I was so surprised that I couldn't help but gasp, and I quickly covered my mouth with my hand. My hands started shaking as I tried to comprehend what had just happened. Who could be so cruel as to gouge out her eyes?

But as soon as I heard the sound of my keys, the woman turned away into the darkness, and I never saw her face again. I wondered how this had all come to pass.

Feeling pressed for time, I followed her instructions and opened my cell door. I began to run through the depths of the dungeon, even though it was pitch dark. The candlelight only illuminated a small portion of the area, so I had to rely on my sense of touch in the darkness.

I bent down, knelt on the ground, and started hitting every brick. Suddenly, one of them felt different, as if it could move. I pushed it with excitement, and it made a dull sound. With determination, I continued to push until I managed to open a gap in the slab.
