I feel like the time just flew by as I turn down one-way streets and into the Key Largo, the first Key of the Florida Keys. The sleepy beach town lies dormant as we drive down darkened streets towards Dolfin. I remember Zelia raving about this place when we were about to graduate college. From what she told me it sounds like a paradise. But paradise also means more than just two friends hanging out.
A fountain of stone dolphins sits illuminated at the entrance I pull into the cobblestone roundabout of Dolfin. I step out into the salty air and make my way around the car to meet Allie, offering my arm. “Shall we check-in, my lady?”
She weaves her arm through mine with a smile. “Lead the way, my good sir.”
My heart soars as we walk into the lobby holding back our snickers. Just like old times. I lead Allie across the swirling carpet towards the front desk, a man and woman smiling as we approach them.
