Child Of The Void

THIS NOVEL IS MOVING TO PATREON, ON THIS APP, IT WILL HAVE INCREDIBLY SLOW UPDATES. I APOLOGIZE TO READERS FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE LINK IS BELOW NOW. Or just read on Scribblehub since it has 2 chaps a week (at least). https://www.patreon.com/Novels630 *** Finally! After hundreds of years of suppression and abuse, humanity produced a genius! --- From 391 Aetil to 'now', humanity has had to live as the servants of the Gods. They had been wrongfully abused and used as slaves with no rights. Just as they were going to give up and forever live at the bottom of the food chain, hunted by every existence and used as sources of entertainment, a genius with extraordinary talent had been born! Raymond Valtere, or Ray for short, had been born. And only 5 years after his birth, he was sealed away by some Gods who were afraid of his talent. Sealed in the Void, where nothing exists, Ray trains and learns. In a place where his mind ages yet his body doesn't, he meets the Void and comes to see it as a sort of Guardian that raised him. Ray reaches the peak of his talent and, eventually, reaches the peak of humanity. Now wielding the power of the Void, he sets out to free humanity from the shackles of the Gods. Though he might find other goals in the future, not everything is certain! But everyone knows. He is imperfect, impure. --- "How funny is it, that the man deemed to feel the least cared the most." *** This was honestly written for fun and I don't really have a talent for writing so, enjoy! I am still a student so don't mind the mistakes or the personality changes or the unexpected emo scenes, this is purely experimental! Please remember that I have a life and I won't be absolutely dedicated to this so don't find it strange if I randomly stop writing! I know I said I was 'unconfident' about writing romances but... The urges... The voices... Well, anyways, I'm writing a boys love! Yay! But the romance will be toxic and hard to understand near the beginning, you'll soon be able to see it mellow down. Or not, don't trust me with keeping to single ideas. I will be commenting on a few 'quotes' from Raymond throughout the novel! Don't read them, I got firsthand embarrassment from them!

If you are the Void, then what is the Cosmos?

-1st person-

100 years later,

It was a question that plagued me ever since I found out about these different energies.

"Eris," I spoke as I sat on my old chair, there was no need to yell Her name since She'd always appear, whether it be an accident or I simply needed to call Her. I just finished reading a book and even though I was going to try to read another, I couldn't handle the curiosity. It was a question I pondered over for decades but kept forgetting to ask. But no. I have to ask Eris before I forget again.

"Ray...?" The reason to this confusion was how I talk. Usually I speak with a kind of carefree tone which hints at the fact that it's not urgent, but this time I yelled urgently. Like how you'd yell at someone who'd kept a secret from you that's very important and you needed to know what it is before you kill them yourself. Yes. Kill. That was how curious I was. Reasonably so.

"If you are the Void... Then what, or who, is the Cosmos" I paused before adding, "And does this also mean that there are entities that are actually Mana, Aura, or Qi?" This was a question I did think about, but whenever I was gonna ask Eris, I ended up forgetting. Yes, it's a very confusing thought process that some might question whether I am sane whilst thinking this.

"The Cosmos... is my sibling. We were both created before 'The Beginning' and we coexist together to this day. That is the explanation in a nutshell. You could even say we are twins. I am the existence of Nothing and He is the existence of Everything. Opposites." Eris paused before adding, "The other energies don't have forms, but consciousness. They do not have a body since the energy itself is their body. It is the reason why some energies could resist your vessel despite being pure. All energies will have their own opinion on every creation and will therefore act on their opinion."

Eris' explanation was met with silence before I finally spoke.

"That's kind of... Deep." Even though I'm supposedly smart for a 5-year-old, I was still taking time to digest all that information.

-3rd person-

Ray slowly got up from sitting on his chair and walked towards his bedroom, as if in a trance. At the same time, the previously dark room lightened up as the tangible void left and followed Ray to his room. His grey hair lightly shaking with each step taken as his abyss-like eyes stared straight forward.

Eventually, as Ray got to his room, the darkness floated away and left through the wall opposite his door. At that point, Ray had entered his room and lay on his 150 (or so) year-old bed. A sigh left his mouth as he pondered the words said earlier by the Void.

Different sentences floated around in his thoughts as he finally registered them.

"Siblings and consciousness, huh." He mumbled with an expressionless face, closing his eyes to think.

He soon calmed down from his previous state and, eventually, more questions popped up as he finally placed a smile on his face. This one had an ambiguous meaning that Ray himself didn't know when to use it.

What is the Cosmos like?

You mentioned 'He' when you explained earlier, does that mean the Cosmos is a guy?

If the Cosmos has a gender then what is yours?

What is the Cosmos' name?

Can I speak to Him?

What about Mana, Qi, and Aura?

And so on, these questions flew around as he felt an indescribable urge to ask them as he lay down. He didn't and wouldn't feel tired so what's the point of sleeping? He needed to sate his insatiable curiosity as he couldn't handle the unknown. Why not ask now?

-1st person-

I quickly got up from the bed and walked to the library. Now that I think about it, it's kind of pointless to have gone to my bedroom if I was gonna have these questions from the start...

As I finally got to the library, before I called, the room filled with a tangible darkness that swirled around as if it were alive.

"Ask your questions now, Ray" I guess I was kind of predictable with how I immediately walked to the library and all.

And so I asked them all at the same time, from the most important to the least important questions. And Eris answered them all.

"Well, I'll answer them in a random order. First, we don't have any genders, we just have a preferred gender. The Cosmos prefers being referred to as a 'male' and I prefer being referred to as a 'female', but we can easily change that. Second, the Cosmos is called... Inari or Nous. These are just 2 main names we use, we both have many others. I would prefer that you don't speak to Him. Though we coexist, sometimes that existence shows hostility. I'm not sure why though... But usually, it's not true hostility, maybe He's just angered at my power. And for that last one... You may be able to speak with them, but you'd need to gain their approval first. They may accept you right now but they don't approve of you. Though, Void is the closest energy to approval. I think you should start with that one first."

"..." I placed my hand on my chin, stuck in contemplation before I spoke, "That's cool but... Why is... Nous so... hostile? Towards you?" I was uncomfortable with speaking about a hostile entity by their name but oh well.

And before you say or even think 'What about Eris', that's a different story. Eris isn't hostile but very friendly and kind. Also easy to... I won't finish that statement.

"As I mentioned earlier, it might be how I'm quite a lot more powerful than Him... I have the power to swallow the Cosmos whole, but He can only create, create, and create. It's why no constellation, except a few, hates the Cosmos. Whilst He might be very powerful, his specialty lies not in taking or killing but giving and making." The darkness pulsated and floated around faster, showing deep thought and contemplation.

"Hah... I see... So He is just a sore loser?" At that point, all my respect for Nous has gone. He was just a petty child in my eyes cause, who would hate the power of creation? You could basically become rich with that.

"Pfffft" The darkness in the room lightened almost to the fact it was barely noticeable before slowly returning to normal. I got to make Eris laugh, so that may be a plus.

But I wonder why it was so funny...

I tilted my head before asking, "Why do you think it's so funny?" Not in anger or irritation though, just clarifying, I said it with an easy-going yet soft tone in pure curiosity.

"You forgot who you're insulting." Eris seemed to recover from Her laughing fit earlier. I stopped and thought about it.

"I insulted the... Entity of everything..." I paused before adding, "Well, it's not like He can do anything to me with you here!" I placed a bright smile on my face, it was directed at the darkness since after that quick realisation and horror, I remembered that I had Eris here with me.

I'm also going to say, the energy having consciousness idea came from a certain novel i'm reading called 'Lord Of Mana'. Not a recommendation, just giving credit where it is due!
