A Crush?

After recalling the past, Archer walked into the building. The living room was empty, and so was the dining room. He went straight into the kitchen, and to the store room to pick up the sweeping brush to kick off his work.

"Hey Archer" A voice came from ahead of him. He lifted his gaze, and his eyes met Emily's. She was his boss' youngest child and only daughter, and most friendly to him than the other siblings.

"Hi, Emily" he replied.

The girl walked to the refrigerator and picked up stuff to eat. She walked back to the counter table with a pack of corn flakes and a pack of milk. She placed the edibles on the table, and drew a chair out and sat. Her eyes turned to Archer who was completely engrossed in his work.

"You care for some flakes?" she asked as she scooped a spoon of the already-made flakes from the ceramic plate.

"No, thank you" he said with a small smile and continued with his cleaning process.

She faced her plate of food for about a minute, and in the next she was watching Archer again. She chewed hard at the crunchy flakes, but he seemed not to notice her presence there, or he just decided to ignore it.

She scrapped the plate with the spoon, causing the sound, and still, Archer didn't spare her a glance.

Then, she dropped the plate, and it broke to pieces. Finally, Archer looked her direction, and quickly walked to her.

"Are you okay?" He asked as he moved her away from the broken pieces on the floor.

"I'm okay" She answered, adjusting her hair.

Archer went back to pick his brush, and then he swept the pieces together.

"Just sit for a while" he said as he pulled out another chair for her to climb on. She sat, feeling fulfilled.

"Hey, Archer" A voice came from the entrance. It was Emily's elder brother, Dylan.

"Good morning Master Dylan" Archer said with a small smile.

"I've told you not to call me Master, just call me Dylan." Dylan said with a smile, and Archer nodded.

"You good?" Dylan questioned.

"Yes, thank you" Archer replied.

Dylan walked to the refrigerator and picked up a pack of crackers biscuits and yoghurt drink. He was about leaving the kitchen when he caught sight of Emily staring at Archer.

"Emily" Dylan called, but she didn't reply.

"E...mi...ly..." He repeated amusement evident in his voice. It was then she realized she was being called, and turned to her brother.

"Oh... Dylan" She mouthed

"Can you come out, Archer is still busy"

"But I'm still having breakfast" She said, twitching her face in

dissatisfaction.

"Out..." He insisted with a smirk, and she obliged. She stole one quick glance at Archer before she exited the kitchen.
