Prologue

You know all those home education or science books that tells us that puberty starts when you're a teenager, let's say 13? Well, I don't know about you guys but I think my own puberty set in when I was six. The day I first met him, Hunter Woods. My very own prince charming. Maybe not prince charming, but I was young can you blame me?

I was sitting on one of those wooden benches in the park crying because I was bullied by some of my mates that didn't want to play with me. My dad left my mum when I was 3 and the kids used that against me, saying that I was unlucky because my dad didn't want me, sad story that one. I'm not gonna go into all the deets.

Anyway, so here I was sitting on the bench watching all the dad's playing with their kids and buying them ice cream and wishing I could have the same experience and probably some ice cream too, when this really cute bo..... oh my god! I think I'm blushing again.

Girl, get your shit together! You have to tell this story right!

Yeah! So this really cute guy walked up to me with a frown on his face and a double scooped ice cream cone on his hand.

"Do you like chocolates?" He asked me and I gave him this confused look because I was sad and some dude came to ask me about chocolate. At first I thought it was going to be all these weird pranks we played at school that they'll ask you if you like something and if you said yes, they'll say you should marry it and I was sure as hell not gonna marry a chocolate bar, maybe go Diego go! But definitely not chocolate.

I didn't want to risk my chances of having a friend, so I nodded, then he sat next to me with a wide smile on his face. I can remember that smile like it happened yesterday, his eyes lit up like a glow stick in the dark, it bloomed like the late blossoms of the season and it was so beautiful I could compare him to a summer day.

What am I Shakespeare now?

Anywayyyy, he gave a cute pout and said, "Sally knows I do not like chocolate, but she bought me chocolate and vanilla scoop. See?" He pointed to the chocolate on top of the vanilla and I nodded once again, "wanna share?" He shoved the ice cream to my face.

I know the 'you do not receive things from stranger rule' , but there was something about him and his smile that made me comfortable, so I gave him a shy smile. I was craving for some ice cream anyway. Funny thing, he had a spoon in his pocket and handed it to me.

"Girls have cooties." He explained when I gave him a confused look. He scrunched up his nose in disgust and I frowned,

"Boys have cooties too." I defended.

"I'm not a boy." He smiled mischievously and I raised an eyebrow, because if I wasn't wrong he was wearing these dungarees farmer's wore in the 80's and a polo shirt with some sneakers and his hair cut resembled that of a boy, so he's gotta be a boy. "I'm a vampire!" He announced cheerfully and I laughed.

"Then I'm a fairy." I told him with a smile.

He looked behind me and said, "but you don't have wings."

"They are invincible."I whispered and he gasped looking surprised.

After telling each other our secret identity, we talked while I ate the chocolate part of the ice cream before he licked the vanilla part. Then we went to the field to play with the other kids, before our parents came to pick us up.

Since it was still summer break we always met each other at the park and we would play till the sun goes down, because of this we became fast friends. That's right! He even called me his girl bestfriend. He said Dovey was his boy bestfriend, it's a dog. Don't ask me how he came about that name, I do not know what goes on in a six year old boy's mind.

Anyway, summer break was over quicker than we expected and we had to go back to our schools. The sad thing is that we attended different schools, so it was hard to see each other and the next time we did see each other we were already older. It was the first day of high school.

I remember him walking down the hallway with some dude, I recognized him pronto! He looked so hot and cool that I couldn't help but feel giddy with excitement.

Being the dork I was and not thinking that he could have forgotten who I was, I called his name in the middle of the hallway and when he turned around he gave me this weird look like he was embarrassed before turning back and continued his journey down the hallway with his friend.

But that didn't stop my crush on him, I mean how could I when my heart won't stop beating everytime I see him. Even though he's all grown up and different now, he's still the guy who used to give me warm hugs when everytime I felt sad or stroke my cheeks when I fell down from the swing. Those were the times I had raging hormones and that was when I started crushing on Hunter Woods.
