Chapter 41

The four fabulous figures fiddled for four fucking minutes.

Then they decided to fuck off with the alliteration and move on with there day!

The four walked through the woods to look for firewood.

Syl was constantly telling them the wood they found was bad and teaching them the right types of wood to use for fires while coaching them on what was good for the environment.

Eventually Sakura got sick of Syl's constant nagging and walked further ahead so she was out of earshot.

Syl didn't even realize as he was so focused on his story about the history of birch trees.

Eventually Yamauchi cut him off. "Syl, can I say something?"

Syl sighed. "Alright, but you're gonna miss out on the history of birch trees throughout the industrial period. That was my favourite part. So many exciting plot twists!!"

Yamauchi nodded. "I don't think I'll ever regret missing out, but thanks anyway."

Syl sighed. Nobody here appreciated his survival skills and knowledge! They just complained!

"Fine, next time you need help in this forest, don't even bother asking me!" Syl huffed.

Yamauchi looked around like he was scared of someone hearing him. "Guys, I think I'm gonna confess to Sakura."

Syl sighed. "Hey man, if you two like each other then have fun."

"Didn't you like Kushida?" Ayanokoji asked.

Syl made a gagging face behind Yamauchi's back.

Yamauchi turned to face Syl when he heard something but only saw Syl with a huge smile on his face.

He figured he heard wrong and continued talking. "Well, like, I kinda do, but I think I realized… you know?"

"Realized what?" Ayanokoji asked.

Yamauchi sighed. "She's out of my league."

Syl gasped. "No way! You're out of her league! Yamagod is unmatched! That damn angel is unworthy of you!"

Yamauchi smiled. "Thanks Syl."

Little did he know Syl was telling the truth.

Although it wasn't because he thought highly of Yamauchi, he just hated Kushida that much!!

What a bitch!

Yamauchi continued on. "I thought if it was someone like Sakura… you know?"

Syl sighed. "Honestly, I don't like the sound of that. Listen Yamagod, if you like Sakura, then I wish you the best, but if you're thinking something like 'she's good enough' or 'maybe I have a chance because it's her' I'd advise you to stop."

Yamauchi gasped. "I would never say that!"

Syl chuckled. "Then what were you thinking?"

"I was just… you know… it was that… like basically… so what I mean to say is… fine! Maybe you're right! But so what?! She never talks to anyone and has no friends! But she's pretty cute! I just never noticed her before she took off her glasses!" Yamauchi replied.

Syl sighed deeply. "That's a dangerous way of thinking, plus, it never works out in the long run."

Yamauchi scoffed. "You just wouldn't get it! You have girls all over you just cause you're a little good looking! You're just lucky!"

He snorted and walked off, trying to catch up to Sakura and make small talk.

Syl shook his head. "What an idiot."

Ayanokoji looked at Syl. "Is this okay? I thought you and Yamauchi were close?"

Syl shrugged. "Can you keep a secret?"

Ayanokoji nodded.

"I can't say I love the guy. I mean he's not horrible, but I don't really like the whole pervert act he and Ike put up, Sudo as well sometimes. Only Sudo and Ike have redeeming qualities, Yamauchi doesn't. I only hang out with him when Sudo and Ike are around because they like him." Syl replied honestly.

"So you aren't friends with him?" Ayanokoji questioned.

Syl nodded. "Not really, though he probably thinks we are. I just don't like the way he thinks, just like right now, I think that's an awful thing to do. If Sakura didn't already have a crush on you he might really succeed in making her his prey because she's vulnerable. I find the thought of that disgusting, if I wasn't certain he would get rejected, I'd stop it."

"You lied to him about being friends?" Ayanokoji asked.

Syl nodded.

"Do you do that often?"

Syl shrugged. "Only when needed. It's a social thing, if someone wants to think they are your friend, you're a worse person for telling them they aren't your friend then just not saying anything. I don't lie about it, I just never tell the truth either, I guess you would call it a lie of omission."

"Did you lie about us being friends?" Ayanokoji asked emotionlessly.

Syl chuckled. "50-50."

"What does that mean?"

Syl shrugged. "Am I your friend?"

"I believe we are." Ayanokoji replied.

Syl chuckled. "It's amazing how easily you can lie."

Ayanokoji looked away.

Syl continued on. "I do want to be friends. But it's impossible when you don't consider me your friend. Maybe one day you'll come to see me as a friend. But for now, I'm content with this."

Ayanokoji looked back at Syl. "Then what do you think we are?"

Syl shrugged. "You're someone I trust and want to get closer too."

Ayanokoji nodded. "You're someone I trust too. I would also like to get closer to you."

Syl laughed. "Hahaha! You really are amazing at lying."

Ayanokoji didn't say anything else.

'He really is good at reading people.' Ayanokoji thought.

'However he is wrong about one thing, I do really want to get closer to him, perhaps he could teach me what friendship is.'

Syl smiled. "I'll only become your friend if you really want me too, I won't be a test subject."

He walked away.

'Nevermind, he has completely seen through me.' Ayanokoji lamented in his head.

'Is making friends supposed to be this hard?'

"No, it's not!" Syl called back.

Ayanokoji sighed. "It's like he can read my mind."
