Chapter 2: The Guild

After arriving at the Guild with Heaphy I headed to the counter to see Rose.

"Heya Rose guess whose back" I said excitedly.

"Hello Ironmonger it's good to see you again," She said coldly.

"Heaphy, Rose is being mean to me."I cried holding on to Hephaestus

Smacking me on the back of the head she replied "If you didn't act like such a fool all the time the people in your life would be a whole lot nicer to you."

Shooting Heaphy a look of betrayal I turned back to Rose who smiled wryly "Rose I'm here to re-enroll as an Adventurer."

"And here I thought you were one of the smart ones who retired Micheal" Shot back Rose

"You wound me Rose I disappear for a few years and you automatically assume the worst" I shot back.

Looking confused Rose replied "Assuming the worst would be assuming you had died"

"For an active adventurer death and retirement are the same thing," I said back seriously.

At this point, Hephaestus interupted our banter saying "Miss Flott could we have a private room to conduct Micheal's re-enrollment"

"Of course Goddess" Said Rose as she got up from behind the desk and led us to one of the back rooms. "Okay please fill out these forms Goddess Hephaestus, Micheal could have filled these forms out on his own."

"Miss Flott I'm sure you remember the type of person Micheal is," she said wryly "He has the habit of causing trouble when he's bored when not supervised"

"Heaphy, I'm not a child who needs adult supervision" I whined

"Mikey what would happen if the fat elf decided to insult you calling you a liar when you reported your level?" asked Heaphy

"Hmmm," I said thinking "I'd probably crush him with pure mana" I responded happily

"Which would at worst kill him and at best brutally injure him and piss off the Old man," Said Heaphy

Deciding that there was no possible way for me to win this argument I wisely decided to keep my mouth shut and get started on the paperwork.

After completing the paperwork Rose went through them and all of a sudden sat up ramrod straight.

"Micheal I believe you've made a mistake when you filled in your level" Said Rose

"Huh," I said looking over "No it looks correct"

"It says you are a level 9" Stated Rose

"Just to clarify as of this morning Micheal is a level 9," Said Heaphy backing up my claim.

"I'm going to have to report this to my higher-ups before I can submit it please wait here," Said Rose as she walked out of the door.

After waiting 10 minutes Royman Mardeel the fat elf arrived "Hello it's good to see you again Micheal please prove you are a level 9" he said zeroing in on me immediately when entering the room.

"Oi pig elf it's Mr.Wells to you we weren't close before I left the city and we sure as hell are not close now." I growled "Now why the hell should I prove my level to you? I don't care what you think and your opinions are irrelevant to me"

"Watch your tone when speaking to me" he shouted "I'm the head of the guild and one word from me is all it would take to have you banned from the dungeon and run out of Orario"

"Firstly," I said using my mana to apply pressure onto him "DO. NOT. EVER. Raise your voice in the presence of my Goddess. Am I clear Pig Elf?" I said coldly as he started to nod realizing the kind of situation he is now in. "Secondly you know the weapons that the guild has been trying to buy from Solingen, the unbreakable magic weapons, who do you think forged them all it would take is one letter from me and they will happily start selling them to Rakia." I threatened 

"Mikey calm yourself there's no need to contribute to the fall of Orario just because Mr. Mardeel pissed you off" Interjected Heaphy causing me to pull my mana back into me. "After all, you are part of the reason Orario is still here."

All of a sudden a Shadowy figure appeared from Royman's shadow "Micheal calm down. Royman will be punished don't worry Ouranos and I already know of your level and its validity due to Lady Astraea informing Ouranos at the last Denatus that you were a level 8 and would be making your way back to Orario when you were ready for your next level up." Said Fels in his usual monotone voice.

"Fels" I acknowledged "If you've been here the whole time why the hell have I been dealing with this swine you know how much I abhor his existence."

"Ouranos and I thought he was getting a bit too big for his britches and needed to be in a situation with someone who would happily kill him to put him back in his place and remind him that the guild works for adventurers, not the other way around." Said Fels 

"Fine," I said sighing "Just make sure I'm back in the system for the next Expedition" 

"Don't worry you'll be in the system when I leave from here" Said Fels

"And Fels come and see me next week to finish our conversation from 7 years ago," I said seriously.

"Don't worry Micheal Ouranos and I have been taking care of it. I'll see you sometime next week." Fels said before fading into Rose's Shadow

"Pig elf you are no longer required here. Leave" I growled causing him to scurry out.

"Rose sit down, have some tea, and calm down," I said to the obviously frightened woman 

"I, I'm fine" She stuttered out 

"Rose you're not fine" I shot back "Your ears are down and your tail's wrapped around your leg. Now sit down drink and calm down" I said evenly before being hit on the back of the head by Heaphy.

"Heaphy" I whined "What was that for"

"Micheal I literally told you not to pressure Mr Mardeel with your magic shortly before he arrived. And what did you do?"

"I pressured him with my magic," I said cheerfully 

"That's it I forgot how irritating you are. Rose clock out for the day we're going to the Hostess of Fertility and Micheals paying."

"But Heaphy my poor wallet it might die," I said with tears in my eyes.

"Don't worry Trubaki is meant to be meeting us there with her new protege, and she still doesn't know your back yet" She said smiling evilly as she dragged Rose and me out of the guild.
