Fighting Inner Demons
"Life can be so unpredictable," Corbin mused, his fingers never ceasing their soothing motions. "It's as if we're all walking on a tightrope, trying to balance our dreams with the reality that sometimes feels like quicksand beneath our feet."
Sylvia paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts. Depending heavily on her previous experiences with Corbin, she struck a cord she didn't expect to at this time.
"And love... it's like a distant star, isn't it? We see its light, its promise, but we're always afraid it might burn out before we can reach it."
The pregnant pause from Corbin's side worried her. Did she say anything wrong again? Did he misunderstand again? Maybe she shouldn't have said anything.
She was about to apologise when his words fell on her ears.
