Chapter １２

It was getting close to lunchtime, and Angel was nowhere to be found. Everyone began chatting.

"The working environment at the company, according to what I've heard, has significantly improved under Calvin's leadership in recent months. Possibly because we were not too lazy, so he kept the atmosphere particularly good. "

Calvin was admired by everyone for his attractive appearance and exceptional ability. "I just happened to notice Smith walking into our staff canteen!"

Andie rushed into the office, and the ladies inside the office were equally excited. "Please hurry up. Let's get something to eat! "

Andie brought me to the restaurant.

"Alexia!" When I turned around, it was Jack, who was holding a large bouquet of roses in his arms. I was surprised.

"Wow!" Anni exclaimed. It was lunchtime. There were a large number of people at the restaurant's entrance when I arrived. I was very taken with the large bouquet of roses that Jack had delivered. A lot of people turned their heads to look at me.

I walked to see Jack. "Didn't you say you were on a business trip today?"

"I didn't go." 

Jack handed me the flowers and smiled. "I didn't tell you because I was planning to surprise you."

I looked at the rose. But honestly, I was a little unhappy, but I still took it. "It was a pleasant surprise. By the way, how do you know I was here? "

"Isn't it time for lunch? I guessed you might be here. I'm here on business today. Your company and our office have cooperated. In the future, maybe we will meet frequently. "

Jack smiled.

"So, have you eaten yet?" I asked.

"No, not yet." Jack fixed his gaze on me. His stare was so intense that I shivered.

"Then let's go out to eat somewhere. It's my treat. "

I looked back at the staff restaurant since I felt that someone was staring at me constantly.

"No, I've heard that the staff restaurant at your company is excellent. So why not take me there for lunch today? " Jack made a proposal.

Our company, on the other hand, did not allow outsiders to eat in the restaurant. So, I still proposed taking him out to eat. He seemed a little depressed.

Just as we were leaving, we suddenly heard someone's voice.

"Jack Williams!"

I turned around. It was Warren!

"Hello, I'm the assistant to the president. I heard that you are a lawyer who is about to cooperate with our company. Why not have a meal together? " Warren smiled and shook hands with Jack.

When Jack heard his proposal, he broke into a smile. When I walked into the restaurant, I noticed that there were a lot of people working there today.

Was it because Calvin was here? Calvin sat in the middle of the cafeteria, dining with several other executives. Everyone's eyes were stuck on them.

"Mr. William, our president, has invited you to have dinner together. Let's go. " Warren's words shocked me. I didn't want to eat with them. I just saw Andie smiling at me.

"Well then, Andie and I will have a meal together." But just when I was about to escape, Jack took my hand and walked towards Calvin.

When I arrived in front of them, I broke away from Jack's hand. I felt Calvin's eyes seemed to burn on me.

Jack wanted to shake hands with Calvin, but Calvin totally overlooked his hand and nodded coldly. Jack retracted his hand awkwardly.

"The flowers are beautiful." Calvin stared at the flowers in my hand.

"Yeah, I also think this rose is particularly suitable for Alexia." Jack intimately reached his hands out to me again, but I avoided it.

"Oh, it's a flower, and it's a thing of beauty. And you should be pleased with yourself. " Calvin's subordinates began flattering Jack in order to make Calvin happy, but they were unaware that what they were saying was making Smith even angrier.

"You seem to really like this lawyer. All this time, you've been holding those flowers in your hands. " Suddenly, Calvin's voice had become somewhat hoarse, which left me somewhat confused.

What am I supposed to say? Should I tell him that I had a thing for Jack? These flowers were absolutely stunning, but wouldn't everyone be misled by their looks? Jack was just a normal friend. Everything was going wrong. So, I'd better shut up.

"It's romantic when young people fall in love." Calvin was struck by their words once more. "I'm full, so I'm leaving right away."

Calvin turned to walk away from the chair with a cold kick to the floor. His departure created an awkward atmosphere, and Jack became a little fidgety as a result. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No, no, no. Let's get something to eat. " Warren smiled as he looked at Smith's vanishing figure in the distance.

When I saw Jack's smile, I felt a little uncomfortable. My affection for him seemed to disappear. When I finally realized why he wanted to come to our restaurant for lunch, it made sense. If we had been in a relationship, I wouldn't have objected to him joining me for dinner here. However, the reality was that we had only recently met, and he became increasingly frantic to keep me occupied. I was extremely disgusted.

"Come to my office and throw away the flowers. It's ugly. " It was Calvin's call. I wasn't happy after this meal. So, I left with an excuse.

But Jack also wanted to follow me. Fortunately, Warren forced Jack to stay and continue eating. I gave the flowers to Andie.

When I arrived at Calvin's office, I didn't see him. Was he playing me? I turned around ready to leave, but I ran into Calvin's arms.

"Did you like that flower?" He was standing so close to me. The atmosphere between us became ambiguous again.

"I don't like it!" I tried to push him away but failed. "Then I will send you flowers later." He leaned close to me again. Did he want to kiss me again? I turned my head.

"Are you shy?"

"Why are you always looking for me?! Can't I apologize to you? " I couldn't stand his charm.

"No!" Calvin refused, forcing me to turn my face toward him.

"Hey!" I became nervous again and warned him, "You, you, stay away from me, or I will be rude to you!"

"How can you be rude to me?" Calvin smiled.

"Are you going to bite me again?"

"If you dare to kiss, I dare to bite!" I was enraged and unsure of what I was saying.

Who knew that as soon as I finished speaking, my mouth was blocked again? Calvin grabbed my cheeks and forcefully kissed me! My eyes widened at this. My hands suddenly went to his shirt, trying to push him away, but he didn't move. Instead, he grabbed my wrists as well as held them there, preventing me from struggling any further. His lips brushed against my mouth so intimately that I felt my heart jumping in my chest like a rabbit. My limbs began to give way gradually, making me feel completely vulnerable in front of him.

"Shut up! I don't care how you know it, but please don't inquire about my privacy in the future! " I stared at him angrily, and the pleasant atmosphere just disappeared.

"Why did you react so badly when I mentioned this person? This man had hurt you before, hadn't he? " He leaned toward me, like a demon.

"Stop talking!" I almost screamed.

Calvin saw that I had collapsed and stopped talking and squinted his eyes.

"You are so rich, and many women like you. Why me? Is it because I am not obsessed with you like other women? Did I hurt your noble male self-esteem? " I yelled.

"Why don't you believe me?" Calvin straightened up and walked towards me.

"Believe what? Do you love me? " I sneered.

"I'm no longer a little dreaming girl. I would never believe in love at first sight! Besides, that lawyer can marry me, but what about you? You just want to find someone for a one-night stand? "

"Do you want to get married?" Calvin didn't seem to expect my reply.

"Of course, I want to get married. If you don't have a plan, don't mess with me! " I yelled.

As soon as my voice fell, the phone in my pocket rang and it was Jack.

"Hello?" I ignored Calvin and connected the phone. The office was quiet. Calvin could hear Jack Williams asking where I was.

"Are you free tonight? Can we watch a movie together after dinner? " Jack asked. Although I didn't want to see Jack again, I still agreed.

"Okay." Then I saw Calvin's knuckles appeared again, and I remembered that I had just refused his date invitation, but now I promised another man. So what? I didn't want to have anything to do with Calvin, and I should have rejected him. I guess he would be angry, but he didn't speak until I hung up the phone, until I turned around to leave.

"Are you planning on going on a date with him?" I feigned that I didn't hear him, but his tone was weird, and unconsciously I turned back.

"Look in the mirror."

I frowned, not understanding why he was doing this, but I still walked to the mirror suspiciously... "Ah!" I turned around and screamed, my face flushed.

I immediately sent a message to Andie.
