Chapter 3 - Level Up

The combat assist system is a system of the game that helps the players with a lot of things, and one of the things it does to help the players is to relieve them in doing difficult actions.

It is a great system for players who are still not familiar with the game. However, as much as its pros it also has its cons, which is, one of those is that, the combat assist system does not go beyond its limit.

After Yoshi had sliced the dummy in half, a lot of players gathered around him.

"How did you do that?"

"Can you tell us the secret?"

"I never thought the dummy could be cut in half like that!"

A lot of people had gathered around him and one of those is Lynch. But unlike the other players who was only interested in knowing how he had cut the dummy in half. Lynch was only there to praise Yoshi and to begin with he was appointed next to the dummy of Yoshi and got swayed by the crowd.

"Back to your positions!" Yelled loudly by the old man.

By the intimidating and scary voice of the old man, the players quickly scattered and went back to their dummies.

"You! Tell me your name?" He pointed to Yoshi.

"Yoshi sir." I replied.

"Yoshi, you have a talent for swords." He praised Yoshi, "You pass and your friend over here also." He said while he also pointed at Lynch

As he said those words a notification appeared.

[Quest - Training Ground Completed

And another notification appeared. And his body shined brightly and energy surged onto Yoshi's body.

Yoshi had just thought of opening his Status. He thought of the word and said it aloud "Status."

A panel appeared.

As he read the panel, there he saw the SP which can be allocated to the statuses but as he still doesn't have any class he thought to just save it for now and use it when the time is right. He then closed the window.

"Here you go." The old man handed out a short sword.

I thought he only wanted me to pick it up and help him place it but then a notification appeared.

[You acquired short sword]

[Short sword

"Is this mine!?" I asked with a confused look.

He only nodded and he walked away.

Lynch approached me and said, "You're amazing Yoshi. Aside from cutting the dummy in half, you also received a personal gift from the trainer." He sounded delighted, "By the way, have you received another quest? I had received mine earlier."

"Ohh yeah, let me check." I replied.

[Quest - Defeat One-horned Rabbit

It may be a cute looking monster but this small creature can surely pierce you with its sharp horn. It may be the weakest monster out there in the field but be careful when you encounter a herd of them.

After reading the contents of the quest I replied to Lynch, "I also had received it. Do you want to hunt wild rabbits together?"

"Sure." Lynch responded happily.

From the training ground to the field is quite a long walk. The training ground is located almost at the center of the village which is close to the place where the players were first teleported to after creating their characters.

Same as the training ground, the field was crowded with people who were hunting for one-horned rabbits.

"Although the spawn rate is quick because of how populated the place is, it would just take seconds for a person to attack it and some people even opted to Kill Stealing." Lynch stated

"Kill Stealing is an act of stealing a kill when it was already targeted by a player first." He continued.

"Kill Stealing, that's quite a great and harsh concept." I murmured

"Fortunately, this map is still a yellow zone. So, Player Killing is still not allowed. If this was a red zone, instead of Kill Stealing, a massacre would have happened." Lynch said

In Second Life Online. There are three color zones which are green, yellow, and red.

The green zone indicates safe places, where kill stealing and PK aren't allowed.

Yellow zones are places where killing monsters happen. These are mostly fields, and even dungeons.

And lastly is the red zone, a place of the map which has a red color in it is a dangerous area.

As the place is very crowded we both had decided to walk further and to look out for a place that is not that quite crowded with people. And before arriving at the place, we had a small chat with each other.

"You're very knowledgeable about this game." I said to Lynch.

Energetic replied by Lynch with a spark in his eyes, "That's because I'm a big fan of Ren Blakely.

"Eh!?"

"And I also want to be like him in the future. To achieve that big dream of mine I had to know everything about him and that includes studying the game he makes. That is why I am here playing the game."

Hearing what he just said, I just awkwardly laughed it off.

After quite a while of walking, we had finally found the perfect place to hunt the one-horned rabbits. Although there were still people around the place it was only countable by the hands. So we decided to hunt in this part of the field.

We brought out our swords in our own inventories and we had unsheathed it.
