She moved towards us,Rome immediately ran towards her, then stood in front of her staring at her watching for any reaction,then he bowed a little and greeted,"Good morning, Grandma,he said as he hugged her. Sandra and Grandma looked at each other shocked and smiling. Grandma laughed and looked at Rome who was still staring at her,"Such a cute mannered boy,Sandra moved closer and greeted Grandma,"Cassy dear,Rome is the sweetest boy I have ever known."He sure is, Cassandra replied.

SANDRA'S POV

We both walked into Granny's store. I immediately sighted Granny putting some boxes on her shelf,she must be preparing for Christmas. I looked at Rome who had already noticed Granny,"That's Grandma,I said pointing at Grandma. Grandma had noticed us and came closer to us. I watched as Rome let go of my hand and ran to Grandma,he stared at her for ba while and Grandma stared back. He was probably waiting for a reaction. Then he bowed a little,"Good morning, Grandma,he said,then he hugged her.I was a little shocked about that action,maybe that's why he was curious about Granny's personality. I looked at Grandma who was also shocked,then she smiled at me. She looked at Rome and smiled at him,"Such a cute mannered boy,she said happily. I moved closer to Grandma,"Good morning, Grandma."Cassy dear,Rome is the sweetest boy I have ever known,she said smiling."He sure is,I said with a smile.

That's Grandma's charm, everyone likes her and she likes everyone. Rome giggled,"he sure looks like you,Cassy, she added. She pinched his cheeks and led him by his hand to a chair in the kitchen."Here,sit down,I'll get my famous chocolate cookies,I just made them, you'll like them,she said smiling at Rome. Okay, Grandma,Rome said happily.he looked at me and I smiled at him."Okay,I'll tbe right back,she said going towards her cupboard to get her box of cookies."Mommy,Rome whispered.I looked at him,"yes sweetie."Granny is really nice,I like her already,he whispered back. I smiled at him,I have known Grandma since I was a little girl. She and my mother were really close,until she died. I felt a little down as I thought of my mother, Agnes.

She was the cheerful one,I loved her more than anything. Her home was perfect. I was an only child,but home was still fun until Brittany,my step mom came into the picture. I just couldn't think of why my dad will cheat on my mom with the way they loved each other. I envied thier love and hoped I would find someone like my dad. She said my dad,Fred got her pregnant,but my dad denied and said it was a mistake,he didn't do it on purpose. Since then things went sour between my mom and dad. My dad was trying to make peace with my mother and try to regain her trust,while my mom thinks he cheated on her because she couldn't conceive. So while my mom was having trouble getting pregnant, Brittany was getting closer to my dad. Well to gut the whole story short,my mom got pregnant about a year later. It was fine but Brittany was still in our house. And Brittany will never want to get along with my mom,she makes to make my mom look like the bad person. And soon their fighta was driving my dad crazy,he would stay out of the house for days only to come back drunk, everything was falling apart right in front of me. It all ended the day she died.
