The Day

"That day has come…. Get ready."

"You're the chosen one, Cassandra."

Cassandra's eyes were awake right after those two sentences came to her ears. A mysterious voice came from out of nowhere.

"Are you awake, Cassandra? Come here, the sky has started to change!" shrieked Gomiko from the window.

Cassandra, who was still half-conscious, looked around. She then took a deep breath and said, "Thank goodness. I thought I was in hell again."

Gomiko looked confused, she floated up to Cassandra and looked at his best friend with big round eyes that seemed to be filled with questions.

"Hell? Have you gone mad, Cassandra?"

The sound of fireworks exploding in the sky made both of them gasp. The trumpet sounded very strong, indicating that the September celebrations had started.

Cassandra immediately got out of bed and ran to the window, staring intently at the vibrant colors in the sky.

"So, they chose light green this year? It feels quite strange, usually they always put forward dark and gloomy colors," said Cassandra.

Referring to the sentences that she talked about, the celebration of September is always synonymous with the color of the sky that changes for seven days. Usually, the royal elders will sleep for 48 hours to get clues about the changing atmosphere from the ancestors.

Although not the first time this has happened, the light green color, which is far from gloomy, is lovely to the black kingdom's residents.

"Looks like my mom's pissed off, you know. She hates bright colors like this," Cassandra chimed in, her eyes not leaving the sky. Even though it was covered by the black light surrounding the tower, Cassandra could still feel the excitement.

"So, why did you mention hell? You haven't explained to me yet, Cassandra," asked Gomiko, who was still curious.

Cassandra took a deep breath. She looked at Gomiko and said, "I had another strange dream. Um… I mean, hearing a mysterious sentence. I thought I was again visited by a demon who took me to hell…."

"What did you hear Cassandra?"

"I was the chosen one, and that day has come, get ready… that's what I heard, Gomiko. If you refer to that sentence, maybe the day in question is today. The voice came like a pair of old men and women possessed by a demon. Will anything bad happen to me, Gomiko?" Cassandra asked, her eyes welling up with tears at her furry friend flying with a slow flap of wings.

Gomiko understands how chaotic and heartbroken Cassandra must be to be confined in a tower, plus she also can't be with her family on September's celebration day. So Gomiko immediately floated up to Cassandra's face and hugged the girl's cheeks with his tiny hands.

"Everything will be fine, Cassandra. I am sure! Nothing bad will happen in the September celebrations. Maybe all those dreams are just a form of your anxiety that you can't get together with your family, don't be sad, okay?"

Cassandra smiled. Even though her heart still had a thousand questions, she appreciated how loyal Gomiko was, who always comforted her in times of depression like now.

A flash of white and gold pierced the light green sky, causing Cassandra to immediately grasp Gomiko's tiny body while pointing her at the window.

"Look, Gomiko! It's the light of the white kingdom! They've arrived, which means the battle between Prince Dylan and the person who replaces me is about to begin. Why did they come so early?" Cassandra asked.

"Maybe because they can't wait to see the attractions of the princes and princesses of the two kingdoms. What's more, both of you have just had your 18th birthday, of course this is a special celebration. This fight was only held this year, right?"

Cassandra was reminded of Lilya's anger and her plan to replace Cassandra with another girl. There was sadness in Cassandra's heart, even though she was foolish in black magic, but she was pretty discouraged because she couldn't participate in the magic competition.

"Yes, this is a recent fight. It was also because the elder proposed and said he had a dream from an ancestor. Even so, I'm very sad, Gomiko. You can imagine how proud my parents would be if I could fight Prince Dylan…."

"Cassandra… one thing you should know, what your parents are trying to do is also the best thing. They don't want to embarrass you in front of so many people, after all, the face of the person who replaced you has already been changed to yours, right? You don't have to worry… the time you have can you--."

"I'm going back to sleep, Gomiko. Wake me up when the fireworks and fairy dance start," Cassandra said as she cut Gomiko's sentence. The girl then stepped towards the bed and immediately threw her body firmly.

Gomiko couldn't do much. Seeing her friend was sad, she chose to approach Cassandra.

"May I sleep next to you?" asked Gomiko.

Cassandra, who had closed her eyes, nodded and said, "Yeah, sure. You don't want to watch the show?"

"Not. I'm lazy to see it myself, after all, only flashes of light are visible. Fireworks and fairy dances will appear later in the afternoon or evening. I just want to sleep like you, Cassandra."

His body which was only the size of a child's fist, landed on Cassandra's shoulder. Gomiko's big eyes stared at Cassandra, and he felt sorry for the sadness that this beautiful girl was experiencing.

"I know you'll be strong and get through all of this well, Cassandra..."

DARRR!

"KYAAA!"

Cassandra and Gomiko were both awake. The screams and explosions were audible.

"OH NO!" Cassandra shrieked, the girl's eyes glaring at the window.

It looks like the windows and part of the tower are shattered! Not only that, but the black membrane surrounding the building also disappeared without a trace.

"What the hell, Gomiko?! Why is all this happening?!"

Cassandra drew closer to the large hole in the broken window. The wind hit hard in his face, not yet finished with the incident. Suddenly from the front appeared a massive lump of fire approaching Cassandra.

Suddenly Cassandra and Gomiko, who were still in shock, immediately retreated. However, the lump quickly broke apart and created a terrifying creature.

"HA HA HA HA! HELLO CASSANDRA!"

Who is that?

Cassandra and Gomiko were both confused, their mouths hanging wide open. The figure that emerged from the lump of fire seemed to form a man with large fangs and a black horn in the middle of the forehead. His eyes were dark red, and his body was skinny.

The fear in Cassandra immediately rose, but she also had to have the courage to speak up so she could know the figure in front of her.

"W-WHO ARE YOU?!" shrieked Cassandra.

Meanwhile, from a distance, the screams of the female witches sounded very sad. Cassandra began to understand that what was happening now was not expected.

"HA HA HA HA! I AM THE SERVANT FROM AZAZEL! YOU ARE THE CHOOSEN ONE CASSANDRA AND NOW IS TIME FOR ME TO BRING YOU!"

"What do you mean! I--- KYAAA!"

Before Cassandra could answer, the terrifying figure immediately flew and carried Cassandra. Cassandra's screams of Gomiko's name shriek violently were joined by the cries of the other magicians. Then, finally, the girl passed in the arms of the hideous figure, who continued to laugh with satisfaction.
