CHAPTER 78: THE MEET UP 8

      BLESSING POV

"Calm down! Hahaha! They are stupid. We have already lost them! Look there!" The taxi driver said pointing at the side mirror.

I gazed in the direction happily like a little girl who had been gifted a box of chocolate.

"Wow! Really? Am I safe now?" I  beamed blissfully.

"Yes! They are following the other taxi instead of ours! Hahaha! They thought they are closer while in real sense, they are following the wrong taxi! You are very clever ma'am" The driver complimented me.

"Thank you, sir! But you don't have to call me ma'am! Just call me Blessing! Yeah, Blessing" I said while smiling at him as he nodded.

I felt good that I was able to save this man but the question that was haunting me was where would I get the money to pay at the hospital? I didn't know him nor anybody related to him but I felt peace each time I gazed at his unconscious face.

I knew he was still alive because earlier, I was able to feel his heartbeat. 

Even though it was very low, it was better than none.

Now if I thought about it, where would I get the money to pay the driver? I had already given him enough stress today. I couldn't add more problems by not giving him anything.

"Are we closer to the hospital? Just any hospital, okay?" I asked again. 

"Yes, ma'am ooh! Sorry Blessing!" He said while turning around as if he wanted to park the taxi.

I felt happy that I had boarded a taxi because since I was born, I had never boarded one. 

I could remember travelling using a bus to and from my boarding school but now I had to travel on it by trying to save a stranger!

I sighed heavily as I gazed at the man.

Suddenly, a malicious thought came over my mind and I put my right hand in his pocket.

I searched for a jiffy and then I was able to touch something big.

I put off my hand with the object on it only to see a beautiful digital phone.

"Wow!" I voiced my thoughts loudly that the driver looked at me and I gazed at the other side all coy.

"We are here now Blessing" He brought me back from my thoughts and I gazed at him, "please help me take him inside the hospital!" I exclaimed as I took the phone and put it in my armpit. 

After some minutes, we were able to put him in the hospital.

The doctors and nurses rushed and took him to an emergency room.

I felt a tingle of pain in my heart as I remember that I should also be a medical student by now. Tears of pain cascaded down my cheeks and I had to wipe them quickly.

"Blessing! I need to go now! My payment?" The driver said making me gaze at the ground shyly.

What was I supposed to give him? Then I remembered the phone and  I took it from my armpit and stretched it towards him.

"Are you serious? How can you pay me with this expensive phone of your husband?" He exclaimed in shock as he gazed at my confused face.

"I am sorry but I was attacked so I didn't take any coin with me. This is the only thing that I have" I answered then something  popped up in my mind, "By the way, who told you that it belongs to my husband?"

"I am sorry but I saw you taking it in his back pocket, earlier," He said making me bow harder in embarrassment.
