"You really traveled so long to reach this city? We have been on the road for about a week now but we aren't that desperate to travel months for that." Anya asked now after hearing his confirmation that he wanted to be an adventurer.
"Anya, I forgot to tell you but there are actually a lot of people traveling from even farther than this young man. This city is a hub for adventurers."
"Come to think. What are you two going to do in the city?", asked Azrael now since they started this conversation.
"My grandpa and I are on a task for our village." Anya was the one answering now. She even climbed over to the front and sat beside them both.
"Careful, child." The old man warned her to be careful since the sitting space was now rather narrow with her at the front as well.
Azrael looked at her and was a little bit surprised by what she was wearing. He could at first not see everything because the other half of her body was hidden inside the cart but now he clearly could see what she was wearing.
"Hey! Eyes up!" She actually noticed his gaze and reprimanded him for it. But what else can Azrael do but look?
(A/N: She looks exactly like Maine(Marin) Shirato from TRASH. Just with white hair and blue eyes.)
Azrael chuckled. "Well, seeing you dressed like that kinda asks for it." He didn't even bother apologizing to her.
Anya wore very short hotpants coupled with a small red vest that was enclosing a tight fitted black clothing underneath that still revealed her belly button.
He also noticed, now that he could see it closer, her breasts were actually bigger than expected.
"See? I told you to not wear such revealing clothes if you don't want people to stare..." Even the old man agreed to his words. He obviously seemed very protective of his granddaughter in regards to that.
Anya just grumbled a little. "But it's much easier to move like this."
"That may be true but..."
"Alright. I got it, grandpa! Can we go back to the topic now!?" Anya actually was getting uncomfortable talking about this further.
"Sure." Azrael agreed, laughed lightly and restarted their previous conversation. "But what is so important that you take such a long journey? Is it for Food?"
"No, we provide that ourselves. But what we really need is an extermination group." The old man started to explain.
"Huh? Extermination group? For monsters? Are the people in the city even taking such tasks?"
"You guessed right. We started to have a problem with monsters lately. Normally every village has some sort of ward that helps repel them but this time they seem to be stronger than usual. Maybe our ward is even broken..." The old man clearly sighed in worry after mentioning the last part.
"And yes, not all cities accept such pleas but Orario does. Small villages around Orario can make a commission for adventurers through the guild. We even get somewhat of an emergency treatment since we do provide the city with grain and other various necessities. Not everything can be gotten from the tower after all. And a few Adventurers do like to travel outside for a few weeks. It is like a vacation for them to lessen their stress that builds up over time."
´I guess that doesn't change, no matter the world, huh?´ - "I see. I am sorry to hear this. It must be rough to have to deal with such things while also not knowing what is going on in your village."
"It's alright. But I am surprised you didn't know about this. How did you deal with monster problems?"
Azrael stretched an arm out in front of him and clenched his fist tightly and then slowly let it travel until it was in front of his face.
"With pure strength." Then he sighed and lowered his arm. "My people are actually very warrior-oriented. If there were problems like that arising around our village, we would deal with it ourselves."
"Wow, a village full of muscle-brains. It kinda resembles the Amazoness, doesn't it, grandpa?" Anya had to put out that little cocky remark. But she also compared his race to another.
Azrael looked at her. "It was an honor in our village. It actually also served as proof for bravery. Often seen as a trial for the rite of coming of age...What are Amazoness?"
"They are a race of only female members. They all follow a certain strict warrior codex. That is why Anya thinks that way. But don't let yourself get fooled. There are also Amazoness that are gifted with magic." The old man looked at him and then thought about his first words. "Do many actually survive your trials?"
Azrael nodded after getting his answer to the question. "Only a few children make it every few years at most...This time around I am actually the only kid at my age." He tried to look as sad as possible. It was actually not hard since he was in all manner the last of his race.
"Did you make it?" Anya asked while observing Azraels facial expressions.
"No." Azrael flatly answered.
"Then why are you here?", she asked him again. "Don't tell me they kicked you out?"
"Anya that goes too far..." The old man was again not pleased. Why was his grandchild so bad in reading the mood?
"No...Actually, I am supposed to be there." Azrael point at the tower.
"The elders changed their mind about the rite because of the mortality rate. They thought about it and decided to let the young people journey. We are to grow stronger with that instead. And since I picked up in some conversation that this tower was the best way to get stronger, it makes me glad that I am finally arriving."
The old man now smiled when he heard his determination. "You are right to assume that. I was also once an adventurer. But I was foolish once and got injured very heavily. Because of that injury remaining and making my knee useless, I couldn't continue any longer..."
Azrael his brow twitched slightly but he didn't comment on his words.
The old man started to laugh warmly. "Who would even want a cripple such as myself. I am also happy I survived this long."
The men gaze then traveled back to his grandchild.
"It is because I retired that I now have my little Anya here. She is actually also going to go and join a Familia herself this year."
"I am already 15, grandpa! Stop calling me little!" Anya made a little tantrum about his wording.
"Huh? We are actually the same age?" Azrael looked at her surprised.
"Hahahaha - She sure does look young and behaves like a little child. Just back at the village, she made such a big tantrum of wanting to go adventuring. That is why I ended up bringing her. I guess I should have not spoiled her so much with my stories." The old man had a very happy expression now.
"Grandpa!!" Anya just puffed up her cheeks and protested with a crimson hue on her cheeks.
"And you!! You thought I was a kid!?" She paused shortly to get some breath. "Oh! I know what you thought!! Just because I am short you assumed things!!" Now the berserker came out of her a little bit.
"Whoa, calm down. I didn't say anything like that at all." He really couldn't say it was actually because of her breasts, right?
But thinking about her height now gave him even weirder thoughts. She was rather short and looked barely over 145cm. She was literally a standing blowjob machine if he considered his old self being 188cm.
True he was currently around 167cm himself but he hasn't reached his growth spurt yet. Especially as a Saiyan. Women, in general, did tend to grow fast to their maximum height and barely went higher than that later. So he could assume Anya would stay this tall even later in life.
´.....Is Hestia actually considered a child if you think about it like that? Is Bell a pedo? No, he can't be a pedo with a millennia-old virgin chibi...Wait, is Hestia the child molester then?... God damn it, back to reality!´ He shook gis head.
"What is a Familia?" He tried to change the topic real quick after going to some weird part of his brain.
"What? Are you serious? Now I get the feeling you came from a very backwater place."
"Be friendly, Anya. You are shaking the wagon." With those words, the girl calmed down significantly.
"A Familia is actually something like a guild or clan. Some even call it a second family. People in a Familia are under the rule of a God or a Goddess. Of course, that is under the rule of equal exchange. The people are called children by the gods and receive a blessing from them that opens them a path to get stronger. And for that strength, the people help their respective deity to reach their own goals."
"I see. What God were you under?"
"Goddess Mayari."
"..."
"I guess the name alone does not tell much to you, huh? She was actually a goddess of Combat, War, Revolution, Hunt, Weaponry, Beauty, Strength, Moon and Night...Hmpf, thinking about it now brings back memories...And to be truthful, she probably represented the Moon and the Night the most."
"Combat, huh? I like that ring. Does your Goddess still live in the city?"
"I am not sure. Many years have gone by. And that may cause problems. Maybe her Familia became large enough that level 1 adventurers won't be taken in anymore."
"Level 1?" Azrael still pretended to be oblivious.
"...Let's just say the weak...You will know about that stuff sooner or later anyway."
"Now that I think about it. What is your name? Maybe I can use it to get in. That is if it is alright with you?"
The man laughed again. "No, Eren Jaeger is the name. If you really come across her it would be very lucky. The city is large and the Goddess may not even be around. But if you really find her. I would even like my granddaughter to be in her Familia. It would make me sleep better knowing her being safe in the hands of a good Goddess."
(A/N: Ehem...)
"Then how about we make a deal. I will help take care of Anya here and make sure she ends up in a good Familia and in exchange, I can use your name." Azrael grinned now. With that, he could possibly get a free ticket to a Goddess that he could trust. At least this man seemed not to have bad memories about her. Or maybe there are other ways to use his name, who knows.
And Azrael really did wonder what kind of Goddess this Mayari is.
"Hey! I can hear you, you know!" Anya gritted her teeth. "I don't need protection! And I can choose my Familia myself, thank you!"
Okay, Chapter is done. I hope most mistakes are gone. As always I am not en English native so my grammar probably sucks ass.
