Squeak~ Squeak~

A small rat speedily crawled across the floor.

It looked around, searching for anything to eat.

From behind, before the rat could notice, a hand grabbed it before balling it into a clenched fist.

"Master, I caught food!"

"Eh? Really!?... That's a rat."

"S-so..? It-its still meat, we can eat it."

Celia's cheek twitched as she saw the desperate look on her apprentices' face.

"No. We aren't at that point just yet, I think."

"But, Master! I'm sooo hungry~!"

"Ah... Well, just- Let go of it already!" Celia gripped the hand holding the rat.

"Master, if it's to survive, we must do anything!"

"R-relax! We aren't out of options, we can still find a way to live. Just let go of that rat!" Celia saw the dangerous look in her eyes as she held the rat.

Celia and Arrabelle began to pull for the hand holding the rat.

Squeak~ Squeak~!

The rat cried as it was nearly squeezed to death under the grip of the two women.

Celia managed to loosen Arrabelles grip, the rat immediately sprinted after finding an escape route.

"No~! Mister rat! At least let me take a bite!!" Arrabelle tearfully cried.

"Arrabelle, calm down. Rats are not good things to eat."

"Ubu, master... I need to eat something."

"Don't worry, when have I ever let you down?"

"I've lost count of how many."

"Never, is how you're supposed to answer. But anyways, I have figured it out."

"Huh?"

"Synthetic food! From that old journal we found, I was able to learn how to create delicious synthetic foods."

"R-really?" Arrabelle wiped her tears.

"Of course! When have I ever let you down."

"I've already lost-"

"Never, is what you're supposed to say."

In front of them, a flat piece of cardboard was laid on the ground. Placed on it, was a few pieces of grass with a couple of berries.

"Okay... Hoo~" Celia breathed in and out before placing her hands over the cardboard.

"Foocious, delucious, foocious, delucious..." Celia continued to chant, glittering light silently manifested from her palm.

The glittering light detached itself from her hand and slowly flew to the pieces of grass.

The grass glowed with white light. It slowly melted and turned to mush.

The soft incantations continued, and the glittering light continued being absorbed by the grass.

The mush then started to collect itself, forming into a nondescript mass.

The white light that covered the mush, suddenly shined brightly for a moment before disappearing. Celia also stopped chanting.

The previous mushy grass had now turned into rice!

"Heh... We're gonna need a few more strands."

Arrabelle simply looked at Celia with a tired expression.
