Mysterious Element

Alex was quite surprised and didn't know what the outcome would be.

Captain Fen finally moved forward, "Let him join them," and he said after some thought. "I'll inform the higher-ups."

Alex moved towards those at the right, and his eyes lowered to the ground. 'Here, I thought I was going to start with a sparkle of luck. What's with the transparent glow?' He couldn't help but pull his hair while standing at the required place.

The test continued, and soon, it finally came to an end. Out of the two hundred children, only five had been unable to awaken an element. Alright, time for the next test, Captain Fen led them through the door those from the middle zone had entered.

They were just rounding up the test and quickly left going through another door in the room.

The room was constructed into various sections, with a glass like barrier separating them. Several machines filled the room with wires attached to it leading into the little glass like rooms. They was a total of five of the glass room.

"Now, this is the physical aspect of the test. You will be tested based on your speed, strength, agility, and endurance. Let me show you guys what you're to do," he said, entering one of the glass like rooms.

A large drum appeared from the ground made from a dark material. "Now, all you have to do is to hit the drum with all your strength." Pulling his hand backwards, he gave the drum a light punch. It started vibrating, and numbers were counting rapidly and finally had stopped.

Strength test: score: 189

The score soon wiped with the drum returning back to normal. Everyone were shocked with the high number he got and were getting pumped up to give in their best. He then pointed out five students to enter each room. They all got ready and punched the drum with full force.

The score started counting but soon stopped.

Derek maldon: Strength test

Score: 17

Cory Bell: Strength test

Score: 13

Terry Spike: Strength test

Score: 9

Tory Depp: Strength test

Score: 10

Elena Pelham: Strength test

Everyone had a bewildering look on their faces, seeing their score.

"What the hell is this," they all had one thought with a blank face. Soon, they start trooping in participating in the strength test, some coming out with an unsatisfied look. Finally, Alex was called out along with the next set.

Taking a deep breath, 'come on, I can do this!' Stepping forward, Alex entered the room and prepared himself. Drawing in deep breath, he took a stance and was ready.

"Assume the drum is the beast that killed Dalux. If I had the strength, I would have been able to save him. I could have saved mum and dad also. I need to pass this test no matter what happens. You damn beast, Just you wait, I'm coming for you. I'm going to wipe y'all from earth," he said the last line out while swinging his hand.

The drum was hit, and soon, numbers began to count and came to a stop.

Alex Mikado: Strength test

Score: 28

"Whoa, look at that boy score," they all murmured. "Wasn't he the one that had a transparent glow during the magic test?" One of them asked.

"That's good, I'm the highest," he thought with a smile. 'At least if I don't have an element, my physical prowess could make up for it.'

"This boy, there's something up with him," the captain thought as he stared at Alex trying to discern the mystery surrounding him.

"Take over from here, I'll be back shortly." He told one of the soldiers and then walked out of the room. A black crow flew and landed on his shoulders as he came out from the building.

Touching the crow's head, a message was being passed to it to be transferred to the higher-ups. The crow them flew up, flapping his wings toward the distant horizon.

Entering the room, he was just in time to witness the last group coming out of the glass like room with disappointed expressions.

"Hmmm," clearing his throat, he had stopped the chattering as the students looked up, ready for whatever was next.

Next is the agility and speed test. Entering the room once again, a light lit up, and the room seemed to be undergoing changes. He appeared to be standing in an open space with various devices, glowing bright red at the sky.

When the countdown reached zero, the devices released red beams, which he dodged as he ran across the expanse. Soon, the area changed with various obstacles blocking his way. After some minutes, the level increased with projectiles being shot out along with the beams pursing him.

Finally, he failed himself after some time, and soon, his score was displayed.

Agility test: score 78

Time: ten minutes

He had reduced his speed in order for the students to catch up with what he was explaining to them, earning him a low score. Just like before, he started pointing out students to enter the glass room.

The first student to enter failed woefully, unable to last up to a minute. The test continued with the next group entering. This time around, they lasted much longer than the last group with a platinum blonde haired girl lasting five minutes.

Lina O'Neil: Agility/ Speed test

Score: 39

Time: 5mins 10secs

Terry Spike: Agility/ Speed test

Score: 15

Time: 2 mins 5secs

Derek Maldon: Agility/Speed test

Alex was pumped up seeing the score, his whole body brimming with excitement. Soon, his turn reached, and he entered the glass room. The room began to change, turning into an icy terrain.

Alex prepared himself as the countdown elapsed with the devices releasing the red beams while chasing after him. Alex strained his senses as he jumped and avoided the beams of laser energy.

He soon approached the bushy area with various obstacles blocking his way. He managed to push through, continuing in dodging the laser beams.

After the four minutes mark, projectiles began shooting towards him along with the laser beams. He did his best in avoiding them only getting hit by a few.

'Just hold on a little longer,' he thought as he felt his chest burning. Soon, he began to feel dizzy and had got caught by a hidden root landing to the ground.

The beams and projectiles struck him, and finally, the room began turning back to its normal form.

Alex Mikado: Agility/Speed test

Score: 44

Time: 5mins 52secs

The rest were stunned again, seeing the score. Alex walked out of the room with a smile, "I guess I tried my best... for now." He stood beside the rest as they gave him a weird stare.

Captain Fen cleared his throat, gaining their attention. "You guys can rest for some minutes." Walking at the room, he walked out of the building looking towards the sky.

The crow flew past beautiful valleys and soon landed on the window of one of the highest buildings within the inner zone.

The window was pushed opened and the bird landed on the outstretched arms of an old man.

"Hmmm, a transparent glow emitted by the crystal. A good physique, this is truly disturbing," he thought as he brought out a large book within the locker beside him. His eyes swiftly moved across the pages, and finally, he had appeared at a part with torn pages.

"No one had ever been able to see the other parts of this book. Is this something related to the boy?

"I'm not sure about that, this is something different entirely." A young guy standing close to him had replied. His red eyes a mixture of intrigue fixed at the distant horizon.

With a sigh, he closed the book. "Since no grade had shown, it means the boy didn't awaken an element."

Passing on his message, the crow flew from the building, heading back to the middle zone.

Soon, the crow reached the middle zone, and within minutes, it landed on Fen's shoulder.
