It was an odd sensation.

The feeling of the cursed candy sliding down his throat.

It was slick and fast.

Almost as if jumping into his stomach.

The taste was visceral. Euphoric death reeked in his shaky breath after he swallowed it.

His eyes cleared as he blinked away the tears. Lemon backed away, allowing Lilo to compose himself.

It took several breaths to register what had happened.

He ate it.

Nerves crept into his heart as his mind raced on what would happen next.

He looked behind him at Lemon.

She had left the safety of the van to help her choking friend but now Lilo was about to experience a potential shift in either becoming a verge timber or a full blown glutton.

He panicked and rushed her towards the van without a second thought.

She resisted at first but soon caught on why he was so desperate to her into the safety of the van.
