I am training

Mondays are, the worst days every week, when you wake up in the morning and realize that you have work, you have school, and all the typical shit that makes life less enjoyable. But this particular Monday I was trying to do something I have never done before: pretend I am absolutely fine yet am freaking out.

Let me take you a  bit back on how my weekend was, so I told you about my Saturday morning, My half-monster teacher, and the biggest reveal of my classmate and Nancy, of course, I can't call her a classmate. We are not in the same class at all. Turns out they were magical creatures in disguise. I know you are not surprised, but I was pretty much surprised, so surprised that I wanted to scream.

Miss Eloise's real name was Eloferie Alucard and she works for the royal family of a supernatural community hidden in the ground. She explained to me who Sandra Drake was, she was the most powerful member of the royal family and leader of the council of royal progenitors who rule the supernatural. She had disappeared three years ago with two of her most trusted friends, Nancy and Ned in search of the reason why magic chose to appear in the world of humans.

Miss Eloise, was sent to escort her back to the community, but things went wrong when she discovered that her majesty had changed her identity along with her name, making it harder for her to find Sandra. Well, until the day a minotaur attacked the two of us and ended up killing me in the process.

After that, her body disappeared when she cursed me into a fey and transferred all her royal powers to me, so to make it clear. I was the most powerful human in existence, that's if am even going to remain human.

Now, this is where the bad part came in, Sandra had enemies almost everywhere. Some called her an unworthy queen, some were her own family and some wanted her power, those were the ones I had to be worried about. An order of Dark Fey called The Dark blood. They were narcissistic Fey that believed that the world belonged to the fey and that humans are impostors to nature, they also believed in something called the demon lord, a being powerful enough to lead them along with their exact purpose of winning the world of humans,  which was technically the surface.

Crazy right?

All of that is being squeezed into the head of a sixteen-year-old kid who just wants to be happy.

She suggested I needed to learn how to defend myself using the power Sandra had passed on to me and that Ned and Nancy would help me get a hang of my powers as a fey before the fey community sends its people to search for the queen's successor and will be a bloodbath when they find out she had chosen a human.

And now am here in class, waiting for my dark arts professor to put my F on my desk. He was handing out the test papers we had conducted last week, we had tests all week so yes he was handing out all the papers each with a score that contributes to your points in this class.

The professor's name was Mr. Klaus, a shabby, short Asian man, who dressed as if he lived in a time machine that could only travel to the seventies. He had a brown coat that he wore almost every day, for purposes, I don't want to know about, but it was hilarious seeing him pull up to class in bell-bottoms, giving off a seventies vibe.

He walked up to my desk, "Ralph Tally," he gave me a unique eye and then turned to my paper like he couldn't believe that I am the one who did the test.

"Yes. . .sir,"

"Congratulations," he said, then gently placed all my five test papers each with a perfect score between A plus and B. I couldn't believe it.

I was still joying over my results until I got a glimpse of Ned's perfect As and that killed all my excitement. His scores were to remind me that am not special, but rather just an academic hustler.

The rest of the day moved swiftly, god I wish this is how they all were. Until the final bell at four rang and ended the day's classes, that bell also meant it was time for me to go to Stryker and son's; an abandoned junkyard downtown where I was supposed to train with Ned and Nancy. They suggested there because a few people dared to even go there, so it was the perfect place for my training.

I took the bus to reach downtown and the rest was up to the maps app I had on my phone to show me the way, which was a bad idea because it took me an hour to find the junkyard. It was next to an old railway station that seemed abandoned too, in fact, the whole place looked like no man's land. I see why they picked this place.

I walked towards the entrance to the junkyard which was an old rusty black colored gate, I walked in.

Finally, you here," Nancy was the first one to speak after she saw me. She didn't sound excited though or pissed because I was late. She was in her original form, with tree branch horns, green-colored eyes and something to her look a stick in her hand, my best guess a magic staff.

Ned on the other hand. didn't look calm at all, he was furious.

"You were supposed to be here an hour ago," he shouted at me,

I got lost," I said

"Lost?!" he was now even louder, "you could have asked to come with us," he said

"Well, I didn't know that was an option sir,"

Ned sighed and cooled down his nerves, "Fine, let's begin." he said, then changed into his original form.

I put down my school bag.

As Ned stepped back and shortened his shirt's sleeves.

"Magic is vast," he said. "But Fey magic…" he created a fireball in his right hand without casting the spell.

"Is phenomenal," he continued with a smirk on his face. His bracelet started to beep to show he was using advanced magic. But that didn't seem to stop him.

"It can be changed and altered," he changed the fireball into a burning sword.

My mouth dropped from what I was looking at, humans believed magic can't be altered unless you are more gifted, and the government had set up test areas around the world. To find those gifted fellows and my parents were tested as one of the gifted among the new humans. That's how they even acquired their parliament positions.

I wasn't special like them, powerful, but not as special as them.

Ned extinguished the flame and then told me to try and do what he had just done he mentioned that the key to this type of magic is forgetting the purpose of casting and concentrating on what I want to create.

Performing a spell without the need for casting, I thought, this was going to be tough.

Nancy was just staring at me while chewing down Mentos, I could tell from the wrapper she had in her hand.

I sighed, then faced Ned, who was giving me the 'if you don't do this now I will you' kind of look.

I closed my eyes, then cleared my mind. "Fire" I commanded, then opened. My fingers then began to spark with tiny bolts of yellow-colored electricity. I mumbled with a worried look, "Um…what is this?" I asked Ned,

Ned looked and his face froze, meaning this was not good. He jumped out of the way,

"I said fire," he yelled protecting his face.

My palm then shot out a yellow-colored lightning bolt that flew upwards and disappeared into the blue sky. Followed by the violent and loud roar of thunder.

That was scary, I thought

Nancy then walked up to us laughing at me and Ned, "You forgot that his too powerful to start with advanced fire spells," she was telling Ned.

I was still in shock at what had just occurred.

She faced me.

"What you need is the basics of spell casting, but using the Fey methods of spell casting," she said to me.

After saying that she moved a few inches away from me, then tapped her staff on the dirt-filled ground, the ground started to move and from underneath green vines grew that carried two apples.

One red, the other black.

The vines stopped in front of me. I didn't know what to do, eat them?

"Magic was born before humans even came to this world, with magic our kind was born. These two apples contain what our people were born from pure magic," she looked at the apples, "whether it's darkness," she pointed at the black apple, "or light." she pointed to the red apple.

"You must understand that we Fey," she looked directly into my eyes." Are magic itself," she said

And with that my entire body shifted and I took on the form of an elf with longer hair, whiter skin, and sharper ears.
