Ch 24 Chidoriyama Part 2

The captain of the Chidoriyama Junior High school cleanly showcased his skills and stood out over the rest of his team mates. Starting off the game with his serve, he quickly moved forward and got into position.

The current lineup for Kitagawa Daiichi Junior High School was Iwaizumi Hajime at Power, Big B at Middle and Oikawa Toru at Setter for the upper rotation. The lower rotation consisted of a trio of 2nd year players, players A, B and C, they were once rookies that stood out and earned playing time with their level of playing ability.

Daniel Dort was placed on the second rotation, alongside Kageyama Tobio and Yutaro Kindaichi. However, Akira Kunimi just fell short of coming off the bench. It seems it was during this time of his career, that he had begun his lazy tendencies. Quite similar to Kenma Kozume. Interestingly, some people are quite the hidden geniuses. Being able to reach that level, without putting in as much work speaks volumes of their talent.Maybe they needed to get nerfed in some form of way.

The serve was promptly received by player A, although he had issues sending it smoothly to Oikawa Toru. The off-target pass, however, posed no issues for the setter as he promptly smashed it down much to the ire of the Chidoriyama team. The setter dump earned the Kitagawa Daiichi team their first point.

The point had set off numerous reactions within both teams. Especially the Power of the Chidoriyama team. He had relaxed the tension in his legs, thinking of the overarching pass forcing Oikawa Toru to have to compensate for the set. After coming to that conclusion, he was promptly served a kill right above his head.

He had underestimated the level of confidence the setter possessed and had paid for it.

The next rallies quickly pointed out the difference in the two teams. While Kitagawa Daiichi possessed an all around and offense focused team, the Chidoriyama were average in their scoring ability but their defense quickly proved to be their main weapon. The playstyle of the Chidoriyama Junior High was solid and covered holes in their defense spontaneously. Therefore, while they had great stops, they were unable to convert into points after counter attacking against the Kitagawa Daiichi team.

Daniel PoV

'It looks like Nishinoya Yu did go to Chidoriyama. Very surprising detail is, it appears he is already approaching his high school height. But on a serious note, we might be beating them but against another team, they would definitely fulfill their role as a powerhouse. Nonetheless, this practice match has to be the result of the coach's game plan to understand how to develop the team even further and maybe even incorporate some of our school's attacking methods.'

Third Person PoV

Meanwhile, as the game went on, points and sets were stacking up in favor of Kitagawa Daiichi, the coach made the decision to switch up the current rotation of players and present the opportunity of experiencing playing with junior high level competition to the first years.

BEEP*

With the set to Iwaizuimi Hajime from Oikawa Toru, a point was counted for Kitagawa Daiichi. Thus, it commenced the first years' rotation onto the court. Slowly but surely, the first years, Daniel Dort, Kageyema Tobio and Yutaro Kindaichi made their way in. With only Iwaizumi Hajime, Big B and Oikawa Toru on the court, a noticeable shift in the playing style of Kitagawa Daiichi ensued. With Yutato Kindaichi on the court, the amount of blocks began to make their prescence known, incorporated after moving Big B behind the line. Soon the players from Chidoriyama and Kitagawa Daiichi understood what each of their teams lacked as a whole, to stand a fighting chance against other powerhouses. They needed weapons, they could call their own.

Several minutes later,

Without much verbal communication, the coaches from both teams tacitly agreed to the conclusion of the practice match. Suddenly, a switch of positions between Daniel Dort at the back court and Oikawa Toru at setter happened. Oikawa Toru, receiving the serve from Chidoriyama's server, using the momentum from the ball to set up a runway. The ball floated in the air, approaching Daniel Dort's proximity.

With this series of events, the Kitagawa Daiichi coach scrunched his eyebrows in displeasure. Daniel Dort moved under the ball, allowing it to rest on his fingers for a second, setting it up for a back attack for Oikawa Toru. Oikawa quickly moved through his approach, jumped off the ground and hit the ball against the wall that was quickly formed by Chidoriyama's blockers. The ball bounced off their hands and approached the sidelines.

The libero playing for Chidoriyam, Nishinoya Yu, was forced to quickly move his feet. He got under the ball and kept it alive, sending it back into his school's half. The setter rushed to accommodate the pass and quickly moved to get the second touch. He quickly made the decision to use this chance to reset as the trick pulled off by Oikawa Toru and Daniel Dort had thrown the team off. So he sent the ball over to his opponents', Kitagawa Daiichi, half.

"Chance Ball" Kageyama Tobio yelled. The ball was quickly approaching the rookie but Oikawa Toru stepped in and received the ball with his hands, passing it once more to Daniel Dort.

Daniel Dort, recognizing the bubbling emotions within Oikawa, decided to send the ball to him again. Oikawa Toru moved past the backcourt line at a faster tempo than usual. This raised an eyebrow on Daniel's face. He quickly sent the ball with a quick attack speed, just right for the current Oikawa.

Oikawa came through, smashing the ball, this time going through the wall. The ball was quickly coming into contact with the waxed court.

"Rolling Thunder"

However, it was not the end as Nishinoya Yu appeared behind the ball and sent it up in the air.
