Chasing my Luna

Scott Devlin, the bold Alpha of the Devlin clan was so disappointed at his adoptive parents to have him forced to marry a complete stranger, and above all professions, a doctor, whom he hates. He was reluctant to attend the wedding because he thinks the bride isn’t willing to marry him too. Besides, he is devoted in finding his Luna. His siblings managed to take him away so he can escape his fate since Scott can’t say no to their father. While Scott is enjoying his escapade in his friend’s private island, he noticed a faint fragrant scent that lured him towards the bar. His attention directed to a brunette woman wearing a red fitted maxi dress, with mesmerizing sapphire eyes. He can’t help but approach Diana who was sitting at the bar. “Finally, my Luna”, Scott whispered to himself. Little that he know, the Luna he imprinted on is not what she seems to be. **********

She’s a Nagua

SCOTT POV

"What's the matter?", I looked directly at her icy blue eyes, then I frowned at the fading curl on her lips. "Diana?", I whispered while I caress her tender face down to her neck. How I miss her scent! But why is she hot? Does she have a fever, or was it just because of the fire surge earlier?

Diana's skin is atypically hot like a flame of a burning candle, and her body seemed petrified and hard as a rock. I watch her dazzling blue eyes turn to gray. My eyes flared at the renewed complication, seeing Diana is comparable to an empty shell without a soul. "Diana!", I repetitively shook her body and called her name to return to me.

"Lytharis are so greedy. You give them a little power, and then they overuse it", I recognized the voice of a woman who suddenly spoke from the dark. I turned my head to the side and squinted at the woman wearing a white suit coming forth.

"I knew you'd come soon. Aren't you a bit too late?", I glared at her as she walk under the moonlight. "And overdressed?", I added.

"Oh! I have missed you too! If I knew you'd be missing me too much, I would have come earlier. I have dressed appropriately for this moment.", Alva glared back while I step to the side keeping Diana behind me. "How's the full moon? Breathtaking?", her devilish smirk is very visible even under minimal light.

"I would've enjoyed the full moon, if I have a memory of it at all ", I replied.

"Well… I heard you almost killed your Luna and at least half of your clan", she took a quick look down at my leg. "All healed already? My daughter didn't severed your leg as deep as I thought", she lifted her brows then squinted her eyes at me.

The way she talks, it seemed like she was there. Was she? I couldn't confirm or deny, for the memories of that night is still as black as the dark side of the moon.

"Not to worry, at first you cannot recall the things that have happened. But on the next full moons, you'll be conscious of the beastly instincts that you have gained", Alva said.

"You know too much. And my question is, why?", I tried to sense her as I stare intently, and still, I did not get a single whiff to identify what her true nature is. Damn this woman!

"I know just enough.", Alva peeked at Diana. "Her soul is trapped in the realm of the lythari elves. She's not like an Alpha like you who can breaththrough the force field.. You're lucky I have a way to take her out", Alva said.

I clasped on Diana's hard rock hand who seemed to burn a little more. As I search around with my senses for the lythari who have kept my Luna in their realm, I found nothing but the presence of an unknown being in the form of Alva. "Then I suppose you can do something to save her.. not to mention that you're the one who gave those freaks much power", I replied with displeasure that is plain to see.

"Is judging your expertise? It's quite a habit of you", she said.

"I've always wondered.. how could the wolf mother of Diana can grant someone abilities? Even if you're an Alpha or Sigma wolf, you cannot lend your powers to others..", I asked.

"I'm just gifted, don't you think?", Alva said as she put her hands in her side pockets.

"Too gifted to possess Isabelle and Sebastian to commit murder? Extra special that you can shapeshift to a wolf.. and a bird? Exceptionally gifted to build a partnership with vampires?", I replied as I watch her face harden.

"Let's just say I am special, like my daughter", she answered.

"Diana is nothing like you, murderer.", provoking Alva to spill the beans from her own mouth.

"Murderer? Look who's.. talking.", she stared blankly at me. "We are more than the same Scott. You have spilled so much blood in your own hands just like me.. and just like your father. After all, it's his fault why you carry that curse", she added.

"Why are we cursed?", I furiously asked. "You once said that Diana is perfectly designed for the Lockwoods, Is she the key to break the curse?" I asked again.

"You ask too much questions, Scott.", she smiled ear to ear. "Don't worry too much, we shall meet again. And by that time, you'll know better. For now, my daughter's life needs to be saved. The longer Diana stays there, the more her life seeps out from her body.", Alva said as she leave me off the hook.

I looked back at Diana and saw her skin starting to turn pale. Is there really something I couldn't do to get her out of the lytharis realm? "Then save her now, so we can leave this place", I said.

Alva clicked her tongue a few times as she shook her head from side to side. "Of course, my daughter goes with me.", Alva replied.

"And if I say no?", I asked.

"Then, we'll both watch Diana's life slip away with so much tears in our eyes.. to think I cry ugly", she said.

I sighed deeply, unsure of what to do. "One moment..", I faced Diana and put the moon phase watch back on her wrist. Half-hearted to give her to Alva, my life would be a total mess and meaningless without Diana. For now, whether I like it or not, the best option to keep her alive is to allow Alva to save her. "I'll be seeing you, Luna. Wait for me", I whispered as I kiss her on her warm, hard lips.

"Why are you taking so long?", Alva asked as I move away for her to hold Diana. "You can visit us. I'll prepare a special glass of milk for you.", Alva smiled ear to ear as she whisper an inaudible incantation. She raised her hand and flicked it as they slowly vanish.

Before they completely disappeared, I sensed something on Alva that ended all my predictions. I widened my eyes in disbelief while I attempted to stop her. "Fuck, she's a nagua!", I exclaimed as I watch them disappear into thin air, tricking me that Diana was held up by a lythari.
