The Malevolent Desires of a Power-Hungry Heart

After Madam Chi got up from her sleep and freshened herself, Zhang Wei approached her with a sense of urgency. He needed to find an immortal technique in the Long family that could protect his memory, no matter what. If the family didn't have it, he instructed Madam Chi to ask her grandfather for it.

As they were leaving, Madam Chi's third sister bid her family farewell as she and her husband were leaving, but their son Prince Chang would stay behind in the Long family. But then her grandfather remembered that he had obtained a remnant technique from an ancient ruin during his travels. It was of unknown rank and mostly incomplete, but if cultivated, it could do similar things as the technique Madam Chi was looking for. He cautioned her that he had tested the technique on some slaves, and they had all gone insane.

Madam Chi's eyes shone at the thought of having a technique that could help Zhang Wei protect his memory. But when her grandfather mentioned the dangers of the technique, her excitement dimmed. Still, she asked her grandfather to give her the technique, saying it was better than nothing.

Her grandfather agreed to give her the technique but warned her that it should only be used as a last resort.

Madam Chi left her grandfather's study with the remnant technique in hand. She made her way back to her room, where Zhang Wei was waiting anxiously. She told him everything her grandfather had said about the technique and the risks involved. Finally, she handed him the technique, and Zhang Wei took it eagerly.

Although Zhang Wei was disappointed that the technique was incomplete, he knew that this only proved how precious soul-type immortal techniques were. He began to study the technique attentively, seeing that the middle part of it was complete. This part couldn't protect the memory, but it could transfer memories from one person's soul to another. Hearing this, Zhang Wei first felt shock, then anger in his heart. Sacrificing human lives for a pill was outrageous, and he couldn't believe that a deity would approve of it. But he controlled his emotions and asked again, "How many people are they going to give to the demon?"

Madam Chi replied, "10 billion."

Zhang Wei was astounded. Ten billion people was not a small amount, and he couldn't believe that everyone in the immortal world would agree to this. But Madam Chi assured him that it was the direct order of a deity.

As he listened to her words, Zhang Wei felt anger rush to his head.
